“Wait, you wanna go… now?”

“Yep.” Elise smiled. “Thought it would be better to go to the mall first since it’s kind of a long drive.”

“I don’t know.” Sierra replied. “Forty minutes isn’t too long a drive.”

“Well, whatever. The point is, we’re going to the mall now so… are you ready?”

“I, uh… hang on, I need to go to the bathroom.”

Sierra ran over to the bathroom and sat on the toilet. Truthfully, she didn’t really need to go. She just needed a few minutes to… collect herself.

While we were waiting for the train she asked about the process of supplying the drugs, now that my fingerprints were on file. I told her that the baggies were pre-packaged and the dealer, or his assistants, used nitrile gloves.

They would come to me in a paper bag and I would transfer them to envelopes using tweezers and avoid touching the envelopes unless it was by the edges.

She then asked about the money and I told her that I was paid double what each baggie had cost me and that there were virtually no overheads.

"Why did my boy end up with someone as awful as Amber? Why?"

"I don't know."

"Why couldn't he have found a girl — you know — a girl like you.
I mean, you know, your personality and kindness and all..."
She fumbled, her cheeks reddened. "Do you know what I'm trying to say?"
