“Are you lost?” One of the guys, one with jet black hair asked me.

“No,” I replied, as the other three turned to look. Chad and Mike stood a few feet away, so all eyes were indeed on me.

Change of Seasons

After flubbing a powerful incantation, meant to give newly coronated Demon Queens the wisdom of their ancestors, Devilla Satanne awakens to memories of her past life as Jacob Divington, a human from Earth. Having gained a new perspective on life, she quickly comes to a rather horrifying conclusion: she's been a complete and utter brat! No wonder everyone hates her!

And then there's the fact that she's apparently been reincarnated as the villainess of Tower Conquest, a lesbian porn game with a surprisingly intricate plot. One in which the Heroine conquers Dimona Tower, turning Devilla's people against her in the process. In victory, the Heroine brings about a glorious age of peace between demons and humans for the first time in millennia. ...Which actually sounds pretty good for her people, come to think of it. Devilla knows her terrible behavior is beyond forgiveness, but maybe she can still make up for her past mistakes? She just needs to make sure the events of the game unfold correctly. Though there is one little detail she'd like to change - the part where Devilla herself is killed or enslaved!

Chapter 2: Finding My Name

Whenever Greg had a day like the one he had had today, he liked to pick up a new video game. Old, new, any genre, any console (for he owned them all) - none of that mattered. Just that he had some new story, some new world, to immerse himself in, to enable him to substitute this disappointing reality for a new iteration, where the goals were clear and defined, and all effort was duly rewarded. A neat, hand-crafted universe, all contained on a disc, cartridge, or as compressed digital memory on a hard drive.

Ammonia. The stink filled his nose making him choke, cough and gag. He tried to move his head away from it and after a brief moment of respite it was back. His eyes felt gummed shut as he struggled to open them. The foul smell returned to enveloped him for a third time.

The first time she saw him, it was the hair.

He sat alone at the edge of the open terrace, backlit by late afternoon sun and a mess of shimmering mahogany waves. It wasn’t just long, it was catching the wind like it had a personality all its own. His jaw was sharp, his frame lean but taut beneath a black linen shirt, but it was the hair that made her thighs press together under the café table.

When Charles Miller received the call on his Pip-Boy that he had been chosen, he could hardly believe it. Finally, his years of work as an engineer had been recognized. He and his wife, Barbara, would finally have a place secured in a vault, safe from the threat of nuclear war.

Brimming with pride and hope for the future, Charles left his home for the orientation meeting, imagining the security that awaited them if war happened. But when he arrived, joining twenty-nine others in a sleek corporate conference room, his hope began to crumble.

The CEO of RobCo stood before them with grim news: nuclear war was not just a possibility… it was hours away. And the vault door was closing.

A girl from a bourgeois family would often be Confirmated at age twelve, and at age sixteen or seventeen she would become a debutante. What is a debutante?

Back at their hotel, the four of them gathered in Melissa’s room.

“Mom? Did you know about Jack being a Lord before you came back here from your tour?” asked Zane.

Thanks to another note from Mum, Aspen discovered that the freezer was full of individual portions of food locals had brought over after Aunt Marcy’s funeral. They were still trying to decide which of the leftovers they wanted to eat when another knock came at the front door.

“No rest for the wicked,” they sighed as they closed the freezer and went to open the door.

Alex wishes upon a magical coin that he could become his wife's fantasy. The results are not what he expected.

Medical Center, Napa Valley Recovery Center:
Sara and Cindy wave goodbye to several girls as they are picked up by either their family member or by the Uber that had been arranged for them. This part of the job, the identical sisters loved.

“It’s good to see those girls going back to their families or with new families.” Cindy looks at her twin while watching the cars drive away.
