Just in the last 30 minutes two big brush fires have blown up near us. The temp is 81F, the humidity is a paltry 19%, and the wind is out of the south at 28mph gusting to 32mph. No sooner does a fire start then it blows up big time. One fire is just a couple of miles east and a mile or so north of us, the smoke is choking. Karen is on 100% O2 and I'm going to load her up and head to the local IHOP where we can wait it out. Not worried about the house, it's not in danger, breathing is the problem.
Isn't there a limit on the number of stories a author can have on the front page at any given time? Right now a single writer is occupying roughly 75% of the front page. Can we get a refresher post on the rules, then a cleanup of the front page?
Is it possible to clear/delete the contents of the Ignore List in one action; or must I delete each listing separately. Trying to clean things up and noticed many of those blocked aren't active anymore.
Well, I promised to relate my experience with the Moderna vaccine, so here goes. This is better than 2 1/2 days since I was vaccinated.
Day One Vaccinated at 6:30 AM CDT. The nurse was excellent, I didn't feel a thing. This was at the local Wal-Mart so after the waiting time (15 minutes) was up I decided to do a little shopping. Got home about 10 AM. All during this time I only had a small amount of pain in my upper arm, left arm BTW.
Hello, I'm Karen's brother. Karen was admitted to the hospital last night after an apparent drug overdose. She is out of danger, but will remain in the hospital for at least a couple of weeks, so she won't be around for awhile. She could use your thoughts and prayers.
I saw the current issue of ESPN-The Magazine at the bookstore today, and the last page, which always has a column by Bill Rielly (formerly at Sports Illustrated) contained a very nice eulogy for the transgendered sportswriter who killed herself (himself?) a few months back. It seems Rielly and his wife had taken her under their wings after she started transitioning, having been friends with him before. I'll try and go back and pick up a copy tomorrow if I can, but it is the one one the newsstand right now, they have two issues a month. It was very touching, and had me wiping my eyes.
I suddenly recalled a story that started sometime in the past few months, about a guy who is asked by his sister to allow himself to be magically turned into a girl so s(he) can bear the family heir. Kind of like a JulieO story but I don't think it was. I do remember some strong discussions about the brother being manipulated by his family and his sister's family, but I just can't recall the name or author. Does anybody remember it?
