I am looking for a story where the protagonist meets death and I believe she wants to borrow/share his body for a period of time. Part of the plot is that, while sharing his body with death, they meet another person (named something like 'delusion' or something similar), after which he slowly changes and things around him start to decay faster.
That is all I really remember at this moment, sadly. If anyone knows which story this is from, I would greatly appreciate some help!
I've been trying to find a story for a few days, but I can't seem to tease it out with filters. It is about a man changing into a woman due to nanobots. Not long into the story, he applies to work in security at (I believe) Whateley Academy. The rest is a bit of a blur which is why I have been looking for the story; to fill in the gaps.
I love science fiction and fantasy and can get lost in stories for days if they are good enough, but I have been having trouble finding another book. The last long story I read was Somewhere Else Entirely, but since then, I've been going from novel to novel about once a day. It's certainly a craving of mine and one I happily submit to.
Do any of you have books that you get lost in for days on end or know of novels that are of that length?
I only remember one scene from the beginning or near the beginning of this story, but it has been annoying me that I can't remember the rest of the story or the title. In the scene, the protagonist is a janitor in a research lab or chem. lab where a female scientist is working. Initially, the scientist is very protective of her work and sees the protagonist as a threat to it.
Because I'm that type of person who prepares for all eventualities, I'm just making a quick post to let everyone know that I'm taking down my story to rewrite it. I wrote it quite a long time ago and just want to start fresh. Besides, I only got one chapter through before I felt that something went wrong in my telling, so it's no big loss I don't think!
I don't know when or if it will be posted, but I'd like to think that I will have something up within the year :p

Why does it have to be that I love to write, but I hate both english and communications? I would just be so much easier if I didn’t have to go to take these classes in university.
