Hey,

I think there should be more ability to put info on the user account pages:

Basic stuff like interests, types of stories liked, that sort of thing. I would love to be able to better find other members who might share my interests (mother daughter stories).

Possible? I know there is lots to do with this site but making it easier for members to connect with one another seems like a decent idea.

Yea??

A Drewbie Moment

I had a real de-ja-vu moment today while travelling home by train.

A passenger a few seats away was talking on a mobile, in doing so mentimed a friend by the name of Gaby and that got my attention.

The next bit of wierdness was that this Gaby wanted to know where to get some Matchbox toy cars.

By this time I was half expecting the next topic to be about cycling !

I don't want to make this bigger than it is, but would all of our authors here please be careful to mark their stories at the beginning with the warnings and other descriptors if the story contains rape, incest, molestation or abuse of any kind. Having an 'R' in the beginning is helpful, but it isn't a sufficient enough warning regarding these issues.

Since yesterday, my stories have received 117 total hits on them. While I'm pleased by the number of hits, it's very unusual to get that many hits on old works in one day, and I wonder if there isn't someone out there doing this on purpose? Numbers are fine and all, and I thank anyone who has taken the time to read my stories, but false increases are just that...false increases. Since there are no additional comments to accompany these increased numbers, I have to assume that they are false.

Study shows high rate of suicide among TGs

Study: Anti-transgender bullying alarmingly high

by Hannah Clay Wareham

Sunday Oct 17, 2010

More than half of transgender or gender non-conforming people who experienced
bullying or harassment have attempted suicide, according to a recently released
study.

The National Transgender Discrimination Survey, conducted by the National Gay
and Lesbian Task Force and the National Center for Transgender Equality,
revealed that 41 percent of respondents had attempted suicide, compared to a
national estimated rate of 1.6 percent.

Mother Daughter Stories

Forums:

Taxonomy upgrade extras:

Hello,

So I have an incredible soft spot for mother / daughter stories, you know where the maternal figure imposes femininity on her son and transforms him (lovingly or strictly) into a daughter. Even better if the daughter is encouraged to date boys / men. G rated stories can be great, x or better seems to do more for me. First person (told from the vantage point of the 'daughter') are a plus.

Last night, I had a odd dream.

I had gotten a job as a security guard, and someone i knew from my real life job gave me a lift to a bus stop.

The bus turned out to not stop there, but I figured I could walk to somewhere where I could make a connection.

I then found myself cutting through a small shopping center, and my daughter appeared, and I had to cut her looking around short in order to try and catch a bus.

But seriously, I had an idea that I want people's help with.

A while back I started posting challenges under the "Writer's Challenge" section of the site. For a little bit, they were going well, with people trying them and (hopefully) having fun with them. Then, like most everything else I do, I slowed down on posting them, and when people stopped doing them I eventually stopped adding new ones altogether.

Well, I'm thinking of trying it again, but this time a bit different.

If so, should we?

Somehow a vote gives me the feeling of "all in favor say aye" -- something one can provide without any real enthusiasm. A kudo, on the other hand, strikes me as a more independent affirmation, an announcement that there's something more than ordinary about a particular work.

After determining that it wasn't the story itself, I turned to the table Arecee had written/coded for the headers of the story.

Sometimes you just don’t feel like making all that much effort. You know the feeling — when you know you should look good, but all you can manage is a brush or two through your hair and a little lip gloss. It’s the same thing with writing. You get a good idea for a story, sit down, and finger regurgitate onto the screen.

I’m more likely to heavily research a story before I start writing, but once in a while I’ll just wing it. The first two stories I entered in the Halloween contest were light-hearted affairs that took very little time or effort to construct.

Now, not all sociopaths become murderers, and so here I stand at a crossroads. I will not be in any way including this in the story, but Bobby attempts to rape Buffy.

As this story evolved, I realized that some of the things I wrote in Chapter 13 of Five Love Stories en Brochette would have to be changed. looking for a story

Hi,
last week I remembered a story I read some time ago and wanted to reread it, only to find I couldn't remember the title.
The only things remaining are some details and an idea of what the name of the main characters may be.
I tried searching for it, but without sufficient info to feed the search engines and without a clue on which site it was on, I can only sift through ever single story on the sites I think it could be.
I hope that someone can make some sense of the bits and pieces I remember and can give me a title or even a link.

Here is what I know:

Next Chapter of Duelist of time

Well i have an excuse for the next chapter being a bit later than week since the last one, i was going to be typing it monday - but my cat decided to start dying so it had to be taken to the vets - its a male cat, big, eats dry food so it got peeing problems (Cant spell the proper term for it). I had knew something was wrong when it was puking up the dryfood.

So its still in the vets, gonna cost a bit -  £500 or $350 i think for the americans who come to this site, something like that.

"Some students say the problem is the culture of conformity in this city of about 50,000 people: If you're not an athlete or cheerleader, you're not cool. And if you're not cool, you're a prime target for the bullies."

Body and Soul

Are readers afraid of my story because I label it as horror? It really is mild horror, and it's only really at the beginning of the story. I should add the "Sweet/Sentimental" story tag because it's made a few readers cry.

There is no violence or gore in my story. It's just a little scary with a ghost visit at the beginning. I wish more people would give it a chance.

So I went for a walk - or Awkward Conversations With Neighbors

Taxonomy upgrade extras:

I decided to go for a short nature walk to clear my head, and I took my faithful companion, my Canon Rebel XSi with me for kicks. Sadly most of the photos were drastically overexposed because I completely forgot to change exposure compensation before I left.

Most of them were completely unsalvagable. No amount of Photoshop will fix them, but I have a couple that turned out really well, that I'll post at the end of the blog (scaled down to fit :-))

While I was out though, one of our neighbors passed by, and rolled to a stop as I was kneeling to get a picture of a washed out gully.

Recommend any good games?

Taxonomy upgrade extras:

It's been ages since I played any game on my PC apart from the standard Solitaire and Minesweeper, as I find the violence that seems to accompany most as pretty mindless.

I recently came across Iron Roses, an adventure story which I really enjoyed, played in the 3rd person, featuring guitar playing Alex trying to reform her group. Set in a US city in the middle of a garbage strike, there was lots of realism far removed from the fantasy worlds of many games. She even had a gay friend! To experienced gamers, the tasks were probably pretty trivial, but they were just right for me.

Still Sick.

I am SLOWLY getting a bit better, but I am still way below normal functional parameters. Again, I apologise to those with whom I usually chat, but my awake times have been so erratic, and I've lost so much time that errands and tasks I'd planned to do, fell by the wayside and got bunched up. I have tons of stuff I have to do, and nowhere near time enough to do them all.

If there is a bright spot in all this, it's that the weather here is supposed to be nice through the weekend with lots of sunshine, so I can get outside and soak up some of it.

Exodus International to stop Gay bashing

I am surprised that none of you picked up on this as I see it as quite important.

Yesterday I noticed in the news that Exodus International, James Dobson's once highly publicised effor to cure Gays had decided to pull out of anti Gay conventions. The reason being that someone had figured out that this sort of rhetoric was causing suicides. I don't know if there are any law suits pending but I do know the sort of language that the Dobson bunch used.

Aria Blade Revisions - Quick Follow-up

Taxonomy upgrade extras:

Author:

Well, just a super-quick update on the Aria Blade front. I won't lie to you guys, there's a LOT that I still feel needs to be done to improve the story not even counting work on the final chapter of the initial saga, but I'm almost done with the first chapter's revisions.

It doesn't hurt that it really didn't need much work. I've touched up dialogue here and there, and unified narrative, adding and editing as I felt necessary. It's shaping up rather nicely.

Surveys.

After I posted Rescue and read a few of the comments, I began to have second thoughts about it being a stand alone story.

I re-read the story a couple of times and concluded that there might, in the near future, (months not days or weeks cos I'm busy.) I might pick up on a couple of loose ends/threads in the story.

Any body got any preferences or even ideas?

Bev.

I love it when a story takes hold of me and pours itself out through my fingers. I sometimes just sit back in awe at the page and the words. There are phrases that come out that amaze me and make me sure that I am not reading something I had just written. The words seem so elegant, so perfect and so unlike my plodding text that I have no idea what to think. My Muse sometimes makes magic through me I believe...

Story suggestions?

Taxonomy upgrade extras:

I'm looking for some new stories to read, so I thought I'd ask you guys here! I like stories that involve male to female transformations - where an unsuspecting guy is transformed into a girl and has to come to terms with his(her) new body, feelings, etc. A great example of the type of story I'm looking for is Kate Draffen - that's my favorite. Something Feels Strange is another one I thoroughly enjoyed, despite the way it ended.

While not essential, I like a gradual, but complete transformation. I wish there was a gradual tag to search for.

Thanks in advance for the reads!

Well, the good news is that in the past week I have regained my will to write!

The bad news?

All I've managed to turn out is a potential Halloween contest story that isn't good enough to see the light of day (though I might post it anyway, who knows?) and three chapters of Princess For Hire.

The last three of Book One.
