Gaming becoming a collector's hobby(rant).

As one of likely many gamers here I must rant. I've seen what the market has become for old vintage games and the costs for some systems and I'm sick and fucking tired of it.

How to make a mistake

Blog About:

Author:

One of the parts of adulting I'm trying to learn is how to make mistakes.

Now that probably sounds confusing, so let me explain.

For most of my life, any mistake I made became huge, an example of my general unworthiness. I would beat myself up, add the mistake to a list of mistakes that I kept reminding myself of, and generally act like I was in a really bad tragedy.

But adults dont act like that.

Dying a Stranger

Blog About:

Author:

Hi everyone,

As my transition continues (I went FT 7 Sep) it occurs to me that I don't want to be a stranger. There are so many me's in social media but I haven't connected the dots and, if something were to happen to me, I wouldn't want to be unknown here and have people wonder (if anyone would) where I went. I'd like people to know me, to remember me.

Hey I'm lookng for a story that I know was posted here. I just don't remember the name or the author's name. It's about a guy who gets pulled form his world into a high fantasy world and he becomes a goddess named Nikkie.

Still more grammar

Once again I've noted a couple of frequent grammatical errors in stories and thought I should try to help folks avoid them.

First off we have the "[person] and [pronoun]" construct.

For example "Shelly and I went to the store" or "The boys threw something at Shelly and me".

Note that the [person] always goes first. But getting that backwards is a minor error. More common (and jarring) is using the wrong form of the pronoun. In the above examples, that would be: "Me and Shelly went to the store" or "The boys threw something at Shelly and I".

I had an older cousin and then one sister put pressure on me via my wife to get me to go, and then was offered a place to sleep overnight as a lady who lives on the same property as I came with me, her mums house was less than a mile from the venue.

My friend has studied makeup and hairdressing. (woohoo personal stylist, she's an awesome friend & person)

Any suggestions for places to look in terms of Halloween places where I might be pleasantly surprised in terms of resources?

disaster

A day of extremes here in Yorkshire.

The positive - I'd been stressing over my income to cover the next month for a few days and a visit to the bank this morning cheered me up no end. There's enough to get me through the month if i'm careful and don't go mad eating or buying stuff. Why is this month tight? Well the trip to Austria pretty much used up every penny I had then a follow up of trips to London and next week's trip to Germany have ensured things remain very tight. After next week though I get a few weeks to consolidate things so things will become easier.

Zombie, Ninja, Pirate Spiders - Sept. Challenge - LAST DAYS

Some years ago I was running a tabletop RPG in which my players were exploring an underground ocean. They had their own ship and were attacked by another ship. The crew of the pirate ship seemed to be made up of human-sized spiders carrying cutlasses and firing muskets. Except some of them seemed to come out of nowhere and attack with nunchuks, sais and shurikens. And some of them seemed to be undead and unkillable.

During the course of the battle one of the players said, "Wait, wait! Stop! We're fighting Zombie, Ninja, Pirate Spiders?"

As you all probably know I am currently writing What Milsy Did, but along with that there are of course many other projects on the back burner, not all of which are Anmar related. In addition I have to balance writing with Real Life, Health and my recently increased family. (I'm off on Friday to help my son build two wardrobes to replace the temporary ones that the Twins have destroyed.)

Although Somewhere Else Entirely seems like a good story - good enough that I see people reading it every single day - as the author I am aware of many shortcomings and just plain goofs. Like most stories it evolved during the creation process and so various parts don't quite gel. It is my intention to slowly go through it from one end to the other correcting the worst of the problems.

Finally I got ready to publish this chapter a month or two ago and it had been so long, what with being ill and all since I had started it; I went back to the beginning and re-read everything from chapter 1. I discovered this chapter reallllly stank. I threw almost all of this chapter out and started over.

When I was a kid, I noticed that the insults directed at me, and any other male who wasn't popular tended to involve how feminine we were - "fag", "sissy" or even being called a girl.

I didn't understand it then, but I see it now. To those boys, being a girl was to be a lower form of life, and therefore the worst insult you could give a boy was to compare him to a girl.

I wonder how many of those boys ever stopped feeling like that, how many girlfriends and wives suffered because of that attitude, and how many taught that same feeling to their sons.
