hockey coach pleads guilty to abuse

Well, I just heard that Graham James, a former hockey coach, has plead guilty to abusing players in his care, including former NHLer Theo Fleury. I hope they throw the book at him, but I'm not counting on it - he had already been convicted of abuse in other cases, served a couple of years, and was even pardoned. Sigh.

my ex confuses me

Taxonomy upgrade extras:

I'm having trouble figuring out my ex. Yesterday, after the Christmas do at my brother's, I took my daughter home, and since I didn't have to work, I came into my ex's house for a bit. While I'm there, my ex starts playing with my hair, complimenting me on its softness and length, and making suggestions to help cover up my bald spot. Then today, when I was dropping off my daughter, she noticed I now have pink gloves, and gave me the third degree for their color. Like I said, she confuses me.

wanting to live the life of the characters I write about...

Taxonomy upgrade extras:

Author:

This is in general to other authors who write. Have you ever wanted to live the life of the characters that you write about? I often feel this way, especially when the character is like Christine in my 'Christine's Love' story. She personifies everything that I find fascinating in a female. On a side note, often when I write, I find that I place myself into the story and strangely enough, I seem to sense how they would respond...I find it strange but possibly it really isn't, as I am sure that other authors do this themselves. I'm sorry, I'm rambling...I really need to get to writing.

The good news is that I have a month to catch up on writing before new classes start. So I aim to have new 300 Rains, new The Journey is the Destination and hopefully some Whateley. That will be nice if I can pull that off.

But no more classes at the moment! Whee!

After several years of reading on the site, I decided to join and try my hand at a story. So I kept prodding along and suddenly I had an 80,000+ word novel on my hands.

Story voice

Taxonomy upgrade extras:

I often worry that as I write almost entirely in the first person, my characters would end up becoming, to be honest, 'me' and all the same. It is a difficult one to judge, because in writing said lead role I tend to be doing it by the 'method'. Annie is me, Gillian is me, Steph shared more than a name while I brought her to life. What surprised me, however, was a remark at work.

Two of my colleagues are reading the dead-tree version of 'Uniforms'and one of them passed a comment after Chapter 2.

That is when I really stress out. I feel more comfortable at times as a girl then I do as a boy, but most of the time it is a balance between both boy and girl. I going to try talking to my mom next. I’d like know what you all think.

Thanks for being supportive,

They are mostly strict Southern Baptist and Pentecostal and they do not like anything that doesn't conform to their narrow minded view of the world.

The girls of my life growing up

I had boys that I was friends with. At times I hung out with them a lot more, but growing up I always had that one girl that I looked to when I was unsure about how to act, or that I looked to when the boys I played with confused me or just got too rough.

An Object Lesson

Taxonomy upgrade extras:

I wrote a story this week which is in the "let it stew" stage. As I should, I used spell check and discovered some alleged mistakes in my writing. One of the sentences I wrote said, "So, I watched him and her together wishing I was her." Spell check said, "...wishing I was she." The disputed word is an object of the sentence fragment, not the subject ("I" is the subject of the fragment). therefore "her" is correct.

Moral: use "Spell Check" but also use your brain. "Spell Check" is only a computer program.

Where do I get my ideas from. The spark for a story comes from anything. Another story, stubbing a toe, cussing at the stupid cat. I do say spark because thats just what it is *What if...* is pretty much the spark. From there I have a picture in my head then it starts moving with a life all its own.

The writer me just uses words to try to describe what I see think and feel in my head.

So Close

I came so close. I was only able to wite 48,500 words for NaNoWriMo

It was the week of Thanksgiving that killed it. I had to spend so much time with family and food that I wasn't able to write.

My spouse would kill me if I suggested that I try again next year. I guess I was missed.

I did get a LOT written. 8 chapters of HaP are done, but not exactly edited. and I finshed off Nano.

Hope you give 'Healing a Princess' a chance. I see that some people are reading it. I just wish that they would give a little feed back even though it isn't a TG story.

Amazon Kindle Story Theft

Taxonomy upgrade extras:

Author:

I have gotten into the ebook world a bit late (smartphone screens are hard on my older eyes) but I recently loaded Amazon's Kindle app onto my android tablet.

While searching for (ahem) favored types of stories, I found one entitled "Feminized Harem Slave" attributed to one Austin Logan. I downloaded the teaser excerpt only to find that, with the names changed, it is my story "The Sultan's Heir". I know this because ONLY the names have been changed - searching on text strings from my story shoot directly to the same spot in THAT story.

Funny moment at the bank

I had a funny moment at the bank today. I went in to get cash for my mom, as I am now paying rent here, and the clerk took my card, looked at the male name, looked back at me, and went "But... but.. your hair, your ....." So to save her, I told her I was transitioning, and the card was in my legal name. She got the money for me, and I thanked her for making my day. Funny, yes?

I'm Dreaming of a White Christmas

I've always loved the gowns worn at the end of that movie, its always been my favorite movie. However I may be guilty of reading too much stuff on this website....

Bob Wallace and Phil Davis are trying to get the girls to leave. Saying they will cover their escape. Betty questions what they are going to do and they respond with their half baked plan to imitate the hanes sisters act. The girls stop saying they do not want to be made a mockery of. The scene blacks out as Betty says "these dresses actually have a bit of stretch to them."

I had a very interesting conversation this morning. I am finishing up a graduate degree at a local university. This morning while waiting for a class to start, a girl I know pretty well from my program comes up to me and asked me "Listen, this might be a bit forward but can I ask you something kind of personal? You can say no of course, but I'm curious." Of course it's rarely good when someone opens a conversation like that, but not totally new to me. I have a very obvious physical disability, so I get curious people brave enough to come ask a few questions from time to time.

Dearest Marcie

If my calculations are correct you should recieve this letter shorty after witnessing the mustang being hit by lightning.

Rest assured I am happily living here as the wife to a blacksmith in 1885.

I found that I could not repair the X Flux capacitor with available materials. Included is a schematic for my 1955 counterpart to enable you to return to your previous life.

Do NOT under any circumstances are you to come and get me.

All my Love Evelyn Brown.

I have to go to bed - I'm very tired.

Hugs to all,

Angharad.

Dreams

For many many years now I have had similar dreams from time to time.

It always starts in familiar place which then turns more and more unknown till I'm complete lost and wake up.

In one version I'm in school or college with my classmates and after some time I don't recognice the rooms and floors any more and don't find my way back.

In another one I'm parking my car in my home town and visit some places with friends or family. Then towards the end I cannot find the street with my car or search all around the parking garage before waking up.

Complaint vs Criticism

Taxonomy upgrade extras:

Author:

If your main comment about a story is that you don't like the genre, theme, premise or morals of the characters, then you don't have a comment, you have a complaint.

It's not criticism, it's simple whining that someone did not write a particular story to fit your requirements. Get over it and go read something else.
