Ok, so last week, I did some major deep tissue damage to my back and shoulders. This means that doing my homework (math this semester) is a pain in the neck, literally, let alone sitting for the four hours a day I need for writing my stories. Did I mention that I already spend eight hours a day at work doing typing?

Add to that the fact that I got both LEGO Universe (early) and The Lost Hero (book, unexpected) this weekend.

On top of that, I had my daughter's birthday to take care of on Saturday. Yes, she was a Halloween baby.

Well today was the first time I had seen one since, and he announced my girl name to everyone at the morning meeting. The general response was giggles as they assumed he was kidding, and that i was playing along. But, the result is that I think more people know about Dorothy than don't. Weird, huh? On a lighter note, nobody has yet guessed the character that is based on a well-known character featured on this site.

I have, for as long as I can remember, had a love affair with the language of music. In seventh grade (That's about age 12-13) my friends used to joke that when I played "A Whole New World" from Aladdin on my trumpet, it was like I went into a trance.

I never learned to read sheet music because of my vision problems. I actually found it MUCH easier to just learn to listen to what the guy next to me was playing and just copy him. I got so good at it that I could pick up a new part of a piece after an hour of practice listening to someone else sight-read it.

Musetta' Waltz was an experiment that I guarantee you I will never venture into again. I wanted to write a story about the transgendered prisoner that Richard O'Donnell fell in love with and eventually married. The problem was she was a three time loser, and that was the reason she was there in the first place. As I said somewhere before, I was painted into a corner, after all pleasant events, supportive family, acceptance are not going to get someone in jail. In defense of Musetta's Waltz, it does get better, a lot better for her.

I am concerned about the portrayal of TG in the media recently. For example, a Canadian Colonel has recently pled guilty of a escalating series of crimes that ended with the rape and murder of two women. But the image that has made the rounds is the man dressed in woman's underwear that he had stolen from women and girls, and his cross-dressing has been played up. Even my mother wondered if he was like me.... It would be wonderful if we could get someone from our community who does something wonderful, that we can show as positive role models. Ah well.

I would like to take a moment to talk about how the story "Choices" evolved. Like some other ideas i have had, this one came to me while I was struggling to sleep, and originally, it was a lot darker.

At the time, it was going to be about a straight male who is presented with horrible choices, of which slowly transforming into a woman is the least objectionable to him, even though he is not transgendered. Everyone believes this transformation is his own idea, and is totally supportive, which he finds frustrating.

I guess I need a 12 or 14 in their sizes. There's a lot more spandex in this fabric than I expected. The fabric stretches 10% or so without much strain. So, someone who wears a size 20 or so in real sizes might be able to wear these.

I can return them, but by the time they subtract return shipping, it's almost not worth it.

I've been doing a lot of thinking recently though, and between the advice of my no-longer perspective therapist (more on that after the break :-)) and advice I’ve received from friends and concerned community members here, I’ve come to a conclusion.

Howl at the moon (By Klaatu)

She was a sleek and slender enchantress
I'd met in the Casbah
When her green eyes first met mine
I was overwhelmed with awe

Well we dance all night to the tango
And she lured me with her charms
As the band played how I prayed
I'd awaken in her arms

(Chorus)

But when I howled at the moon
I know something was wrong
She had me in a spell
And I knew it wouldn't be too long
Before I'd end up
Before I'd end up here in a prison cell

More than half of transgender or gender non-conforming people who experienced
bullying or harassment have attempted suicide, according to a recently released
study.

The National Transgender Discrimination Survey, conducted by the National Gay
and Lesbian Task Force and the National Center for Transgender Equality,
revealed that 41 percent of respondents had attempted suicide, compared to a
national estimated rate of 1.6 percent.

She IS NOT me!

The extremely large picture associated with some of my comments as part of my signature line following some stories is not of me and I did not post it. I am sorry for any inconvenience the pic causes readers, but someone else in some way I don't understand must have gotten into my account and changed the link. I have now eliminated any pic link from my BC account and have changed my screen name, e-mail address, and password.

Help with Japanese

Taxonomy upgrade extras:

Two years ago I got something translated into Japanese for me. I think it was done at the TG fiction list but it could have been. I need to get it translated back to English. Here's what I wrote

Urigiri koto no kei desu ne, Reina-kun? Sayonara

If someone can help me, I'd appreciate it. Thank you.

Side note- Chapter 25 of Duty Honor Country Family is finished and now being worked on Puddin. It will be published later this week. I even have almost 2,000 words written for Chapter 26.

odd dream

Taxonomy upgrade extras:

Last night, I had a odd dream.

I had gotten a job as a security guard, and someone i knew from my real life job gave me a lift to a bus stop.

The bus turned out to not stop there, but I figured I could walk to somewhere where I could make a connection.

I then found myself cutting through a small shopping center, and my daughter appeared, and I had to cut her looking around short in order to try and catch a bus.

Another Chapter and another set of questions for poor Geoff to deal with. I almost feel sorry for him...

Anyway... got massively burned yesterday, so I am dealing with some sunsickness at the moment, which is really throwing me off my game. I tried to write some today but I managed only a short sentence. Not very useful. I am just taking care of myself and trying to avoid the sun.

Here's hoping.

Sorry - No 'Bike' tonight.

Sorry to disappoint my regulars, but I left home at 8.00am to go dormousing - the last of the season, and thence to my ex's house, where she had some jobs for me to do, and to take her shopping to places she can't easily go - she has no car.

We were late back to her house and were scolded by our daughter for our lack of punctuality. We then went off to a carvery for dinner, which ran late so I didn't leave to come home until after 9.00pm facing a two hour or more drive in the dark.

Making A List, Checking It Twice

Oops, sorry, wrong holiday!

But seriously, I had an idea that I want people's help with.

A while back I started posting challenges under the "Writer's Challenge" section of the site. For a little bit, they were going well, with people trying them and (hopefully) having fun with them. Then, like most everything else I do, I slowed down on posting them, and when people stopped doing them I eventually stopped adding new ones altogether.

Well, I'm thinking of trying it again, but this time a bit different.

I seem to be consciously and unconsciously trying to out myself. Yesterday, I was playing Wii with my daughter when she realized my character's name, and asked "Dorothy?" I just passed it off as just the name of my character, and she accepted that. I keep this up and I will be out long before I am ready.

Why does this have to be so hard?

Taxonomy upgrade extras:

Why is it that I can say the words in my head, over and over again. I know exactly what I'm feeling inside.

And then when it comes time to just say it, I completely choke to the point of racing behind a proverbial ten foot thick wall? It's almost like those feelings completely disappear for the brief few moments that that window of opportunity is there.

stuggling with depression and anger because of the local news

Taxonomy upgrade extras:

After I heard the news about Graham James, the hockey coach accused of abusing children who played for him, I really struggled with anger and depression. That this man was convicted, but still allowed to leave the country. really makes me feel like the authorities still don't take abuse seriously. Is there ever going to be justice for all those who were like me? How do I live with the fact my rapist never had to face punishment for what he did to me?

Feeling Depressed

Taxonomy upgrade extras:

Author:

I have been feeling depressed over the last few days and I have been crying more than I have for a long time. One of my best friends refuses to speak to me now because I got caught in the middle of a drama starring one of our mutual now ex friends from High School. This guy is a nutjob and he has been stalking her. He is convinced they are a couple even when she tries to tell him they aren't. I got mad and told him to leave her alone and she gets mad at me because she thinks I am partially to blame for this whole mess. I am afraid for her safety because he knows where she lives.

Thank you for a fun afternoon

Taxonomy upgrade extras:

I just spent an amazing afternoon meeting some of the authors on this site. Mostly I want to thank Holly Hart and Rachel Anne for working to put together a very nice picnic in Walnut Creek. That's in California for the geographically challenged. I was blessed to meet Mona Lisa, Heather Rose Brown, Erin, Rachel, Shalamar, whom I met when Holly moved and of course Holly Hart. We stuffed our faces with professionally grilled hamburgers, brats and beans, by Rachel Anne. It was nice to put a face on people I have admired for years. Thank you once again, Arecee

Edeyn I just spent over an hour going through Arecee's Show Me The Money! line by line, both in and out of the editor, trying to find what was causing it to be overly wide -- the problem that makes folks have to scroll their window left and right to read it instead of just scrolling down -- which was pointed out by one of the users.

After determining that it wasn't the story itself, I turned to the table Arecee had written/coded for the headers of the story.

How Can I Be So Freakin' Dumb

Taxonomy upgrade extras:

Author:

Sometimes you just don’t feel like making all that much effort. You know the feeling — when you know you should look good, but all you can manage is a brush or two through your hair and a little lip gloss. It’s the same thing with writing. You get a good idea for a story, sit down, and finger regurgitate onto the screen.

I’m more likely to heavily research a story before I start writing, but once in a while I’ll just wing it. The first two stories I entered in the Halloween contest were light-hearted affairs that took very little time or effort to construct.

I think its time for me to take a breather and pull back a little. I've just finished Weight Problem and as much as I want to start writing my Blue Beetle Retcon right away, I think I need a day or two to recharge my creative battery. I've got a pretty good idea on how I want to write it but right now I think a few days won't kill me.

So in a couple of days look for The Blue Bug From Outer Space.

Linkedln Spam, sorry.

Taxonomy upgrade extras:

I guess it is my fault. I got an email from someone I know, and she asked me if I wanted to link with her on Linkedln, a purportedly professional web network site.

Well, now the thing is making its way through every contact that I have of any kind with anyone and sending them invitations to link with me. I am sorry about this. I got duped and did not realize what the consequences would be.

From now on, everything I get from them is getting marked spam.

Well; at last I've got over the 'writer's block hump' dealing with Beverly's eventual slow reconciliation with her own kind back on earth.
She's had children by Ruby and the next couple of chapters deal with sibling rivalry as the various children manouvre to try and wrest control of 'Taff Spaceships' after Beverly shuffles off her mortal coil. (Although this aint about to happen anytime soon.)

Conundrum about 12-String

Taxonomy upgrade extras:

The next chapter of 12-String has given me some trouble. It's not the writing of it, but more what happens in it.

I didn't realize until after she hooked up with Bobby, quite the person that Bobby is.

I know that people under the age of 18 can't usually be diagnosed yet with personality disorders. That being said, Bobby has narcissistic personality disorder. This is a type of sociopathic personality disorder.

Now, not all sociopaths become murderers, and so here I stand at a crossroads. I will not be in any way including this in the story, but Bobby attempts to rape Buffy.

New Story Required Changes to Old

Taxonomy upgrade extras:

Author:

For more than two years I have been contemplating writing more about one of the characters in A California Saga. Well, the muse kicked in a few months ago, and the story is nearly completed. The title is The Redhead and the PM, and it is about Sylvia's older sister, Kate O'Donnell. As this story evolved, I realized that some of the things I wrote in Chapter 13 of Five Love Stories en Brochette would have to be changed. Thank heavens it is an author's prerogative to change the universe about which he writes. The necessary changes have now been made and posted.

I am an author on this site with a lot of stories and I am, I suppose, one of the more popular ones.

It has become apparent for a while now that comments seem to be on the decline, which is a pity as many authors who contribute to the site like to get feedback that the stories that they have written are appreciated or not as the case may be.

Erin and her team are always asking for readers to comment, indeed at the bottom of each and every story there is the following:

Well, today was a better day. Not only did I not have to work, and thus got a few things done that have been hanging over my head, but because my mom was home too, I was able to go to the transgender support group meeting (I had to smuggle out my Dorothy outfit and change there, but still) It felt good to be with the girls (and guys). I think I really really needed that right now.
