Bastille Day

Bastille Day, 14th July, is the anniversary of the French mob storming the hated fortress/prison in the centre of Paris in 1789, and is commonly regarded as one of the beginnings of the French Revolution.

A few years later, 1986 to be precise, I rather sedately broke out of my own prison, coincidently on the same day. It came about by my going to see my general manager, who had got wind of my intentions via the grapevine--someone who'd been told in confidence, blabbed.

Coming Soon!

The next chapter of "The Assignment" is coming within the next day or so. The last few days have been filled with family stuff and doctor visits. I just started seeing a new Endocrinologist on Friday. She ordered bloodwork on me this morning and then I have another appt. in August with another new doctor. I finally have all female doctors at last! I will be able to ditch that insensitive S.O.B male GP I have had for years. Anyway, watch for my feelings on the subject in the next chapter. Alyce is no longer going to be quiet about things that have happened to her.

Re Changes~21

Due to the fact that I have just published the latest Football Girl and I don't want to infest the site with too many Susan Brown stories at once, the next chapter of Changes is not going to be up tomorrow. (Do I hear cheers?)

I apologise for any inconvenience caused and can assure you that normal services will resume as soon as possible.

Thank you for your patience.

EAFOAB Anniversary Imminent

Yesterday, I clicked on one of the Jewel Box links on the TopShelf home page. It was Jewel Box Two: a page listing "stories that appeared on Big Closet approximately two years ago today."

Scrolling down towards the bottom, what do we see?

Next to one another are the first two episodes of EAFOAB, with part 1 dated July 17, 2007. Funnily enough, the events of the past week have seen the destruction of one Cathy's very expensive carbon-fibre bikes, as happened in the original episode.

I'm so far beyond lost.

I don't even know how to say this. I've always known that my man doesn't like women in any way, in fact, he hates anything even remotely tinged with femaleness. I, on the other hand, have never wanted to be anything else. I thought for many years that I could just accept his misogynistic world and deal with it, just cope with being who biology fated me to be.

Only two more reads

Wow, I'm jacked. It only took three years for Mialing to reach three thousand reads. This is my favorite story which was written years ago and as I read it again, I realize there are some very glaring mistakes in it. I'm going to try to fix them and make the story better, but don't let that keep you from reading a nice love story with some really messed up people. Thank you for taking the time to read it, Arecee

One more small step.

I recently received my new Veteran's I.D. card, with my real pic on it. That makes two picture ID's. Driver's License and Vet's ID... both with me as Cathy. When I get back from The SCC conference, I will submit the paperwork to legally change my name.

Baby steps, my friends, but important ones.

Hugs 'n love,

Non-Confrontational

A few days ago Sue Brown listed seven basic plots and asked if there were more. A lenghthy discussion ensued during which I mentioned non-confrontational plots. I ascerbically stated I didn't think anyone would want to read a TG story based on a non-confrontational plot.

After additional thought I decided to write U Go To Hell which I posted yesterday. It features a non-confrontational plot. It is a slice of life leading to a revelation.

You can judge for yourself if anyone would want to read that kind of story.

A potential new member of the family

A couple of weeks ago, Grover told you about our Delta and having to say goodbye to her. Well, there is hopefully going to be a new addition to our family. I have been going through depressive bouts, and Grover has been kind enough to encourage both of us to adopt a new pet.

Please keep your fingers, toes, eyes, and whatever else crossed so we may have good luck in adopting a new family member. We should have more info before the end of next week.

Thank you for your kind words, thoughts, and prayers as Grover and I mourn the passing of a wonderful doggy friend.

Double Voting

Has anyone else noticed their vote counting double? It seems like every time I vote the count increments by two. Also, I've seen the same in reverse. My short story I just posted went from 3 hits and 0 votes to 4 hits and 2 votes. Maybe one person hadn't finished reading yet and the other opened it up after and they both voted, but I've seen it many times in situations where that is extremely unlikely, if not impossible.

No Men!

The Daily Mail in London is reporting that scientist's at Newcastle university have developed an artificial sperm, Raising the very real possibility in the future of a world without the need for men!... Having said that they do say that at present sperm can only be created from male embryo's so ruling out for the moment women becoming the supreme biological being...But you know what they say, Where there's a will there's a way!!

Is there really any interest?

In the story I started, "Joby," other than as a curiosity? I'm not complaining, as there was a good amount of hits/votes/comments as compared to other unknowns. I'm just wondering if it wasn't just because it was there, since most of that response was in the first 12 to 14 hours after it was posted.

If your main purpose in making a comment is to belittle, insult or otherwise attack someone else's opinion, remember that I generally unpublish such comments. There's no political agenda involved in doing this, generally it happens on threads with no political content at all. And when there is politics involved, the side of the political fence that throws the first brickbat is the side that gets its post unpubbed.

Tear Jerker

Not the usual sort but I've just watched "The World's Fastest Indian" on the BBC iPlayer. It stars Anthony Hopkins as New Zealander Bert Munro who's ambition is to run his old Indian motorcycle at Bonneville speed week. It's an emotional roller coaster that brought tears to my eyes a few times and I strongly recommend it - even to those of you who think a story about an old man and his old motor bike somewhat uninteresting.

Hi folks,

as Piper is rebuilding her main server, she will have to take some sites offline. Those include tgfiction.net, gabyzone.com, maddybell.com, storysite.org, reluctantpress.com, cyberbrats.org/net/info/us/ws.

For www.maddybell.com we can you provide with a mirror site at maddy.tor-der-traeume.de.

So please be patient, as things will be back in order soon.

The thing that DID it.

I have frequently heard trans folk say that they felt that stress had a roll in their final decision to actually "come out", do it, get cut, and all that. I can distinctly remember the very day and minute that I finally threw the towel in, though my "comming out" and final decision did not come for a while.

Would any of you care to share that moment with us?

Thank You All !

Thank you for all of the supportive comments and Private messages. I went back to my original header on Chapter One and started to rethink things from Chapter 3. I have totally redone this chapter and focused on the underlying resentment that Alyce harbors for her parents not telling her the truth. I have taken this plot in a new direction. I started to think about the motives of the parents . There was a specific reason why they withheld the knowledge from her for so long and it was a very selfish one. Read it and you will find out.

Prize Words

She walked into my office on legs as long as one of those long-legged birds that you see in Florida - the pink ones, not the white ones - except that she was standing on both of them, not just one of them, like those birds, the pink ones, and she wasn't wearing pink, but I knew right away that she was trouble, which those birds usually aren't.

I'm so angry right now. I just had a confrontation with the folks who run the convenience store down the street.I've provided them with computer and network support for the past 3 years and have never charged them a dime. In return, I've been allowed to run an account with them which I pay off monthly.

When Carl Met Lauren

Does anyone remember a story called, I think, "When Carl Met Lauren?" I can't remember if it was here or on FM. The plot is essentially a woman discovers a man at college, who she finds out works at a drag bar playing Pink (the singer.) By the end, he's basically her wife and they have two kids. He had Couvade syndrome (makes him think he's, and shows the signs of, pregnancy.) Thanks for any assistance.

I think I've got the Weblinks working again. Apparently when one of the updates of the software was done, the name of the links type was changed from links to weblinks. The ... well, the rest of the explanation would be too embarrassing, er, technical.

Anyway, it works now but the link farm is in sad shape, dead links and lots of links that ought to be there but aren't. If you investigate a link and discover that it is dead, leave a comment either here or on the link and I'll try to fix or delete it.

Just Rambling

I was just thinking about this site. It's the best because of one thing. We have the best authors with regards to TG content. Other sites seem to like the smut value of a story, where as this one encourages well written stories. There is one thing that bothers me though, some of the best don't get good reads. Nancy Cole is one. She has written stories that we should be privileged to read for free and yet, she doesn't get the reads she deserves. I know I'm being selfish and want more of her stories, but well that's just me.

Apologies for my many mistakes

I posted two title pages earlier today...er, I guess it's yesterday now! ;) Anyway, I screwed up, like a dozen different ways! I should have waited until I had more time, because I had to leave and wasn't able to finish what I started until now. So I had two title pages that just had a title and absolutely nothing else! Also, I posted them through the +Fiction link instead of the +TitlePage link, which caused them to appear on the front page when they aren't supposed to. I think I made the same mistake with Pass On What You Have Learned.

Old writing question

I recently discovered that I still have the assignments that I did for a creative writing class several years ago. I was looking through them and was surprised that I actually liked several of them! I expected them to seem juvenile to me, as I often do with my own work. None of them are TG, but I was wondering if there would be any interest if I posted some of them here?

Please let me know!

I have A question for Authors Out There

I find that there are stories that triger a story in me, at times, several. My Kelly's Journey was inspired by yyour basis tg love story, just as Terri's Vengeance is. But King Of the Rim is a combination of Star Wars and Star Trek. But my stories truly write themselves. I get the kernal of an idea from reading a story and taking the basic story idea and changing it to fit my idea. But I find that the story goes its own way after I start on it. Is it the same with you?

A Hard Thing

Today my wife and I had to do a hard thing. Our beloved half-Rottie Lab went to sleep for the last time. It broke our hearts but Delta had cancer. She had already survived one operation, but there was nothing anyone could do when it once more came back. Delta was 11 years old and had been with my wife for ten years after the dog had been rescued from a bad home. She was a big dog at near 90 pounds but was really a sweet coward. Almost everything would send her into hiding, although her bark would scare anyone. It was so deep it would rattle the windows.

Good night, sweet Angel

It seems a day for sad news. Farrah Fawcett has died of cancer at the age of 62. How I loved her in my teen years; of course I didn't want to be with her, I wanted to be her -- but I'm sure there are others here who can sympathize with that. I think Charlie might say something like this; "Spread your wings and fly, Angel, fly! You soar in the heavens now, forever young and beautiful."

I'm staying with my daughter for the next couple of nights, so real life might well get in the way of my art(if you believe that you'll believe anything!). Viz, I might just be too busy to have time to write.

The connection time to the internet has been awful tonight, taking twenty minutes to open BC to post. I haven't yet managed to get to my emails, lost the will to live before they opened. Must be the location, it isn't like this at home.

I'll post again when I can, possibly sunday or monday.

Being in a car crash sucks

Even if no one is hurt, even if the other car looks like it lost a fight with a brick wall while the only damage to yours is a piece of styrofoam from the other car's front bumper wedged into the rim of your rear wheel.

Especially if you're transitioning (as I am), already 24/7 but some of your documentation shows your new name, some shows your old one, and none shows the correct sex. Hey, I only changed my name legally a week ago.

trying to locate a story

I have been trying to locate a serial story. The only things that I remember are, it is set in England, a young boy lives with his mother in a coach house on or next to a large estate. A girl his age moves in to the estate with her affluent father and encurages the boy to dress as a girl. Any help locating this would be greatly appreciated.

Universal Brain Neuron Network

I know that this is way off topic, but I beg you to indulge me for a few moments. For those who really know me, one of my obsessions is to try to figure out the real nature of what I believe to be the intelligence who created all this. I must shamefully admit that at times everything seems incredibly chaotic and mostly evil. But in my quiet moments I know that perhaps I am just not sophisticated to understand everything.

Some things gotta be fresh.

I was listening to DNR(Derek and Romaine) today and they were talking about this one place they were at during Columbus Pride. They spoke of it having great Ginger Ale, how it was made with fresh Ginger.
I had to call in and comment on how I can definitely feel that. I tried using powdered Ginger in this one recipe TWICE, the second time with more in it and I found it didn't cut it. I mean it just didn't have that snap you'd get with fresh Ginger. Maybe some of you will empathize, having used it before.
