Tears in a Bottle

One night, as I lay weeping in my bed, I fell asleep, and began to dream. In my dream, I was lifted up and passed through the gates beyond this life. Once there, I was attended by beings so vast and powerful I felt such shame just being in their presence I could hardly stand it.

But then He came, and I felt much worse.

It wasnt any particular sin that gave me pause, but everything about me was just so small and petty I expected Him to look at me with disgust.

But he didnt.

“I just don’t know what to do next,” I admitted, pacing around the living room. Mom and Mama Gwen were on the sofa, while Debbie and Grandma sat in the chairs. Dad was at the dining room table, working on his laptop, but listening to what was going on.

The Archivist

I am the Archivist. My sole reason for existing is to observe and record what happens on your planet earth and its nearby galaxies. I am forbidden to interfere. In this, I fulfill my purpose.

This record begins 46 earth years ago. This is but the span of but a single breath for Archivists, but is half a lifetime for Terra’s dominant species. The subject of this record goes by more than one title. The subject goes by Edward, but also Alice. They go by Daddy, but also daughter. This subject has grabbed my attention.

"Where is everyone?" Dave enquired when he and Josh returned to the lounge area.

"The girls dragged Drew off upstairs," Dieter supplied, “is everything alright?”

"Looks like I'm driving back home tonight, my offspring hasn't got any riding kit, left it at home."

I remember the first time I saw that outfit. I was, once again, in my sister's bedroom watching her as she got ready for yet another date. I would lay on her bed and watch her spend hours, ok not really but felt like it, doing her makeup just so and then her hair. When she was done she would turn to me and say "So?"

Usually I would comment on how beautiful she was or something. That time though When she turned away and went to search through her pile of shoes for her outfit I spotted a new outfit hanging just inside the door.

Brooklyn’s looking confused and her eyes are shining with near tears and she’s looking at the computer then pulls her knees up wraps her arms around them and rests her head on Kimmie. “I…are…we actually doing something good? I never though I’d ever do anything that’d make a difference.”
