We came up short last month, so we had to borrow some money. And that needs to be repaid but while we have some of it, we're going to do a few hundred or a thousand in upgrades. Back filling the shortage in January left us behind for February and it's already past the middle of the month.

Are these upgrades to improve the status quo or is it for repair of damaged equipment?

Improvements are good
May I suggest that if you are to embark on a significant capex that the donor/reader base be informed sooner?
A significant amount of readers here are older and on fixed incomes so it is worth it to 'read the room'.
Losing My Job
If all goes right I will be losing my job shortly. I'll send $100 tomorrow but I soon will be on fixed income and not as able to donate as in the past.
