Character Descriptions? How About Pictures?

Taxonomy upgrade extras:

So. Switcheroo and related characters.

I know some people have been less than happy with how little description I've actually given most of them in the story. First of all, I apologize for that.

However, to help with things, I have a little bonus for you!

Here are a handful of pictures of the Switcheroo cast I've drawn over the last few days. I'll add more posts like this as I get more characters done.

Keep in mind I'm not what you'd call the greatest artist, so bear with me on these:

Don't you ever get tired of angst, whining, and self-pity?

There has to be something positive in your life.

You are in charge of your attitude. That's a fact. It isn't just a bumper-sticker.

Life is about change. Good stories are about change. Life is about redemption. Good stories are about redemption.

When your stories lead to oblivion you've violated the contract you have with your reader. Readers are looking for that Hollywood ending where good prevails and bad is punished. It happens. Really -- it happens.

Egyptian military performs 'virginity tests'

According to a report by an international activist group, the Egyptian military is accused of performing "virginity tests" on detained female protesters. The 2011 Egyptian revolution, which forced former president Hosni Mubarak out of power, has resulted in the military controlling the country until elections later this year. Like most military minds, excess is excused as military necessity. The more conservative the basis of the culture, the worse the excesses.

Just wanted to give a brief explanation for my last story, "Unintended Consequences". After I had read "A new game plan", I left my comment, expressing my opinion, and figured that would be the end of that. Unfortunately, my muse had other ideas. I went out with my daughter, and while watching her play in our neighborhood park the basic idea of this story dropped in. By the time I got back in, I was on fire, and the story took less than twenty minuses to write.

Well, for those that don't generally follow sports, especially as practiced in the old world, there is great news! Manchester United fell to FC Barcelona in the UEFA Championship by a resounding 3-1. Barcelona owned the game, played in Wembley Stadium, from start to finish despite the antics of United's Wayne Rooney. Somebody ought to inform him he shouldn't start the celebrations until AFTER the game is over!

But as entertaining as his antics might have been to some, his goal was the only time MU scored as FC Barcelona outscored, outclassed, and out-played United.

I have been honored to have the privilege of helping fellow authors by editing their stories. What I generally do is to correct grammar as I try to keep the author's original idea. Little Silky, the model for Randi Lewis Deere's familiar, managed to get latex house paint on her paws. I think she may have cleaned her brother off, too. He brushed against a freshly painted door. She's a bit unhappy with the painters tresspassing as it is, and knows of 20 more hiding places than we do. She's vomited several times, and is drinking a lot of water on her own.

Henry Harrelson's Custom Fit Boots

If one good thing has come from my Year O' Challenges, so far it seems to be Henry Harrelson's Custom Fit Boots.

I've been following the comments on all the stories, and I've seen that a number of people seem quite interested in seeing more stories in this particular universe.

RIP Jeffrey Catherine Jones

Yesterday Jeffrey Catherine Jones died. She was an artist who transitioned in 1990. Frank Frazetta once called her the worlds greatest living painter.

Perhaps like me the name didn't ring any bells, but once I searched out some of her work I recognized them immediately. So many of the paperback covers of fantasy tales I read back in the 70's had her name on them. Also she was one of the artists that made National Lampoon such a hit in its hey day. A truly remarkable person.

Rest easy.

Well, I finished my second day of orientation at Wal-mart. So far, so good. Nobody has even looked at me funny for having a male name tag while wearing female clothes, makeup, and a wig. I live in the best country in the world ....

Heads Where The Sun Doesn't Shine

The idiocy of this is beyond my comprehension.

I wonder what F--- up in the development of society led to this mind set?

Drunken tears do not make it better.

A comment on an old story. My, that's a circuit breaker in a good way. An antidote of sorts for the reality shits. You don't know. Some of you might but most don't I expect. What? Are you on something? Ummm, yeah maybe. You probably don't want any though. Well the comment maybe, assuming there's something to comment on. This is the expurgated version... good thing too I think. What??

Bike Archive

I never fail to be amazed how someone could want to archive anything I wrote unless they were doing some sort of study on compulsions or classic lunacy. That someone could keep it up to date--it does involve a lot of effort--then create a map site and keep that up to date as well--I'm absolutely staggered. I'm also grateful although my thanks seem somewhat inadequate in comparison.

Thanks to PS and Ben for doing this, I know many readers find it an easier way to read such a long saga, so on their behalf, I thank you also.

In another number system, it's the ultimate answer. In a third, it's just over a third of a century.

What's the significance? Well, this might provide a clue...

Needless to say, if my comments later on this evening make even less sense than usual, you'll know I've consumed an extra glass of vino... :)

Oh, Katia what shall I do with you?

Gwendolyn's Muse, "Khadijah" is really confused with me right now, wondering just what I am up too. Those who have been following "Lt Katia in Afganistan" may have perhaps felt that she would end up a Nigab'd once warrior living in seclusion in the home of her love intrest. And to be frank, I had been thinking that she might too.

Story Critics

I often see comments about stories written on this site that are little more than a put down in some cases.
The vast majority of the Stories on BC are works of fiction and I often wonder if the person who makes some of these comments knows what the "FICTION" means.
The dictionary definition is;

fic ·tion”‚ [fik-shuhn]
—noun
1. the class of literature comprising works of imaginative narration, especially in prose form.
2. works of this class, as novels or short stories: detective fiction.
