= Give everyone the benefit of the doubt because certainty is a fragile thing that can be shattered by one overlooked fact.
I couldn't finish it ...
... because the motorcycle setting is so wildly in accurate. The writing is fine (I usually have no difficulty suspending disbelief in Melanie's books) but, having been involved in motorcycles (and sidecars) myself, the background grated so much I had to give up.

What specifically bothered you? I've been involved in motorcycles practically my whole life. My dad was a motorcycle dealer for about ten years. My brother raced motocross, TT Scrambles and street and a few enduros. I've personally attended races across the country including the Daytona 200. Obviously in any work of fiction, liberties might be taken to enhance the story. Do I claim to know everything? Of course not, but I think I have enough experience to write a reasonable fantasy.
I'm sorry you couldn't find your way to finish. The book has been getting otherwise good reviews so it would be helpful if you couild tell me what part offended you enough to stop reading.
