"Gaby with her singing career" - Maddy Bell, 2022/01/23 "The Sound of Music" blog entry
My finances have sucked for years. Some years ago I finally decided I've got to stop buying Gaby books as they come out. And eventually I succeeded. And then the next book out was "Gaby Ontario". And I agonized and I fretted. And eventually I said "OK. I live in Ontario. I can buy just one more." And I bought it.
And then, for years I have heroically avoided clicking on the "Buy Now" button as each new book came out. It was hard. I kept telling myself "Maddy eventually publishes her stuff for free. I can wait. I can hold out.". The promised land of free chapters will arrived.
And then Maddy published "Gaby Book 24 ~ Fame ~ Chapter *1*" on BCTS and I thought "Yes! I am doing it. I am mastering my Gaby addiction. I will not borrow more money to satisfy my thirst for more awesome books." And it felt SO good to know I can control myself and master my fate.
And then, with those 5 simple words typed by Maddy Bell, my will has been broken, my resolve shattered and, after a mad flurry of clicking "Buy Now" buttons, I am about to descend into a mad binge of awesomeness as I read the latest Gaby books, knowing that, when book 27 comes out I will be once again be clicking on that "Buy Now" button to feed my fix.
Drat you, you awesome author you. You are my kryptonite.

rest assured i appreciate your lack of will, mayhap i can avoid the beans on toast for another couple of days! Finished writing another chapter today - only 33 more to go!

Yes, I am well aware of just how important the money you get from each sale is to you. It is the other reason why I didn't want to stop buying Gaby books. And the only reason I have been able to keep a roof over my head is because I own my house and I have a line of credit that I have tried to borrow from as slowly as possible.
Well enjoy being able to buy wieners to go with the beans on toast for a few meals. (I don't know why but in Canada and the U.S. "beans and wieners" refers to when you add chunks of hot dogs to the beans.) Being on a very tight budget sucks but there is definitely worse.
