Chapter 24.

Luna sat on top of her sleeping bag, looking at each of us. “I’m so happy! I’ve never had an actual sleep over before. What do people do at these things?”, she queried.

When I was seven I knew what I wanted to do when I grew up.
I wanted to be a fire truck.

Seriously,I wanted to be a fire truck: drive around with lights and sirens with firemen to put out fires.

I have a few of those things still. I get to work with lights, sirens, smoke and I kind of worked with firemen, but not from a fire truck; actually from a stage at a club called “Four Alarm”.

Jane took the offered towel from Katherine and smiled as he tried to clear some of the icings away from his face, fingers and from the front of his dress. Josephine helped by bringing out a wet rag that was used to get most of the remaining icing and a little from his dress. Susan, once she finished laughing guided Jane over to the table where the presents where kept, while she darted into the kitchen to fetch a broom and a dustpan. She started to clean up the mess while Josephine handed out the gifts.

Chapter 23.

Larry limps home after getting beaten up. The neighborhood he lived in with his parents was a rough neighborhood. The boys of the neighborhood hated him because he wasn’t any good at playing any of the sports he tried out for. It also didn’t help that he looked younger than he really was and was of short stature either.

His father was embarrassed about him and called him a sissy because he liked to dance and do girly things. His mother, on the other hand, didn’t really do anything with him or show him any type of love. She was more interested in her looks and socializing.

It was just after one in the afternoon when we arrived at the house in Wiltshire. We’d taken a pretty roundabout route just in case we were being followed but a diversion through some very narrow lanes in South Oxfordshire and West Berkshire had made it next to impossible for any vehicle to follow us without us seeing them.

Jemma got out at the top of the drive to do a quick reconnoitre of the property and the surrounding land. She checked her Glock and then smiled at me as she disappeared into the undergrowth.

“Come on,” mum insists as she arranges me and my sisters against the outside wall. “Can’t not get a photo of this, my four beautiful girls!” I smile as I hold hands with Bryony, who holds Cassie’s hand, who eagerly grips onto Dorothy’s hand. Today is a big day for all of us- the first day of school after a long summer holiday, and it’s a big day for me in particular, as it’ll be my last ever ‘first day of school’.

Pharmacy

Synopsis:

Mark, on his way home from work stops at the pharmacy to buy diapers for his landlady’s niece. He steps right in the middle of a robbery. The robbers have a lot of time on their hands waiting for the book keeper to arrive and open the safe. Then one of them starts going through Mark's cart and begins to smile.
