No Bike tonight

Sorry folks, been up in Lunnun all day as part of my training for the Tour de France (I'm not riding it, just helping to make it happen). Walked miles around the Olympic Park and didn't get home until late evening, so I'm afraid I'm too tired to do Bike tonight. Hopefully if I can wake myself up by tomorrow, I'll try and do the next exciting(yawn),thought provoking (duh!) episode of BCTS own long (winded?)running soap. I'm sure you can't wait.

Writers Block?

We have so great writer on BCTS and as of late there has been a shortage of stories from some of our regular writers and some of the long stories with multi chapters that never got finished. I know real life gets in the way of fun and I as a non writer should not complain BUT maybe I can get some new stories started from some semi retired writers

Termites and Gun Shots

It's termite swarm season here in Florida and guess whose house has got them. MINE. For some reason there was a roll of Toilet paper on the entertainment center and when I went to move it I noticed all these wings just laying around. Weird, I thought, the pixie's decided to hoof it. I went to move the toilet paper back to the toilet paper room (a.k.a. bathroom, a.k.a. danger zone). To my surprise, thousands (maybe less) of termites were crawling in and around the TP roll. So I threw the roll out and hopefully all the termites.

Forced Vacation

Well, yesterday, I got chewed out by my Human Resources manager because I hadn't taken any vacation time during my last year of working for Walmart, and she and my supervisor insisted on me taking it as soon as possible.

So I will be on vacation for two weeks starting June 8, but I have no idea what I will be doing with myself. I have no money for a trip anyplace, so it will be a "stay-cation", and it could be rather boring ...

Ah, well.

Question about story size.

Okay. I have a story ready to post. It's one I've edited by another writer. Here's my question. It's about 80,000 words, according to my info thingie in word. Is that too big to post all at once? Do you all prefer shorter chapters or do you like to read a story in one shot from start to finish? Will the site accommodate a story of that size without problems? Is there any size limitation on the length of a story?

Bad news about my foot

well, yesterday I went to the doctor's about my foot, and my 2nd worst fears have been confirmed. My worst fear was that it was cancer, which it isn't, but my second-worst fear was that they would tell me there's nothing more they can do for me, and that's what's happened. Apparently, they don't think surgery is a good choice because the risks of nerve damage, so basically, I can try to stuff a pad into my shoe and hope that helps, and otherwise, I get to just live with it.

Ah, well. with my gender issues, I already knew I wasn't gonna ever be pain free anyway ...

New Erotica Title available for Kindle

Hi guys and girls. I'm not really new here but since this is my first time publishing I thought I would let you know that there is new Erotica on Kindle. The book is called "On Call" by Abigail Tudai. It really is hot and steamy and a whole lot of fun about what Brad does when his nurse wife leaves him to his own devices and the handsome doctor next door pays a visit.

TIME Magazine — Transgender People

If you are one of "them" and word pronoun sensitive, there is going to be a lot of hurt in the world as people describe transgender, transsexuals. Sure everyone would like to be complimented on how pretty, how handsome, how attractive, or they smell nice. People being human are more quickly to criticize than compliment.

On the other hand it isn't fair to judge others by our own ideas and concepts. He or she thinks I'm a freak of nature. They hate me for exposing the lie their prefect little divided world of boy is boy and girl is girl, then that's their problem.

This lovely little attack on me at the FM Hyperboard.

That's part of why I stopped posting free stories 3 years ago.

For me, this is exactly why posts on the Hyperboard to paid stories are not welcome, you have professed that you are no longer contributing to the community, but want us to follow your links and pay for your work.

A question about Dialog for one of my stories

I am Lucille and P posted a story here last night. Its up. Its about a man being forcibly feminized in the 16th century on the orders of Queen Mary Tudor. I wrote it and I think its pretty good. But, then a question came to mind. The Dialog, how they spoke. I know my story was set in England in 1550s.

Wasn't their English vastly different than our own now? I know it was, if we could go back to then and try to talk to someone in 1550 London, would they even know what we were saying?

TGStoryTime

I know it seems disloyal but I visit TGStoryTime from time to time. There's a link there from the Home page here. It's another story site and hosted by Joe SixPack. However it's suddenly become unavailable and leads me to a site called HostGator.com and generates a 403 Forbidden error. I visited it earlier today with no problem. Any ideas?

Teiresias - why change back?

You know the story of Teiresias? Oh sorry, I keep forgetting that a lot of people don't know the old Greek myths. Teiresias was a blind seer and prophet well known in Greek mythology. There are two stories of how he got to be that, the transgender version and the non-transgender version. The transgender version is much the more interesting.

Next part of out of the ashes

I will post part 4 of my tale in a couple of days when I get to Durango. At the moment I'm about to watch the sun go down from inside Monument Valley. Yeah, it costs and arm and a leg to stay inside the park but it will probably be a long time before I come back this way.
Drove down through Bryce Canyon today. A lot quieter than yesterday (Sunday) but it was 06:00. Saw the sun rise and left around 06:45. Drove south on 'Cottonwood Valley Road'. This is dirt for most of its 48 miles. Would not want to get stuck out there..... Didn't see one other vehicle in the whole trip.

Editors Untie! No, wait.... Editors Unite!

The site's been seeing a lot of requests for editors lately for stories, and I for one have to say that's a GREAT thing. It shows that more and more of our posters here are showing dedication to producing good quality work, and the site improves as a result.

The problem is FINDING editors. Whether it's just that they tend to be picky, busy, or nervous about offering to help non-established writers, a lot of times the editor request threads don't get a tremendous amount of response.

Just finished a story by Jerrie256. Reminded me of Bob A.

called "Transformation Treasure Hunt." She wrote it in 2006, but while reading it, it seemed to be constantly reminding me of Bob Arnold. The link is here. Go read it and tell me I'm mistaken. Bob was such a huge part of all of our lives and is still missed... always will be, by all the lives he touched and enriched during his all-too-short stay with us.

"But inside, I'm screaming"

I just finished reading a book called "But inside, I'm screaming". Its the story of a young reporter who has a breakdown and ends up in a mental hospital, and the story is about her slow journey back to mental health.

You wouldn't think that would be a good story for me to read, especially as I have been fighting depression all week, but her learning how to love herself even if she isn't perfect was inspiring to me.

I can recommend the book to anyone.

Thank you Veterans & Merchant Mariners Memorial Day 2014.

This is Memorial Day weekend, 2014 and I think it behooves us all, no matter what nationality, race, creed or religion to take a moment and thank all those who have served and who are serving in the armed forces of their countries. Without their sacrifices, without them doing the job they either volunteered or were drafted into doing, we wouldn't have the freedoms and privileges we have now. Some returned from far off battlefields and some didn't, but we all owe every one of them our thanks, our gratitude. Let's also not forget the Merchant Mariners.

Sigh. The last few days have not gone well.

So, it all began a few days ago when my modem decided to limit my time on the internet, dropping the signal and kicking me offline. It did it three or four times in one 24 hour period, so I called my internet provider, Time Warner and informed them that my modem had somehow developed an overzealous and random sense of trying to keep me offline. They set up an appointment for someone to come and check the modem or replace it, if necessary. Pretty cool, right?

Review: The Constantine Affliction by T. Aaron Payton

The Constantine Affliction by T. Aaron Payton (Night Shade Books, 2012) is a steampunk detective story, set in an alternate London where a sexually transmitted disease has recently begun spreading, killing many and changing the sex of the survivors. This is central to the plot, but not in the way that it would be in a story that’s solidly in the TG fiction subgenre; none of the viewpoint characters are transformed, though a couple of major supporting characters were transformed in the backstory, and one other is transformed in the course of the story, though not onstage.

Because of this, I'm posting it in parts, and metering it out so that by the time I get to the being ready to post the end of Kayda 1, I will have written the last part of Kayda 1.

Milestones and near milestones

As I general rule, I always picture myself as a bottom rung kind of person who is trying to get to the next level but always seem to have some difficulty. I hardly ever see myself as popular or good at something and that mindset helps me continue working and improving. I oft times have this theory that something bad is going to happen and that people general dislike me for various reasons. I know my writing doesn't appeal to everyone, but whose does?

Story Theme

I was trying to think yesterday whether I've ever read a story where the usual teen-age (give or take) male dweeb -- shy, introverted, socially clueless -- after finding it necessary or desirable to live as a girl or young woman for a time, discovers that having done so allows him to fit in more confidently as his male self, able to be more assertive, recognize social cues and better understand other people's reactions and behavior.

Hopefully things will get better and I can dedicate time to writing.

A question for authors

There is something I've always wondered about. Some authors seem to refuse to real world references. They write a story set in the US, but the characters shop at stores called Q*Mart, drink Fake Cola, eat at Tennessee Fried Chicken, and so on. Other authors seem to have include a TM or Copyright sign after every trademarked or copyrighted name. I don't see this in mass market fiction. Are those authors afraid of being sued? If I'm Coca Cola I'm suing someone with money, not some unknown writer on the internet.

Can someone that does that, or did that explain why?

Transgender Latinas from Queens, NY.

This turned up on the Guardian website and I found it very sad. There are some links to reports and also some photos of the 'girls' working as prostitutes. Sometimes I think I need to count my blessings more often. The intolerance they have had or still receive is beyond my experience no wonder the health issues, substance abuse and other problems are so prevalent.

National Let Your Boy Be a Girl Day

I was web surfing and happened across an article entitled "National Let Your Boy Be a Girl Day" An interesting idea. I definitely could have used such a day when I was growing up. My family tried to toughen me up (see my "Silence is Golden")but it didn't work. I only hid my femininity (not entirely successfully) until after I was married and had a child.

Congratulations Tanya Allan

I think it's important to celebrate when one of us does well in the commercial markets. I don't think people quite understand how difficult it is to get ranked on Amazon within any Genre, especially bigger ones. Tanya has always enjoyed great success right out of the gate with anything she has published, so well that I'm down right jealous, and her newest release "In the Shadows" is no surprise. I'm glad to see something of length and value do so well.

So, what has me singing her praises....

Wes Boyd's The Girl in the Mirror

I just finished reading Wes Boyd's The Girl in the Mirror, and was very impressed. While not trans myself, it struck me as being a very good novel following a trans girl through her late adolescence, RLT, and following on post-op. Very sympathetic, very well written. I heartily recommend it to all of you.

Happy endings are not always the best call

In a story I am contributing to together with my Anglo-Irish literary shadow, I imagine there will be a desire on the part of the reader to see the protagonist, named Alev, and her love interest find a way of being together in the end. Alev’s love for him, however, is too precious to her to risk it by telling him the truth. By leaving as it is suggested at present, she can always live with the notion he loves her still in a way that is pure, unsullied by the harsh realities of the corrupt and venial world they both live in.
