I know the postings have trailed off a bit, but between this problematic back and my unusual responce to Steroids (unlike the majority of humanity, they sedate me) I’ve not been productive. I am still at it and will post by Monday at the latest! You will see Chapter 23 shortly!

When Time Runs Out.

I've belatedly realized that much of what I have written has been various parts of a larger story, but not in order. Slowly, over the last nearly 40 years of writing, hopefully I've gotten better at it.

If anyone reads what I have written, I've tried to be optimistic, and romantic in the face of a lot of real life pain. Much of my novel is showing some semblance of order, but it is not finished, and may never achieve the artistry that I had desired. That is a disappointment.

shelving a story idea (for now)

I have talked here about an idea I had for this, my 10th anniversary year - having a character jump from one story universe to another.

Unfortunately, my muse isnt sending me anything to flesh the idea out, and instead I've been working on some sequels - one for the story "Sing a healing song", a new Jaci and Dottie story, and a story set in the "E-Girl" universe that will focus on the villains.

So I'm shelving the story jumping idea, at least for now.

Ave Maria
Some Catholics say Mary, the mother of Jesus has appeared to many Catholics across the world in the last few centuries. Would she appear to an 11-year-old protestant?
This 3 part story explains the feelings and trials of that boy, that is the center of a Mary apparition.

What ever happened with Sarah Carrera?

Until around 2011 or 12 there was an author here named Sarah Carrera, I think. She wrote stories about a t girl that lived in the Sacramento, Ca. area, had a band, or sang and did none performance in the Red Rock Amphitheater in Colorado. It may have been that she was eventually discovered to have girl parts?

I think that in private emails, she told me that she was going on a 2 year Mormon Mission, so she dropped out of sight. She did not resurface after her mission, at least not using the same name.

It took 6 months but I finally finished chapter 7 of The Puppeteer. First time that's ever happened. Why; you ask. Ok. picture this. You're painting a whole room and stop when you realize you've literally painted yourself into the opposite corner. Unfortunately you just HAPPEN to be wearing your precious iced pink satin Valentino ballgown and 1100 dollar(made to fit only you) Dalco pumps. Ok, just have to wait for the paint to dry, finish up and walk out, right? Wrong. the paint dries to the wrong shade and the floor turns out to be warped enough to show with that hideous color!

Posting a new story - Cassandra

It's been ten years since I posted my very first attempt at fiction here at BCTS (or indeed anywhere). For those of you who have been around that long it was 'The Healing Dagger', a short story of about 18,000 words set in the aftermath of a global pandemic. I try not to go back and read it now. Far too embarrassing!

And I'm afraid the hurting isnt over. See, I've been, so to speak writing checks my body cant cash for a long time, and it looks like nature is going to collect. Is a picture really worth 1,000 words?

I was looking through the listings of recent stories the other day, and I saw a picture that to me, at least was very disturbing. Now in all reality the subject matter wasn't overly graphic, but it also at the same time is totally not my thing. so based on the scary picture, I stayed away. I will also admit there have been flashy graphics that have steered me to stories... and some poorly done ones that have made me stay away from the story as well.

So I'm curious if Amazon is just not allowing reviews for that story. On Goodreads, there's been a review and several positive rankings.

There is a small shop called "The Store" which also has the local laundry attached. This place is located in Bettyhill which is in the far north of Scotland. For those interested, it is at 58.53°N 4.22°W
That's 58 North. Beyond this going north is the Arctic.

This place serves great food. The Mushroom and Tarragon soup was great and very warming on a day that was dominated by very strong N.E. Winds.
Anyway, this sign caught my eye as I ate the soup.

A couple of interesting things this last weekend.

First at church: Increasingly I've adopted many practices that I perceive ad feminine. One of them is sitting to do my business in the bathroom, which means that I always use the stall in public restrooms. At church, where I've been attending since long before I came out to anyone but my wife, this last Sunday I needed to use the restroom before service. In the stall, there was a new roll of TP and the left over small portion of the previous roll on top of it. So I used the part roll to wipe in front. I'm sure that I flushed.

Information requested on breast forms

Hello ladies, I'm a 'newbie' on this site and have read some great stories. I've had some writing experience but not in this genre, so I am trying my hand at it. My chief character buys some adhesive breast forms like those advertised on the home page. I understand they have to be removed on a regular basis. Can anyone tell me how often and how long they have to be kept off? Also can they be worn while having a bath or shower or will that loosen them?
Thanks for your help, Theresa

Need Some Writing Help :)

I need some help with Oregon region. I've been toiling with this particular story for a while now and I want to be fairly accurate with it. I've been known to write as vague as possible when it comes to the region I place my stories. I generally just put them in a fictional town in the area where I live. The thing is, I like variety too. This current one I'm writing takes place in a fictional town in Oregon. The problem is that I don't know ANYTHING about the area. Any kind of help would be greatly appreciated.

The Real Score about Fanfiction and Fair Use

Hi.

I was reading a blog here in the Big Closet, titled "Fan Fiction." (see https://bigclosetr.us/topshelf/blog-entry/79528/fan-fiction )

I was interested in the topic because I knew something about it because it's part of the work that I do, and I thought I could pick up something that may be useful at work next time I have to deal with the same thing again. And, besides, I have several fanfiction stories here.

Anyway, though I am not a lawyer, I've been fielding questions and issues relating DCMA, derivative works and Fair Use for a while now. So I have a fairly substantial knowledge about it, IMHO.

So I thought I'd share what I know about fanfiction and Fair Use (I know my facts are backstopped, but feel free to verify the things I say here if you want - I won't mind, though I ask that, if you disagree, that we not fight or argue, okay? Let's be civil).

Fan Fiction

I've just viewed a movie that I thought had a lovely premise but suffered from weak science, poor film editing, and recovered only about half the costs in the box office. "The Space Between Us".

I do so want to write a Fanfiction story that rounds the story out, but the more I look at doing it the more sinister the penalties seem.

I think I see quite a lot of it here that is Fanfiction based on video games.

I wonder how the authors stay out of trouble?

Girl? Boy? Gender Fluid

We do a lot of stories about the boy who can easily switch gender so he-she is recognized as she. Back in the late sixties and seventies a lot of boy bands were desperately trying to stand out from the crowd. Several ideas were tried by the different bands. High pitched voices, long hair of course, glitzy clothes that could be female, and to a lesser extent even full makeup. Most looked like long haired males. Some had me doing double, triple takes.

doing yardwork is proving a challenge

When I moved in to my brother and sister-in-law's basement, one of the things I agreed to was to take over the outside chores - mostly snow shoveling and lawn care.

At that time the thing I worried about was that my mental health issues would make doing these jobs tough.

I never dreamed how fast my physical health would deteriorate.

I never imagined that there would be a time when being out working for an hour would be a serious challenge.

I honestly dont know how long I can keep up to my promise, or what happens when I cant anymore.

Interesting quote from a bad novel

“You see it from a man’s point of view-you see sex as a coupling, like two cars in a train attaching themselves to each other with a gentle crunch. Women see it as a penetration, an invasion, an assault with or without battery, which leaves scars, some of which are visible, most of which are concealed. Can’t you understand? At different points in our lives we are different people. These points can be days apart, even hours, it doesn’t matter. Women love differently then men. We spend our lives trying to figure out . what it means to be female.

story idea - "the Breach"

Okay so I'm fooling around with a story idea, and could use some feedback, Basic idea is a young heroine from a obscure "magical girl" manga which has been repackaged for an English speaking audience finds herself blown out of the pages of her book, into a place between stories, between universes. She now goes from universe to universe, story to story, trying to get "home". To make this idea extra awesome I'd like other authors' permission for her to visit their stories and interact with their characters as part of her journey,
