Engineering, Strength of Materials, Nuclear Science

So, in working on a story, I've seen the need to educate myself somewhat in Engineering. I am thinking of a super metal that I will call Xsteel and is roughly ten times stronger than high carbon steel, and about 1/10th the weight. There will also be repulsors that use electricity to produce thrust and using about 40Kw will generate around 60 hp in draw bar thrust.

I've flown several light planes that had around 100 Hp +or- but I have no idea what thrust they produce, and it is probably not linear when compared to speed.

Writing Gifts and Problems.

Today Puddingtang helped me spot a spelling error I missed. It was one of those silly things where the auto-correct and spellchecker took one of my scrambled words and replaced with one that was spelled right, but it still wasn't the right one.

It was suggested I turn off that function. However, I'm dyslexic and without it, ... well, it's not pretty!

I received this reply. "Dyslexics tend to be both clever and creative."

Aiming for the top

The great experiment is about to begin. Can a transgender fiction book break into the top 100 on Amazon? This book has a shot. It has been ranked as high as 58th in thrillers, surpassing people like Stephen King and W.E.B. Griffin. So, for this week, and this week only, Wrestling Against Myself is priced at .99 cents to send a message to Amazon that yes, transgender fiction can sell and should be featured prominently. Let your voice be heard by spending less than a cup of coffee at McDonalds and when you are done reading the book, leave a review as well.

Same as Elrod

I'm kinda in the same boat as Elrod. As we have asked before and many times it seems we beg for them its the feedback that our readers provide us that keeps us motivated. Without them, good or bad we have no real inclination of whether our stories are having the impact that we are striving for.

If you were to look at mine from the last story about have of the comments are mine in response.

I like the kudo's but they don't provide me or others with how the story is impacting on you the reader.

Some Writing Updates

I try to let people know what's going on with me, especially after I don't produce something in a month. I am hard at work on Phenom, the fourth book in the God Bless the Child saga. I finally got to the main issue and it should be smooth sailing from here on out (probably not). I am over 50k words and I already see areas that I need to do major reworks over, but I'm hoping for that random bit of inspiration to hit me.

More than most want to know about TS

Not every TS is going to stand up and tell the world they want to be a boy or a girl. I've studied the boy-girl gender blender for more years than I'm going to admit. If there is one thing that is absolutely true about all of them. They are each an individual unique to their own self.

Knowing is half the battle

So, just wanted to let you all know that the climactic chapter of 300 Rains is an edit away from being posted. Some of the things in it surprised me and some seemed kind of obvious at that point but it is done. This means that I have 1 maybe 2 chapters left until the story is complete. Finally!

Next Goal Wins - Jaiyah Saelua

Today, Sat 3rd May 2014 - the Telegraph Sports section has an article by Simon Briggs about their transgender 'fa'afafine' centre-half Jaiyah Saelua and her skills and effort in the team. The film was supposed to be about the nearly farcical American Samoa football (soccer) team.

Quote "How useful this film could be in breaking down the blinkered culture of professional football. Even by the standards of its peers, the sport suffers from alarmingly primitive values. ..... It is hard to imagine a better role model for this stiflingly masculine game"

Have you not been told?

Ok, so well I was talking with a half dozen trans-women today, at various stages in transition and one of then just had not come to the realization that the moment you put that skirt on you lose some of your privilege. Later when you get whacked and finally have the shovel handle insertion procedure administered, you lose all your privilege.

Yes, sure the more passable you are the better it is if you simultaneously load the feminine wiles and deportment routine. I have had the worst problem in tuning my approach to become sweet and endearing without actually flirting.

Free Manga Drawing book on kindle

I know we have some artists and aspiring artists here, so I wanted to afford you the opportunity to get this free book on drawing manga style stuff. I figured a few of you would really be into it and we can get stories with pictures. It's free today and tomorrow and if you could, leave the poor chap a review. He has given me some pretty good input on my covers and stuff and it's nice to help people outside the community too.

Wanda Cunningham

I was just looking around on the site tonight and found, "The Fairy King", by Wanda Cunningham. Hoping to find more work by her I went to her page and it seems like the last work from her was around 2009. Then I went to the Memorial Page and she is not there. Sigh.

I do wish that she would publish more of her work here. The Fairy King was so good. Wanda, if you are out there ...

Post-OP boredom

Hello everyone out there, this isn't less blog but more a question. I'm a very active woman and I'm missing doing any kind of sports. I'm in the fifth week since my OP now and I feel getting that itch more and more. I need to do some workout. I can't do the usual stuff I do, since those are sports which would not be advisable to do so soon after that surgery, like cycling, sports climbing, inline skating or diving.
But I also need to do some less strenous sports to get back into shape again and getting my fitness back. I can't just lounge around.

Changing fraternities

I just received my fraternity magazine and noticed in the Board meeting minutes that some of the chapters had questions about transpeople. Some apparently wanted to pledge FTM students. At least one chapter had a brother who had decided to become a "sister." They wanted to know the fraternity's stance on this. The answer the Board came up with was that the fraternity constitution stated that a person to be initiated into the fraternity had to be a male at the time of initiation.

623 story ideas

After my group therapy session, I stopped at a local mall and looked around, including a walk through the bookstore, and I came across a book called "623 stories you can write". I took a peek inside, and it had story titles or questions like "you're an astronaut - describe one day in your life", or "describe the worst Thanksgiving day dinner ever".

I forgot to get the name of the authors, but I'm sure someone could find the book if they were interested in writing but have trouble finding good ideas.

I've tried to do it with Wix, but that leaves me wanting. I know what I want, I just don't have the tools or knowledge to do so. Please send links to pages you've developed so I can see your work and prices. Thanks.

Wandering in fantasy land

So, recently someone expressed interest in my stories, in editing them, and giving me advice on how to publish them. Those published will likely be Kindle or something like it, but I do want to publish a "dead tree" book just for my own personal satisfaction. That someone would show interest in my stories is a great surprise to me.

Looking for a story

A few years ago, I read part of a story (I don't think it was on BC but I could be wrong) in which a boy and girl were in a school (I think) library, talking. The girl suddenly ran off, leaving the boy wondering what had happened. He followed the girl who had run into the toilets. He wnet in after her and asked what was wrong, I think she was reluctant, at first, to tell him why she had run off the way she did. eventually, though, she did tell him that she'd had a period (first?) and was embarrassed about it. She also needed clean clothes as what she was wearing was blood stained.

I just spent 2 week in the Hospital . On April 12 I was working outside cutting some branches to get them higher from the fence and the bow saw popped back sending me off balance and off the ladder . I broke my left leg at the ankle about as bad as you can get the EMT's said a limb treating injury . The bones from my leg and ankle were outside the skin (lots of blood) a 45 minute ride to trauma center the test after test and surgery for 3 hours starting at 5 pm . I had a second surgery on April 25 again 3 or 4 hours .

I know pics can be a resource hog so I wanted to if I do place a picture that it not use a lot of bandwidth. None are copyrighted as far as I know. There is no watermark. I think there are royalty free too.

Every person is unique unto themselves. There are general guidelines for different truck drivers, plumbers, doctors. There are also norms for what girls should look like and how she should act in society. The same for boys. Act within society's guidelines unless you are one of those who want to flaunt "it".

I think it's finally happened

I think it's finally happened. So I was sitting in the main hall of the CC building at my college, just sitting and chatting with Cici and Zach, two friends I've made. Though at this point I was still keeping my guard up. I was still a bit cautious of any fall out that could ever happen. Cheyenne and Amber come up and Cheyenne grabs me going "hey come with me" and just starts pulling me away from the Table, Cici following behind as our stuff gets left there for Zach to watch.

Hatbox Gifts Needed

We've done okay with contributions for this month, but we are still a bit short. If you notice, we've spent $700 on equipment this month which is reported in the Server Fund numbers. Actually, we just spent another $500 but that won't be reported till next time.

I just paid the colo bill for this month and my own ISP bill is due. We are going to continue to need more coming in than before because Piper is putting in some long hours and not taking other work while we get all this set up. She put in about 55 hours last week alone with 40+ from me and about 20 from Cat.

Some publishing news

Just to let those who are interested know, Growing Up Jenny is now available in paperback and on the kindle. This is a re-release and highly edited version of the original. It is roughly 15,000 words shorter and is free of many of the grammatical and spelling errors of the original. It is a very powerful story of a young girl who goes through SRS and has to deal with the communities response as she gets adjusted not only to her new family, but also her new self.

My brain confuses me

Well, since I had talked about it briefly yesterday, I want to share a bit about the two dreams I had recently that have me wondering what my unconscious or subconscious or whatever is trying to tell me.

The first one took place in a crowded restaurant, and I ended up having to share a table with a man. Despite my initial shyness, he managed to draw me into a conversation, and when it was time for me to go, I gave him a sisterly kiss on the cheek. The gesture was so feminine, and came to me so naturally, I woke up being jealous of my dream-self's confidence.

EDITING

As many of you already know, I will edit your writing quickly and professionally. If you are publishing on BC/TS the edit is done pro bono (I won't charge you). Work which is ultimately sold for a fee (Kindle, Nook, etc.) should be edited at a fee (negotiable). I have a web site at write-it-better.com which can visit and see what the charges might be. They would be negotiable for authors on the site.

Internet Provider going out of business

OK, well a few of you sort of keep track of me and for that I am thankful. So I have "Clear" as an internet service. The landlord pays for it so it is free to me, for which I have been thankful also.

For the last month it has been even more of a cludge than normal and today it is not working at all. I am on the internet using the hotspot from my cell phone and that will be extremely limited.

I can't get Comcast or anyone else because I do not have a signed lease agreement. Hmmmm Until I work this out, there will be no skype, and very limited access to the internet.

Loonily, Live what you write

So, I am "tooling up" to finish the three stories that will be part of my anthology to be published this fall. Yesterday, I received the suggestion that at least one of my stories are Kindle "book length". Hmmmm. So, now I am full of ideas. Incidentally, so far I am planning to use Amazon, so anyone with helpful hints about using them, be my guest. I am thinking that anything that Amazon publishes must be removed from BCTS, though have not talked with a publicist yet. I plan to do that in June. Most of my stories will either go in the Anthology or be published separately.

The Last Easter Story

Hello everyone! My 'End of the World: The Last Easter' is finally up! I apologize for the troubles last night, but it was one of those perfect storms of site problems and my trying to post at the same time. Now, everything is fine!

As I said, this is the last part of the 'End of the World' series. I was rather satisfied how the endings in both universes pulled together even if other parts 'tasked' me. If you're writer you know what I mean!

So if you really want to write a DarkRealms story, please READ all the stories in the universe before pitching me an idea. Its not that hard. Most if not everything you need to know about the universe is in there. If its not, drop me a PM and ask me.

Transgender equality and your role in achieving it

So the petition to Amazon for them to create a transgender fiction genre ran up to 223 signatures and then it just stalled. So alot has happened this past week. I went into a job interview for an entry position Data Entry job. and I walked in to find my cousin who didn't know I was trans* sitting there waiting for her turn at the same job. And she flipped out. after a long awkward interview I left only to find out that I wasn't getting the job. Not only that but either my Dad or my Sister gave her my number, so now the entire family knows it. Along with me being trans*. And have been harrassing me nonstop as I tried to get the numbers blocked. as far as I could tell the family is broken into 3 factions.

Yay for us. We already hit 100 signatures on the petition and I'm getting read to make the next move (media involvement). I really think this is important. It is about equality, but also about recognition that transgender literature and people are not all about sex. I am keeping the petition open for a week as I figure things out this Easter weekend. I would love for people to look at the intended letter going to Amazon and give some pointers or suggestions to make it better.

Keep signing and thanks.

I didn't know I was different. I thought everyone saw movies or pictures when they touched another person. I digress, this is about Megan who changed my perspective on reality.

Many years back she came into my life kind of like an Oklahoma whirlwind, confusing, bubbly, and talked a mile a minute.
