April Ashley has died

The second British MtF to receive 'sex-change' surgery. She lived a chaotic life of peaks and troughs including the disgraceful divorce case where the establishment, including the leading UK gender psychiatrist almost destroyed her. She will be remembered as a beautiful and charismatic woman who campaigned for transgender rights and was awarded an MBE. May she rest in peace.

there went my good mood

Well, my good mood has gone pop. after I posted on Facebook about the gift I got this year, I got this reply from my sister in law: "It's a shame that after the love and grace received thought your brother deserved no card, nor gift but a black lump of coal. It's even more a shame he expected no better treatment."

Advice to Judges in England and Wales

An article from the Guardian reporting that the 'equal treatment benchbook,' published by the Judicial College suggests more protection for trans people when in court including prevention of revealing original names and genders unless relevant to the case in point and the use of preferred names and genders where possible.

I would hope there aren't that many of us up in front of the judge, but who knows.

my Christmas miracle

Well, after listening to all the advice I was given, I will share my Christmas miracle.

To give some context, before my transition I was terrified that I would lose the people I loved if I came out, and of course that did not happen.

Despite that, there two people with deep concerns about what I was doing and why, my brother and sister-in-law.

Honestly I was just glad they were not actively trying to stop me.

Which brings us to Christmas.

I have a dilemma and I need your help

I'm facing a moral dilemma and I need everybody's help.

See, I had something very good happen to me yesterday, and originally I planned to come here and share it at full volume, but then I started thinking.

I'm already much better off than a lot of the people here, at least in terms of how accepting their loved ones are of the gender stuff, and I started to wonder if me sharing would make those people feel worse about their own situations.

And since I don't want to hurt anybody, should maybe I just . . . not share?

Advice please?

Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays everyone!

Hoping for all to have a safe(!) holiday. I'll admit to being rather bummed by most of my family deciding not to come out and visit due to concern for my Mom, as her health hasn't been good for over a score of years. Understandable and likely the wise course of action, but some of them I haven't seen now for two years and I'd really been looking forward to finally having everyone together. Instead we'll just have to continue holding 'em all in our hearts.

Count down to Christmas

Well here it is December 24th, Christmas Eve. As usual, we're all in a tizzy (mistyped that one as tissy. I almost left it. If you don't know the meaning, look it up and you'll see why.) Tomorrow we are headed in to town (that is the nearest big city, we live in a small town of about 2K population) to my daughters house for dinner and exchange of gifts. This is their first Christmas in their new house. My oldest will be going with us, my grandson (age 20) will be there as will my granddaughter (age 23) she has invited her first boyfriend. Yes, she didn't date in high school...

I (as with others) are on the Discord Channel (I will pretty much for three weeks!!), so please do visit and say hi :D

Today for me isn't as much as it used to be as a kid, or even in my earlier years. I am usually at home, just doing my comic stuff, and chatting with people online. But there is something that I still find is important.

Jingle Bells

I needed a bit of cheer, December has been a bit 2nd rate so far, and remembered that I should have had the cheap Christmas earrings out this week. (digs the box out) Well, they had the desired effect. Wife, Mum, and work are getting used to my little eccentricities now, for which I am grateful and appreciate that I am lucky in that respect. Anyway, jingle jingle! Frequent head shakes to hear them :-)

I wanted to comment on my story, "Moments of Madness", and offer some support to people who might feel similar, even if different, to how I felt at that time.

I am reposting the story mainly because I needed to fix it up and get it out there again. This is mostly because it is to help me and my feelings I have now, but maybe someone who reads it might feel a connection, and it might help them, perhaps.

Military dream

Okay so last night I dreamed I was one of a group of teens at a day camp studying to become cadets so they could enter the military after high school.

We studied military history, specifically Julius Caesar, and at the end of the camp all the cadets were in dress uniforms for the trip home.

But their uniforms included what I can only describe as a skirt. Not a kilt, but a plain red skirt with white stripes on the sides. Yes, boys and girls were in this outfit.

Wish fulfillment, maybe?

Hello everyone,

I just wanted to make sure to let you know that I have been able to write again. My two jobs kept me busy the last few months and I have been struggling with anxiety and mental health in general as well. Mostly due to Covid but other things as well.

I will soon post the next part to "The life of Riley". I'm sorry for the long wait. I hope I didn't disappoint anyone too much.

It wasn't bad and definitely had Del Toro's dark tone but one thing I plan to make clear from the trailer. I am a fan of Del Toro and his dark, Supernatural tone; however, this movie lacks the latter so let me disabuse you of that idea. If you still want to see it even then after the trailer feel free. It remains an interesting movie despite that though I was annoyed, feeling I had been misled by the trailer.

Jeopardy contestants often fold when adversity strikes. Not Amy Schneider. She now has won more money than all but three other contestants in the history of Jeopardy. She has done it with a smile and good humor.

Her knowledge is impressive but it is her presence that carries the day.

She isn't shy about being trans. Yet, it's clear it's not her focal point.

Hi there, wonderful Big Closet family. Jamie here, and I'm seemingly the one tasked with making the blog posts when shit happens to our tiny admin group here.

A few hours ago, Piper's brakes failed in her van as she was taking her NinjaPotato (nickname for her and her wife's young one) to dance class this evening. Everyone is alright, she was able to get the car safely into a Wawa parking lot and call for a tow and AAA....

But even with AAA, this is liable to be an expensive fix, on top of potential rental car cost. We could definitely use some help if anyone could send some Christmas funds our direction :)

Bad day

But today was a bad day.

After a nice Saturday with Sharon and Sam, including a gift exchange, we were surprised when Sharon called us and said she'd left a bag at a drug store.

So this afternoon we went down there, picked them up, took them to the store, and got the bag, and then Sharon said she needed to go to a local mall. I assumed it was some last minute shopping but when we got there she asked how long she and Sam could take in the mall, and feeling slightly boxed in, I said they could have an hour, and mom said they could have an hour and a half.

I'm not really hundred percent sure of this it was pretty incredibly strange. As an American living in the UK, it was something I'd heard a little about but not seen before. I'm of course talking about what I guess can only be called a British theatrical tradition the British pantomime. My family tried to explain it to me but I guess didn't really know where to start especially the pantomime dame. I have to admit a lot of it went over my head probably a lot of that was due to being deaf.

Each of us has only so many minutes, hours, days, weeks, months, years in this life. There is no buying or bartering for more. When others steal our labors they steal part of our life. There is no way to replace the time in our life stolen from us. Most figure it's a monetary thing. lost finances but it's much more. If one is looking to find how many sites reference back to one's accomplishments it wouldn't hurt to use several different search engines.

It was my third attempt at a story when a Christmas Film came on the TV. Five minutes in, and I knew that the 3,000 odd words that I'd written were junk. The plot of the film and my story were almost identical. For a moment, I felt like throwing my MacBook at the TV but I didn't. I'd certainly not seen the film before and was made in 2019.

My muse saw the similarity and promptly exited stage left into the distance at a great rate of knots and that's it.

Fourteen Inches of Snow

Spent the last hour and a half shoveling fourteen inches of snow. Thankfully it was light and fluffy, in mild temperature with no wind.

Rethinking the wisdom of buying a house with a double lot.

Gave away my two snowblowers when I moved to the city from the burbs. Had a big one for the driveway and a small one for the sidewalk and to blow the blow from my deck down into my pool.

Now all I have are four shovels, a spouse, and a springer spaniel (with dubious snow moving skills).

Based on my experience, with over a dozen books published on Amazon and over one hundred stories published on BC:

You are three times more likely to receive a comment on Amazon than you are on BC. Perhaps that's because people leave a kudos on BC instead of a comment.

My books on Amazon have received over 500 comments. My stories on BC have received nearly 2,000 comments.

There doesn't seem to be a difference -- between the number of good and bad comments, whether here or on Amazon. The ratio seems to be about 9:1.

A Recurring Theme?

I am wondering about a theme that I seem to be encountering over and over in stories. It is male saying to female: "You are mine". Do such ideas come from our primitive "Lizard Brain"? I've seen it in "Twilight" , the "50 Shades" story, and just now in chapter 26 of "Easy as Falling of a Bike". I suspect that it is a common theme that I have seen before but just now can't remember when.

Not that I expect it to happen to me.

It Is In Our Nature

In the reading of my own old stories, there are over 40 of them, it is clear that they all possess an embarrassing trait. They all seem to reveal the protagonist to be a Submissive in search of a Dominant. They reveal to me why my wife of 38 years always complained that I was too feminine. She did not understand that I was not so feminine but simply a servant, or desired to be. It is sad that we can not just be.

I'm 95% sure the story that I am looking for is a Standalone story, although it ties in with some of the feuds other cliques have with the Kimba's, and I can only remember the ending, and other than the main characters a specific character.

This character is troubled, depressed to the point of being suicidal, sees and hears ghosts\spirits, I think he may have been an avatar of one of the lower gods of the Greek pantheon (making him a part of the New Olympians)
