Edeyn You get to the point where you evolve in your life where everything isn't black and white, good and bad, and you try to do the right thing. You might not like that. You might be very cynical about that. Well, fuck it, I don't care what you think. I'm trying to do the right thing. I'm tired of Republican-Democrat politics. They can take the job and shove it. I come from a blue-collar background. I'm trying to do the right thing, and that's where I'm going with this.
-- Roy J McDonald, Republican State Senator for New York State
The above quote is what he said when he was confronted about why he chose to vote in FAVOUR of the New York State Same-Sex Marriage Bill currently before the State Senate by other Republicans and Conservatives.

Thank you for the links. That was very refreshing to read about someone who put right and wrong ahead of politics.

HEY!!!!!

Stop that! You're toying with my cynicism.

The other night I watched the New Hampshire debates and came away thinking Michelle Bachmann appeared to be a front-runner. Ron Paul, who I supported last election, was the most logical, which eliminates him from discussion. Michelle's middle name is Homophobe, but standing next to "open-minded" Rick Santorum (I have no problem with homosexuality. I have a problem with homosexual acts.) she looked almost sane.

Politicians -- of either party -- are the bunk!

Ron Paul is always pretty

Ron Paul is always pretty logical, even if some of his thoughts rub people the wrong way or they think he's nuts.

As for the state senator from NY, I have to say he made a good stand. Despite what one commenter said, just because he represents a constituency doesn't mean his own beliefs don't make a difference. After all, that same commenter would no doubt want the guy's beliefs to matter in most cases. So the fact that his conscience is pushing him to believe in equality is a good thing.

Hurrah! A HERO!

I hope he has a chance, it sounds like the kind of guy we all need. If I lived in NY, I'd vote for him. Do you think intelligence might be contagious in politicians?
