December 24, The Ranch: Deck the halls with boughs of holly, Fa la la la la, la la la la.
Tis the season to be jolly, Fa la la la la, la la la la.
Don we now our gay apparel, Fa la la la la, la la la la.
Troll the ancient Yuletide carol, Fa la la la la, la la la la.
See the blazing Yule before us, Fa la la la la, la la la la.
Strike the harp and join the chorus. Fa la la la la, la la la la.
Follow me in merry measure, Fa la la la la, la la la la.
While I tell of Yuletide treasure, Fa la la la la, la la la la.
The flames flickered in Sid’s dull eyes, as he listened to the harsh, dying screams of the stray cat. This alley never wanted for them, fortunately, and he had plied the old tomcat with a can of old tuna he had found in a nearby dumpster, his usual method. Then he threw it in a rusted metal garbage can, doused it with gasoline, and set it alight with one of his matches.
Myra goes to the Christmas dance with an important mission in mind. To carry it out, she'll have to do a few things that she'd rather not do, like asking for a favor from a man of the law.
“Attention students, auditions are being held Friday at 3:00 pm for this year’s Christmas play. All students interested, please see Mrs. Freedman to sign-up. That’s all and have a wonderful day.”
The bell rings and all the students leave the room, except Montana. He had his homeroom teacher for English. He winces when he pulls his
English book out of his battered backpack. His arm was still hurting where his step-father had grabbed him and threw him against the wall for waking him.
He dropped his arms and stared at himself in the mirror. Zadie, back from the dead.
It was sobering. It was shocking, and it made him realize how dangerous the medallion was.
“I’m sorry,” she said. “I’ve been through a lot in the past few days -- I mean, the past DAY --
but I have to say, I haven’t seen my face look that sad in a long time.
What’s wrong?”
“I hear you need some help getting your car back,” Grady said,
and his voice resonated in her chest. In that moment,
it was the sexiest thing on earth that any man had ever said.
“Yes,” she replied, hoping he could detect all of the heat and desire
that she’d loaded into that word.
Jackie began to feel the weight of what had happened to her. Here she was,
going God knows where, to do God knows what with God knows who...
half-naked in a silly Christmas outfit in the middle of summer.
It was one of those cheap Halloween costumes, the type that’s sexy this or sexy that.
Sexy policewoman, sexy nurse, sexy maid, sexy devil. What they all had in common
was a short skirt to show lots of leg, a low neckline to show lots of cleavage, and
tight panties to show lots of... well, lots of those brightly-colored panties.

Two weeks ago, Jay's secret was discovered at the mall. Instead of running and hiding from it like usual, he decided to embrace it. Now he's about to reveal her true self and is terrified that people won't accept her for who she truly is.
Santa is no longer the merrymaker we all remember. After his wife has left him, Santa turns to alcohol to fill the void in his heart. It’s Samson the elf’s job to keep him from doing anything that would get him into trouble, but when the old man accidentally consumes a mysterious potion, Samson finds his job has gotten a whole lot more difficult.
Our house wasn’t there. Mr. Starrett’s house was on the left, with his red F-150 in the driveway, and the Petrovs' house was on the right, with no cars in the driveway but all their super-early Christmas decorations on the porch and lawn (it wasn’t even Halloween yet) — and there was nothing between them.
When they came home to find themselves literally homeless -- their house gone, and no sign it had ever been there -- they thought things couldn't get worse. They were wrong. But things can get better just as unexpectedly.
It was three days before Christmas and Karen was getting anxious. This was going to be her first real Christmas. She has been living with Betty and sleeping with her ever since Sasha had informed her that he wasn’t going to renew the lease on his apartment. At first it had been a disappointment to her, because even though she was working full time at the paint store, she wasn’t making enough money on her own to pay the rental fee or the bills. Then when Betty had offered to let her stay with her, she jumped at the offer. She was already willing to do whatever Betty asked of her.

(We continue this holiday season story about the dress I saw in a store window while on a Christmas shopping trip. This special dress helped me realize a truth about myself.)

Cynthia and the Christmas Gift - Reposted
Complete
By Portia Bennett
This is a little stand-alone story that eventually became part of a chapter in Cynthia and the High School Years — Part 1. As there are many new readers at this site, I thought they might enjoy another Christmas story. If you enjoy the story and are not familiar with the characters, you might want to read the Cynthia Chronicles.
‘I was somewhat tired after the sing-along and it was obvious to the sensible adults that after everything that had happened to me, I needed rest and some quiet time...
The Carson family has a yearly Christmas tradition of asking Santa for what they really want. This year, Santa decides to give it to them... but makes a slight mistake. This story was originally written and posted in 1998.
‘I stood at the garden gate and looked back at the house for the final time. The front door was shut and the place where I had lived all my life was now closed to me...

Part I
"You know something, princess, you get prettier every time I see you."
I put my head on his shoulder and looked up at him. "And you dear prince get handsomer every time I see you. I love you, Paul."
"I love you too, sweet princess. Before we get home, I have to tell you that your room will be right next to mine, and there is a bathroom between us. So when you need to use our bathroom, knock on the door first. Then lock my side so I just don't wander in. Don't forget to unlock it when you're finished.

Chapter 1 - Mom gets a present, too.
The girls were having so much fun opening their presents, that they didn't see Madelline come in. After going in the office and talking with Jack and Jan, and reading the report from Hazel, she went out in the living room. Jack and Jan slipped quietly out the door.
Joy, seeing Madelline standing there, fished around in the pile of presents, and found the one she was looking for.
"This one simply says, Mom." Joy stood up and gave Madelline her present.

(Author's Note: There are 123 presents to open at the Pine Meadows Home For Adolescent Girls, and I will not go through all 21 girls opening their presents. You have to read and digest this chapter to understand why there are so many presents for only 21 girls. Barbara Lynn Terry)
Chapter 1 - The girls continue opening their presents.
"This next present is for Susan Connor." Joy handed Susan her present.

Chapter 1 - Janice sees her new home.
Tommy drove in the drive way of Shaiya and Janice' new home. They all got out of the car, and Shaiya unlocked the door. There was a small vestibule just inside the door, for hanging coats and putting their boots. After setting their boots under their coats, they went inside the inner door. There was a nice sized foyer that was the size of most living rooms you would find in an apartment in most cities.

Chapter 1 - Rachel.
Naomi and Rachel walked some more. Even though it was icy cold outside, Naomi was used to it because of her job. Rachel didn't seem bothered, either, because she was deep in thought.
Stephanie Brown is hoping for a quiet night on Christmas Eve, the highlight of which is going to a party at the manor. What she didn't expect was her night to be ruined by a man obsessed with holidays.
As I walked in, all my fears and doubts came to the surface. I wanted to turn around and run away–away from those eyes, all looking at me; especially one pair...
Did I just look like a boy dressed up as a girl and was I kidding myself that these people would help?
The sight of the bay, the sand and the harbour, the lights of the village and upon top of the hill, the twinkling of the lights on the huge Christmas tree by the floodlit church, all gave me heart and a spring in my step and I almost ran down the road to the place where I hoped I would find help, comfort and safety...
