Hatbox Funds Keep Us Online - Moving and Medical Expenses

Author:

I had a medical bill for $995 for a procedure last summer that I thought the insurance had paid. I talked myself into a discount on this and paid that, and still may get it back from the insurance after running their obstacle course. Oh, me.

Next month, we will be going to Arkansas to finish moving Melanie out to CA. This will require about $1500 in funds we don't have at the moment.

A bed for Melanie and an air cleaner for me along with some other things for the house ran about $500.

Happy New Year! Not so happy new bills! Hatbox needs funds.

Author:

It is the new year and the first in a bit where we haven't taken out a new loan to pay off last years bills. We're going to try not to do that this year; just try to get through month to month. But we do still have a couple of old loans to pay off and, of course, new bills. So it is necessary to post these appeals for help. All contributions are welcome and appreciated.

We're in a serious financial bind right now. Part of it may be a bank error which might be cleared up by Monday. In the meantime, we have bills and very little money to pay them with.

My apologies to Pink Floyd for the title. I definitely sang it in my head when I thought of it and typed it.

So this post has been one I've been thinking of in drips and drabs for a while now. It's based on things I've seen in blogs, comments, and even said to me in private channels. So please forgive me if it's not entirely coherent and a bit rant-ish.

February is Short Story Month!

'Tis the month to be succinct, to get to the point, to tell your story in enough words but not too many!

It's not a contest, there are no prizes, but everyone is encouraged to write something short and sweet, from pithy drabbles to picaresque novelettes, a standalone polished gem, or a diamond in the rough side story to a longer work, Let's Be Brief!

Hugs,
Erin

Mid-month Bills and such - Funds Needed

Author:

Thanks to everyone who has sent money. We really depend on you. :)

Besides the regular bills, we have some special needs that have come up.

I did get Melanie's computer replaced by tapping a savings account I hadn't touched in more than ten years. That's about the limit of my serendipitous funds, though.

The tax bill will likely wait till the new year, but a months late power bill has taken its place with more urgency. Ah, me.

Database repairs done.

All stories should be back in place.

I got the first notice something was wrong at 2:45 pm my time. I was at lunch and got the note on my phone as I walked in the door here.

Piper was unavailable, so I tried to fix it myself and had things back up by 3:10.

At the current time, there are no mods but ME. And occasionally, I do something else for a while.

Like now. I think I will take a nap. I got up at 430 after going to bed at 1215 last night.

Update: Thank You!

Hey everyone. This is an update and quick thank you (to be updated in the morning.).

As of right now we have met our immediate needs and that combine with a loan from a friend of BC will go a long way to some of us getting some needed sleep.

We aren’t 100% out of danger but we will likely be ok and have a better idea of what the immediate dilutive for BC looks like.

HuGs,

And I personally am down to about $150 with my bills ahead of me.

Piper has $1100 in expense to keep her vehicles running which may hit on Thursday if a plan is not in place.

In a few days we start getting money coming in from our regular places but we are in a tight corner here.

After recent expenses related to the downtime experienced Mar 29 to 31, and various monthly bills, we're broke. There is just less than $10 in our main bank account, and only $50 in my personal account. More bills are due as it is the beginning of the month.

Sometime today, Mar 29, site will be down for an hour

Author:

Sometime today, probably in the evening Eastern Time, our servers will be unplugged and the rack they are in will be moved to a new location in the server farm before being plugged back in and rebooted.

Piper has been to the server farm these last two days to help ensure this goes smoothly, and we are not expecting to be down for more than an hour.

Don't Panic. :)

This has been planned for months, but is part of the reason we wanted to be sure we had money in the bank, right now, in case Piper had to stay overnight or something.

Hi there, BC family. Jamie here.

My health had been doing pretty well, all things considered, for a chunk of time. Things were relatively stable... until about 3 weeks ago when an old injury to my hip that we thought was stable became, well, unstable.

BC Funds and the Hatbox

We came up short last month, so we had to borrow some money. And that needs to be repaid but while we have some of it, we're going to do a few hundred or a thousand in upgrades. Back filling the shortage in January left us behind for February and it's already past the middle of the month.

If you can help us out, it will be greatly appreciated.

Now that I can breathe again...

Author:

Hi there, wonderful Big Closet family. Jamie here, and I'm seemingly the one tasked with making the blog posts when shit happens to our tiny admin group here.

A few hours ago, Piper's brakes failed in her van as she was taking her NinjaPotato (nickname for her and her wife's young one) to dance class this evening. Everyone is alright, she was able to get the car safely into a Wawa parking lot and call for a tow and AAA....

But even with AAA, this is liable to be an expensive fix, on top of potential rental car cost. We could definitely use some help if anyone could send some Christmas funds our direction :)

Hi there, Big Closet family. Jamie here, long time no chat. I've been extremely ill the last few weeks... months... something like that, and haven't been able to help out the rest of our team like I want to, so we've had to outsource some of my responsibilities and others have just been added to the huge pile.

We are in that tight spot where all of our bills are due, I needed help paying for a medicine my insurance refuses to cover, Piper's house has all their birthdays, I could probably go on for hours.
