Finally Finding Myself

Jamie always felt like he was a girl. He would dress in his sister's clothes when he was younger, always feeling like he was whole in those precious moments.

I looked back just in time to see my sister, Jake, before she headed deeper into the forest. That’s a weird thought: Jake, my sister. Maybe Jacqueline would fit her better? Nah. She doesn't really seem like a Jackie.

My dad looked over and saw me looking back. “Well, it's certainly been an unusual night. That definitely was weird, wasn’t it, son?”

My name is Jenni, and this is my diary. For some reason, I decided to keep track what happens in my life, even though there's nothing special about it. I just live through each and every day, watch TV, listen to music, sleep, and repeat. Sometimes I play a video game to split up the usual monotony. Do you see what I mean? My life is excruciatingly boring, and when it's not, it's just tedious.

Update to A Life Forever Changing and new chapters incoming

I updated A Life Forever Changing as I found out new things about myself after my ultrasound showed a vaginal canal. My mom told me that I had a micropenis at birth (I've been diagnosed with that and hypogonadism since I was 12, but didn't know it went back to my birth). Since that story's my autobiography, I updated it with the newly learned info. I also updated it with the intersex tag.

The First Decade of a Life Forever Changing

I was born on March 17, 1979, in upstate New York, to Irish Roman Catholic parents. My dad is completely Irish on his mother's side plus Irish and Pakistani on his father's side. My mom's heritage is Irish along with many other nationalities from ranging from the Americas to Asia. She has often said that she is "Heinz 57", and she's not far off.

My prayers have been answered, 37 years later

Blog About:

I've been praying that God would make me a girl and wishing that I was born a girl since I was 5.

I began to have PMS symptoms (migraines, cramping, bloating, and wild mood swings) when I was 12 for a few days every month. When I was 15, I started getting female curves, so I gained 150 pounds to hide them since I was beaten up on a regular basis for acting like a girl and I was afraid of getting beaten even worse, raped, and/or killed if I looked like a girl too.

Back in 2019, something happened with my depression medication. We still don't know if it was the pharmacy or the psychiatrist that was at fault, or both, but somehow my depression medication went from 60 mg to 0 then way up to 100 mg. This caused me to completely whig out.

Finally Finding Myself Chapter 6

When Mrs. Jameson arrived back at the hospital, she saw Jamie talking to his friends. Although she could tell that it was painful for him to talk, Jamie was more animated than she could ever remember him being. He had a huge smile on his face as his friends talked to him. When she heard the girlish giggle escape from Jamie's lips, she knew that this child truly was her daughter.

I never thought my life could be like this

Growing up intersex and transgender was tough on me. I looked, walked, and talked like a girl while growing up because of being intersex, but since I wasn't allowed to be a girl, I was beaten, urinated on, had my jacket set on fire with me in it, had my hair set on fire and kids spit on it to 'put it out', and worst of all, I was sexually assaulted by a neighbor when I was only 8.

All the way into adulthood, I was called a freak and an it, and every time I asked someone out they freaked out that something like me would even have the audacity to ask them.

Positively fuming, I did something that I thought I'd never do. It was something that was so unlike me but felt so right in the moment. I slapped Rob Martin directly on the right side of his face... hard.

He rubbed his cheek, and started saying "OK, I deserved..."

I fumed at him. "You deserved way more than that. My mother was murdered, and I'm only hearing about it now?!"

He hung his head. "I'm sorry..."

I looked at my friend of many years and smiled. "Let's forget about the issues on the ship for a bit, and just enjoy the meal."

Captain Martin returned my smile. "Sounds good to me. When we're done though. I really have something I need to show you."

I enjoyed the chicken and the company. It was great catching up. It's only been a week since I've been captain, but with everything going on, it has felt like a year.

I just finished talking to the junior and senior crew. I told the junior crew I'd give them full compensation for senior benefits for the day, even though the senior staff members were in position. I warned the senior staff that the next brawl would result in anyone involved losing their commission. That should hopefully set them straight, and keep them from doing anything foolish.

Tensions are still high, but the ship is under control and fully staffed again. And I'm off the clock. On alert, but officially off the clock.

"Ms. Corben... Maria. It's true that we have only officially worked together for a short time. However, if you factor in the fact that we attended University at the same time, we've actually known each other for years. I feel I've gotten to know you pretty well during that time, so I'm sure that you're going to want to go right back to work after you leave here. As your counselor, I'd advise against that. You've been through a traumatic experience and you need time to relax and relieve the stress you've suffered from this ordeal. As your friend, you don't have to face this alone.

The junior staff members were discussing the situation as I walked in. “But this hallway was completely empty. There’s no way everyone was locked up.” It looks like I got here just in time, as Ms. Rahman’s comment was exactly what I was expecting. I was glad that the situation didn’t get a chance to escalate among the junior staff, so I can set matters straight without resistance.

Fluidity In Space: Chapter 2

As the group descended towards the counselor, I practically ran into the hallway. I lept into action and stood defiantly in front of the counselor. My declaration of “crew, get back to your stations immediately” was met with comments about how my “kind” were just as bad as the “splicer-babies”. The situation was much worse than I had first thought, and at the rate that it was escalating, I was sure it would quickly get completely out of hand.

Fluidity In Space: Chapter 1

Our multi-generational ship, the UAE Epoch, has been cruising through space for four hundred years now. I suppose it's fitting that I take on the role of captain on our quadricentennial year. I am the first gender-fluid captain of our ship, after all. We've come a long way since our ancestors in the United Astral Exploration unit first left shore so many generations ago. Back then, there was a lot of fighting. It was hard for our forebearers to blend so many different cultures together on one tiny vessel. People fought over religion, race, gender, and sexual orientation.

Finally Finding Myself Chapter 5

As I said in the previous chapter, I've been updating this story. This chapter needed the most work. It was rushed to have a happy ending, people acted out-of-character, and it had weird, unexplained, local terminology that didn't fit in the story. It still has the same ending sentence, but it's not as happily-ever-after as before, in order to save room for chapter six.

Jamie was surprised that her mom now knew her secret. She never would have said it if she hadn't thought she might make it through the blackness back to the land of the living. However, it was out now. There was no turning back.

Finally Finding Myself Chapter 4

As I've been updating this story, the other three chapters just needed a few tweaks. However, this one and part five just didn't flow right, so I changed part four's ending to better fit the established personalities of the characters.

Jamie dialed home on his cell phone to ask permission to go with the girls to Denny's. His dad answered the phone and was thrilled to get the call. "Of course you can go to dinner with your girlfriend, son. What kind of father would I be to say no?" Jamie thought that he should end the girlfriend talk then and there and tell his dad that Karen was just a friend. He thought better of it though, since his dad seemed prouder of him now than Jamie could ever remember him being.

Jamie was surprised to hear that Karen followed him home. He wiped the tears from his face with his shirt sleeve and headed down the stairs to the front door. He unbolted the lock, and let Karen in, with his eyes pointed downwards, ashamed to meet hers. He thought about how he had admitted to the entire school that his life was just an act. "I guess you must really think I'm a freak after that." Karen's eyes welled up, and she hugged Jamie tight. "I don't think you're a freak, and I really don't think you're weird either. I'm so sorry I said that Jamie."

Jamie held his breath and hoped the girl outside the stall would go away. "Do you need help?" The last thing Jamie needed was more people coming in here and catching him in the girl's room. Jamie squeaked out "I'm OK."

"You don't sound OK. My name's Karen. I'm here for you if you need someone to pour your heart out to."
