How Can I Be So Freakin' Dumb

Sometimes you just don’t feel like making all that much effort. You know the feeling — when you know you should look good, but all you can manage is a brush or two through your hair and a little lip gloss. It’s the same thing with writing. You get a good idea for a story, sit down, and finger regurgitate onto the screen.

I’m more likely to heavily research a story before I start writing, but once in a while I’ll just wing it. The first two stories I entered in the Halloween contest were light-hearted affairs that took very little time or effort to construct.

My Weight Problem

The story weight problem brings up my real life weight problem with has nothing to do with the story. This past April 28, 2010 I had The Roux-En-Y bariatric bypass surgery and weighed 386 pounds and now 5 months later I have lost 103 pounds and weigh 283 pounds, but I still have 100 pounds to go and I feel Great Love to all my BC friends RICHIE2

Massive Breather

I think its time for me to take a breather and pull back a little. I've just finished Weight Problem and as much as I want to start writing my Blue Beetle Retcon right away, I think I need a day or two to recharge my creative battery. I've got a pretty good idea on how I want to write it but right now I think a few days won't kill me.

So in a couple of days look for The Blue Bug From Outer Space.

Linkedln Spam, sorry.

I guess it is my fault. I got an email from someone I know, and she asked me if I wanted to link with her on Linkedln, a purportedly professional web network site.

Well, now the thing is making its way through every contact that I have of any kind with anyone and sending them invitations to link with me. I am sorry about this. I got duped and did not realize what the consequences would be.

From now on, everything I get from them is getting marked spam.

Spacetran 12

Well; at last I've got over the 'writer's block hump' dealing with Beverly's eventual slow reconciliation with her own kind back on earth.
She's had children by Ruby and the next couple of chapters deal with sibling rivalry as the various children manouvre to try and wrest control of 'Taff Spaceships' after Beverly shuffles off her mortal coil. (Although this aint about to happen anytime soon.)

Conundrum about 12-String

The next chapter of 12-String has given me some trouble. It's not the writing of it, but more what happens in it.

I didn't realize until after she hooked up with Bobby, quite the person that Bobby is.

I know that people under the age of 18 can't usually be diagnosed yet with personality disorders. That being said, Bobby has narcissistic personality disorder. This is a type of sociopathic personality disorder.

Now, not all sociopaths become murderers, and so here I stand at a crossroads. I will not be in any way including this in the story, but Bobby attempts to rape Buffy.

New Story Required Changes to Old

For more than two years I have been contemplating writing more about one of the characters in A California Saga. Well, the muse kicked in a few months ago, and the story is nearly completed. The title is The Redhead and the PM, and it is about Sylvia's older sister, Kate O'Donnell. As this story evolved, I realized that some of the things I wrote in Chapter 13 of Five Love Stories en Brochette would have to be changed. Thank heavens it is an author's prerogative to change the universe about which he writes. The necessary changes have now been made and posted.

Apathy Rules?

I am an author on this site with a lot of stories and I am, I suppose, one of the more popular ones.

It has become apparent for a while now that comments seem to be on the decline, which is a pity as many authors who contribute to the site like to get feedback that the stories that they have written are appreciated or not as the case may be.

Erin and her team are always asking for readers to comment, indeed at the bottom of each and every story there is the following:

If you liked this post, you can leave a comment and/or a kudo!

Well, today was a better day. Not only did I not have to work, and thus got a few things done that have been hanging over my head, but because my mom was home too, I was able to go to the transgender support group meeting (I had to smuggle out my Dorothy outfit and change there, but still) It felt good to be with the girls (and guys). I think I really really needed that right now.

I was chatting with my older daughter (who also has a quirky sense of humor)... And, the following came up in the conversation:

Your ovaries took a wrong left turn back in the second trimester. They're on their way back, but they got lost in this odd little testosterone-filled sack...

Then, she went on and explained how it happened:

Suddenly yesterday, I lost all the hearing in my left ear. There is a tiny bit left but it sounds like speaker does when the cone is torn. I did not hit my head or anything. I have been wearing a hearing aid in that ear for quite some time. There is a problem in my right ear, but I can not tolerate a hearing aid there. To top it off, there is another kind I can use in the right ear but I will not be able to use my Hijab, and that is a big deal to me.

Well i have an excuse for the next chapter being a bit later than week since the last one, i was going to be typing it monday - but my cat decided to start dying so it had to be taken to the vets - its a male cat, big, eats dry food so it got peeing problems (Cant spell the proper term for it). I had knew something was wrong when it was puking up the dryfood.

So its still in the vets, gonna cost a bit -  £500 or $350 i think for the americans who come to this site, something like that.

I found out today that I have low testosterone. Yeah, so my thought was to have them switch it to estrogen, but the Doc said that my condition could lead to many possible and nasty complications, so they want to do injections to bring me back to "normal". Hah! Too late!
Anyway, I've heard several bad things about these injections, I'm just wondering, are they really needed? Is there a real risk if I do nothing? Can I see about switching? Who do I talk to about this?

The final two posts of this story might be a little different than the others. They may or may not be more than one chapter long. It all depends on how much I want to fit into one chapter. Right now I'm writing Ch. 14, which will switch POVs back and forth between siblings. Then in my last post I'll have the last chapter and an epilogue, at least that's the plan at the moment.

I'll be taking a little Center break after that and moving on to two Retcons, the first one being Blue Beetle and the second Booster Gold.

The funeral for Nanay was last Saturday afternoon. Three priests said the mass for her. If two other priest friends of ours weren't away, there would have been five there.

In addition there was a large crowd for the mass. Leonette's friends came from as far as Kendall(80 miles away) and the local Filipino community also showed up. Omar, Jenni's former Muslim boyfriend, came. He said he had never been to a funeral before. I thank all these people for making what was a difficult week so much easier.

Well, I kinda feel like that. I had a good day as Dorothy Friday, but I found I really crashed after I had to go back to male mode. Progress!

I finally made the last payment on my credit card today! Shortly after going full time I had something like $16,000 of credit card debt, but as of today it is $0! ^_^ I've been working hard towards this for a long time, so I'm very happy! Especially since it means all the money I was putting on my credit card can now go towards paying off my car loan. And once that's paid off (which won't take too long, now), I can finally start saving up for surgery!

That's still a while off yet, probably a couple years or so, but it's a step in the right direction.

Are readers afraid of my story because I label it as horror? It really is mild horror, and it's only really at the beginning of the story. I should add the "Sweet/Sentimental" story tag because it's made a few readers cry.

Recommend any good games?

It's been ages since I played any game on my PC apart from the standard Solitaire and Minesweeper, as I find the violence that seems to accompany most as pretty mindless.

I recently came across Iron Roses, an adventure story which I really enjoyed, played in the 3rd person, featuring guitar playing Alex trying to reform her group. Set in a US city in the middle of a garbage strike, there was lots of realism far removed from the fantasy worlds of many games. She even had a gay friend! To experienced gamers, the tasks were probably pretty trivial, but they were just right for me.

I finished my novel on day 1 last year, so just had to wait for verification to open up. 50,000 words -- depending on how it's formatted, is anywhere from about 115 pages to 200 pages if you stretch it... but it really is much less than what it sounds like, folks! Don't be daunted by the wordcount. One screen of typed text is about 500 words. So, approximately 100 screens. That's really not a lot!

"He" was still never the real me, of course, make no mistake there. However, there was a reason for "him" to exist. There were things "he" did that affected other people, like songs "he" wrote and stories "he" wrote and things "he" did. "He" had a very real and very valuable purpose in this world.

And thank God that's over with. lol

So, it was suggested to me that I do some kind of ritual for letting go of the old (male) me and embracing the new (female) me because I said I'd not done that, I'd just kind of moved on. I thought about it and decided it might be a good thing to do. So, on Monday I came up with something and went out and did it.

Bowel Prep-Funny!

Anybody who has had SRS probably had some form of bowel prep, back in the day it was "Go Lightly" a deception on the part of the marketing department! Tasted like whale snot too.

Here is a piece on bowel prep by Scottish comic Billy Connolly

Funeral Day

Today we say goodbye to Hazel, my aunt and godmother. It's going to be tough on me, so I don't know what sort of state I shall be in later and therefore can't comment on whether or not I'll be able to do the next episode of Bike.

Apologies for last night, but I went to pay my personal respects and it took quite a lot out of me. Today, I am next of kin and presumably leading the mourning. I'm presenting a celebration of Hazel's life which I hope won't be too depressing, after all she had a wicked sense of humour and very dirty laugh. I shall try and remember both in the days ahead.

I'm back

It's been a rough few months. My wife of 36 years passed in mid-June after a 9 years of being bed-ridden during which I was her primary caregiver. She had MS with complications and we both knew the outcome. Still, it took a lot out of me. We'd been dating since high school, 41 years ago, and I've never done anything as an adult without taking her into consideration, especially during her illness. While I miss her, she's in a better place waiting for me. She told me she'd be waiting for me but that I should take my time.

Tonight might be “Bike-less”

I have just had a ’phone call from Angharad to ask me to warn all you Bikefans that EAFOAB Part 1128 might not appear on BC tonight. Her ex-partner and their daughter are arriving by train during the evening for her Aunt's funeral tomorrow, so she will probably be unable to find time to write it.

She said not to rule it out completely, but that it was highly unlikely that she will find time tonight.

Whacked, whacked, and whacked again- Updated

1- There's a Tropical Depression south of Cuba that likely will become Tropical Storm Nicole. All the computer models predict the storm to come through South Florida. Which is where I live.

It will be either a strong TD or weak TS. Still 40 MPH winds can cause power outages and other inconveniences.

2- Our family car was hit yesterday by a woman backing out of a parking space as my wife was going to visit her mother. The car is running but has over $1,000 worth of body damage. Most of which consists of the front passenger door being banged in and not able to open now.
