Off the Front Part 2

Marley and her friends had staked out a regular spot in the student center and met there like clockwork every Thursday between classes. It was a secluded corner on the third floor with comfy couches near a piano that would often be played by students. "So can I talk you guys into coming to ride with me tonight," Marley asked, speaking slightly loud over the music student playing piano.

Leigh Anne - Chapter 18
By Barbara Lynn Terry

The next morning, after everybody was dressed and had their breakfast, Leigh packed her tennis outfits in an overnight case, and declared herself ready to go. Her dad went out to put the things in the trunk, and Leigh and her mother went out to the car. After sitting down and buckling up, Mr. Smythe started the car and they were off of to Midland.

The Reluctant Quarterback

Melanie Ezell's big closet ultimate writer's challenge Team player and Mystery Science Closet

Any similarity between characters in this story and people, either living or dead, is purely coincidental. Honest. Also apologies to anyone who actually understands what American Football is really about. I have to confess it's all a bit strange and I may have got things wrong here and there.

Thanks to those of you who commented on my terminology and content. I've made the easy changes (word swapping), the rest will take a bit longer.

Mel — now Melanie — Baron is transitioning, in fact her family just moved to to a small town so she could do so in peace. Only her father is the coach for the football team, and none of the try outs can throw a ball as far or as accurately as Mel. If they're going to have any chance at all in the State League, Mel is going to have to step up.

Field hockey, it's not just for girls anymore.

Apparently there is a boy playing on a girls field hockey and "dominating" it. While they haven't listed all his stats, he hardly seemed to be dominating.

Sex and the Little League

A tale about Little Leaguers, eleven-year-olds, having sex? Nope. This story is about the sex (or gender) of the players who played youth baseball before girls were officially admitted to the program in 1974. It’s about one particular girl, Kelly Rodman, who may have been the first of her sex ever to play in the Little League World Series. Those who know my stories will appreciate that there must be a twist — a curve ball — to this tale. After all, it does come from Texas, the land of Pecos Pete and other tall tales.

I Have A Question

I Have A Question

By Stanman63
I Have A Question!

Synopsis:I have heard about how in the past where there was some question about certain women athletes from Russia that were either injected with steroids to give them an edge or were men forced to become women to compete. Is there any truth to that? And what about inter-sexed athletes?

A nice tribute

I saw the current issue of ESPN-The Magazine at the bookstore today, and the last page, which always has a column by Bill Rielly (formerly at Sports Illustrated) contained a very nice eulogy for the transgendered sportswriter who killed herself (himself?) a few months back. It seems Rielly and his wife had taken her under their wings after she started transitioning, having been friends with him before. I'll try and go back and pick up a copy tomorrow if I can, but it is the one one the newsstand right now, they have two issues a month. It was very touching, and had me wiping my eyes.

This is currently being run on AOL and elsewhere. We went through this controversy decades ago and it was resolved. Poor Sarah Gronert, she wants to play tennis and is reasonably good and a few bigots want to steal that from her. I have not seen any mention of what her chromosomal makeup is. I'll research later.
