A New Website

Well, it’s not much yet, but I do have a new website up and running. You can find it at www.mnthomasbooks.com. Stop by, take a look, and let me know if you have thoughts. I built this site myself, and having never done one before, there is a lot of room for improvements, which will go along with a lot for education for me.

A new book from an old story

The first story that I wrote for this site, actually the first story I ever let anyone read, was a piece called Life’s Pathways. I posted that story a little over a year and a half ago, and the story was poorly written, and poorly told. Despite that first feeble attempt, my story was received by the members of this site with warm and kind words, along with a lot of offers to help me improve. That reception was probably one of the biggest motivations that kept me writing.

New book idea and a Typhoon

Well, I am sitting in a hotel in Linkou, Taiwan, staring down the barrel of a Cat 3 Typhoon. So, I thought writing would be something to do, instead of watching the windows flex a lot more than I thought glass was capable of. I have a new book on the story board, and I would like to share the concept of it see if I could get some feedback on the interest. It will be a bit different than anything else I have done, but probably not that much so. Anyway, below is the introduction. I hope it is not too big for a blog. Would like some thoughts on the concept. Thanks.

Shameless self-advertising

Well, my work is being pushed out to the public, but to be honest, I would rather be writing. Stolen Innocence is now available in paperback, which came with its own set of lessons. The primary lesson was just understanding how big that project was. After it was up on Kindle, and looking at what some of the other authors here have done, I decided to check out CreateSpace and look into making SI available in print form as well. Reading through their “how to” section seemed pretty straight forward, so I figured, why not?

Kindle Release

One year and ten weeks ago, the first thing that I had written, that I allowed anyone to read, was posted on this site. It was a poorly written short story full of punctuation, spelling and grammar errors that made reading it very difficult. Apparently, there was something in that story that caught the interest of a few people, as the offers for help and guidance started coming in from people that I had never met, and didn’t know.

Thank You!!!!!!!

I am sure it is a small thing to many on BCTS, but to me it is a milestone when something I wrote and posted here breaks 100 kudos. Chapter 1 of Stolen Innocence topped the 100 mark today and I want to send a sincere “THANK YOU!” to all of the kudo givers out there. It means a lot to me.

Thank you, thank you, thank you…..

Stolen Innocence

Hi everyone. Well, I am back with another story offering called “Stolen Innocence”. This is a story that involves many characters, but the primary character is a young boy that runs from an abusive situation and finds himself trapped in a world of greed, power and manipulation. He finds his life spiraling out of his control from people that prey upon his emotional weaknesses and his overwhelming desire to find acceptance.

Tears of the Princess -- Chapter 10

Tears of the Princess

Chapter 10

Wednesday, September 29, 2010
Lin picked me up at the hotel at four thirty that morning, and I think she was pretty shocked when I pulled her into my arms and just held her tight. I am not really sure why I did it, I just needed to. Our flight did not leave until seven, but with a two hour early check in, we found ourselves sitting in the business class lounge with an hour to kill.

Tears of the Princess

By Melodie Thomas

Edited by Holly Hart

This is a sequel to “Princess of the Desert”. I do recommend reading the first story before starting this one, as much of the story will not make sense otherwise. Again, I would like to give my unending thanks to Holly for her editing and guidance. I do hope I am making her job a little easier as I gain more experience at this writing thing. I welcome your comments, thoughts and suggestions as that is the only way I will know what needs to be improved. As with the first story, I will maintain the “r21/a” rating. Though I will attempt to avoid many of the explicit descriptions, the story will be venturing into some of the darker corners of society, where dreams are many, but fairy tales are few.
