Thanks to Gabi

I just wanted to thank Gabi for her help editing my recent stories, particularly 'Harvey and the pretty girl'. There are a few more chapters to post before Halloween and I just wanted to make sure that I thanked her properly. I struggle just to write the words at the moment with everything else that is going on in my life, so it means a lot to have someone who will pitch in and help with editing.
All the mistakes are mine and all the corrected spellings are hers :-)

A Cracker Barrel Christmas

“A Cracker Barrel Christmas”

Plot starter:

Nichole Armitage works at the local Cracker Barrel—the hangout for the much older crowd—and she befriends an old man who would like to fix her up with his grandson. At the same time, her brother and his family (wife and three kids) come to visit and he’s visibly not happy that his parents and Nichole kept her transition a secret from him.

Sooo...

I would like to thank all those who chose to read my little tale 'Jools'. I originally had no intention of a follow up to 'Jools'. But I was enamored with the characters and the setting and just could not resist. Plus... What better way to screw up a decent tale than with a follow up? I now want to go to Denmark and spend the rest of my life eating smoked and pickled fish and cheeses.

What it is to be a woman a Tvchix bomb

What it is to be a woman, I asked on here and got some good answers. I asked it on a contact site I have been of for a few years and started world war 3! There are 15 pages so far. Mainly 3 or people arguing.

I put a comment on there this morning and there have been a 112 posts since then.

The main argument started about Professor Kathleen Stock , who has strong views on "intact" trans women. Then it just took off. A lot of people on there have axes to grind.

I don't think you can see without an account though.

a brain-fart day

So today was a brain-fart day.

I wanted to go to Costco, because we had bought a new cell phone there, and I wanted to get automatic payments set up.

Only when I got there I discovered I had not brought the phone, the phone number, or the account number.

So back home to get the stuff and go back, and they gave me paperwork to take to the bank.

Go to the bank and they say all they can do is give us paperwork and send us back to Costco.

New Walker's Path is out!

Hello out there,

A new chapter of Walker's Path is out!

A bit of a warning. Its name "Violation" is that way for a reason. If you have problems reading about being sexually assaulted I suggest not reading this chapter. Even though it's only a kiss to the person it happens to it feels as if the whole world is against you.

I was able to get a copy of "The Martian Chronicles" by Ray Bradbury from Amazon, and re-reading it reminds me how much I loved it.

It also inspired one of my first stories here: https://bigclosetr.us/topshelf/fiction/19389/perfect-opportu...

If you've never read it, I'd love it if you did, and of course comments are always appreciated!

Still Brings Tears

I remember Charlotte Church from when she was not yet adolescent, and her singing was wonderful. Her heavenly tones helped me to survive the really hard times, though I was still hospitalized a half dozen times. These days it seems that the tears of failure are cried. Blessings to you and yours Charlotte Church.

First Draft is done!

Hello out there,

Just finished the first draft of Walker's Path Chapter 14. There are a few parts that feel a bit disjointed but I'm sure when I make a second pass through I'll iron most of them out.

It's a long chapter again which I'm sure most of you won't mind.

This one made me cry because I was in a similar situation before. You'll understand when you see it.

Looking forward to seeing your reactions!

Have a great day!

Mea Culpa - Or how I goofed up big time

As Brittney sings, 'Oops I did it again', I messed up my postings big time. Thanks to a blog by Maryanne Peters, I found that I have posted one part of County Sheriff well out of sequence.

There are a number of parts that should have been posted before 'The Interview'. One comment got me thinking and then when answering Maryanne's blog post earlier today, it clicked.
It goes to show that no filing system is 100% perfect.

I've been rereading

Taylor Ryan's, Bailey Saga, which starts with Summer of Bailey.

I was the one who suggested Taylor should post here and I'm glad she did, the saga is a detailed description of the tribulations of adolescence made worse by the background of gender discomfort and bigotry or homophobia from some quarters. Virtually all the main characters have a story to tell as Bailey grows as a person and grows up in general. It is a very well written series that brings into focus the roller coaster ride that is adolescence and one person's in particular.

Story Management

I write too much. I am not as attractive as I once was, I am overweight and I write too much. There - I have said it.
But the problem is that I am still doing it - voraciously.
Is there a story count mechanism on BC? Not that I need it. The number will be too many.
But then in responding to a message about "Kerry Cottage" I have discovered that a story that has appeared on Fictionmania has not been posted here! I will fix that, but it is distressing.
Does anybody know of any other full story appearing over there that is not here when it should be?

Janegirl Camp Gender Chat Questions

I've been working on the next chapter of Janegirl Camp, where Zee, Raine, and Jess join a Gender Chat session hosted by Mrs Shepherd. After everyone there introduces themselves, I was thinking of there being a gender themed question and answer session, but I'm not sure what sorts of questions might be interesting. Does anyone have any suggestions of what gender themed questions you might have asked, if you were a kid between ten and twelve, while being a camper at Janegirl Camp?

Taking professional errors as encouragement

Two friends of mine work in Hollywood. One is a writer, and when he first went out there, the word spread among our friends that a well-known detective show was using one of his scripts. We were all pretty excited. None of us had ever read a word he'd written, so we didn't know what to expect.

Then, as a kind of aside, we learned that very late in their schedule, the script the show MEANT to use suddenly developed problems and had to be withdrawn. They needed a replacement YESTERDAY, but the only script on hand was the one my friend has written.

Trying to remember story title

All i can remember is a particular scene

Written by Julie O
Protagonist Ally Burns (Assistant Director of the Agency. i think)

Ally has to deal with a problem at a regional office of the Internet crimes investigation office

the lead agent has lent agents and equipment to other agencies, as he (if i remember correctly) doesn't see the department has a use in the agency.

Also i think there is some resentment as he sees Ally as an affirmative action hire by the Agency.

Thoughts on Woodcrest and BC

One of the biggest questions I get here, is 'What happened to Woodcrest?', which is kind of an exaggeration because most of you aren't even reading it. So why did I stop writing it exactly? I first want to say that when I first started writing here, I began with Allison's Pledge because there were no good sorority stories on here. Now I know that many of you are going to provide links to what you think is the best sorority story on here and I just want to say no, it isn't.

Then please do take a look at Jamie Hayworth's Susie and Jeffrey stories, they are a laugh a minute and a tribute to the theatre of the absurd. They do require a little work if you're not British, as the setting is very British, but it isn't all black pudding and flat caps. Also please go for a wee first or there is a danger you may have little accidents and don't eat or drink while reading them unless you have a wipe-clean screen, but do enjoy, they're really funny.

What it is to be a woman

The story I am writing at the moment has the main character wanting to be a woman, but not wanting any surgery (currently) . It has raised the question for me. What is is to be a women.

Is it the clothes you wear? The role you have in society? The way you act and interact? Your Chromosomes? Or the fact you possess a cervix.

The last one is something a Labour MP has said "only women have a cervix". So is she saying trans men aren't men or women born without a cerix or have had it removed aren't women?

There are a lot of details I WON'T get into, but suffice it to say there was a lot of drama in my personal life. There has also been a lot of positive change and progress made, I am now living as myself full time and in about half a month I will be hitting a full year on HRT! Wow, I can hardly believe that it's been that long!

Over and over again, usually just when I started making headway, I'd do something stupid and blow everything to pieces.

If I had any hope that the work I've been doing on myself the last few years had cured me of that ailment, last night proved otherwise.

See, I went to pick up Sharon, and on the way there had to merge into the other lane because of construction, but unfortunately there was another car already there.

Hey everyone,

Just a quick update to let you all know that I'm still not feeling so great with this cold that's hanging on and the personal stuff but I have been trying to work on some writing when I have the energy. It's going a lot slower than I would like but I am hoping to get chapters posted this week even if they're a bit late. I'm going to try my best and I'm making slow progress on a chapter of Apocalypse Dawn so hopefully, I'll at least get that done. We'll see how it goes.

A new episode of Writing Walker's Path has been released!

There's some talk of the future in this one and how Chapter 14 is going to be one of the last bad experiences for Walker. In general, I want Walker to come out of this with a good outlook and hopefully, I can outweigh the negative with positive.

Also Chapters 3-5 have been edited! I'll continue to edit these and hopefully get all of the little grammar bugs poking around.

A Good Bishop, taken off the Board

I read an obituary today in my local paper. It was for Bishop John Shelby Spong who died this month at the ripe old age of 90. I had heard him talk on the radio in the mid-eighties and he came across as a radical Anglican with modern views. He openly admitted that he considered himself an atheist and then went on to explain that he believed in God, it was Organised Religion he had a problem with. Well, they had a problem with him at times. He was ordained in 1955 and served in North Carolina and Virginia before becoming Bishop of Newark, New Jersey where he stayed for 24 years.

Insomnia and Inspiration

While laying in bed in the middle of last night and not sleeping as one does, the muse decided to sprinkle her fairy dust upon my rest-deprived noggin. Where to wedge it in was even included in the moment of 'well-duh!'.

Southern accent?

A few weeks ago, I'd been in an online writer's group, and shared a chapter of one of my stories. One of the people in the group asked me why my character was talking with a Southern accent. Does anyone else who's read my stories see any accent like that? The only places I've lived have been New Jersey and California, so I'm really not sure where I might have picked up a Southern accent.

Good Morning!

The last thing I published here was the beginning of a novel I was writing called Vacation.

Some of you read it, and I want your suggestions...

It needs a publishable title. Vacation is not going to cut it and I'm interested in hearing any suggestions you might think of.

The third part of the book is coming back from my editor soon, so it will appear within the month. That means that before I publish it to Amazon, I have to erase it here. So, if you want to see the first third of the book, read it here before it's removed.

Now in order to leave a comment I have to,
1. Write it
2. Choose Save or Preview
3. If I Save it, no big deal, it’s done
4. However, If I Preview it and like it I have to scroll all the way to the bottom of the story to hit the Save it button, (no down link)
5. And, god help me if I want to Preview it again, because then I have to scroll all the way to the top, (don’t hit the up button!!). Then, if I finally like it, repeat Step 4 to save.
Whew.

What am I missing guys?

I was right. It took another week to complete chapter 13.

I need to edit it today or tomorrow and then it should be ready for Friday.

While chapter 13 is fresh off the press (of my fingers on a keyboard) I can't help but mention that chapter 14 is already some of what I would consider my best work. I only started writing it today and I'm blown away at how well I am at expressing these particular emotions.

No spoilers, just know that I am really feeling chapter 14. Mostly because the emotions in it so far have been pent up in me.
