I'm here!! ^__^

I arrived in Melbourne yesterday midday, to a humongous hug from my Lisa (in transit). ^____________________________^ We've had most of yesterday and all of today to just >ENJOY< ourselves, and things are going so wonderfully great!

I just wanted to share! ^__________~

I'm Not Invisible... Update

Internet access has been disconnected (along with cable, meaning that, due to a lack of the digital converters, there is a lack of even local programming and effectively no news intake), cutting me off from the larger world, due to a bill payment that someone forgot to make...

I love life.

Today...

Today, I baked bread. ^__^ One loaf of wheaten bran bread, one of a rye-buckwheat country pumpernickel, and two of very, very complicated Russian black bread that's almost as good (but still different from) the bread I remember from Sankt-Peterburg. That's all. Nothing earth-shattering. Just a free day, and a plan to bake, and a few hours of effort, and I have product that I'd have to pay $25-30 US for at market (assuming I could find a market here that would actually >make< these, especially the black bread). ^__^ moderately #happy

My name

In an IRL conversation and then in another with Sarah Lynn Morgan, I got to thinking about names, and how important it is to a person to be called by a name they've internalized. From the time most people are little, they hear their name again and again. It becomes >their< word, a very personal, emotional thing. If there is a negative feeling associated with that name (as may be the case when one has massive problems with their gender, and their name is very gender-bound to the painful gender) then the name becomes painful to hear.

Happy Tax Day

Several years ago, my dad nearly missed being there with my mom when her labor reached its peak, as he ran down to get his tax papers into the mail before the deadline. Ever since I've really been aware of taxes, I've celebrated Tax Day, trying to remember not to let paperwork get in the way of people, and trying not to be too disappointed when others do.
