When Culley’s wife died I was there for him. I can’t say that I was there for all of my friends, but I was there for him when it mattered. I don’t like sadness. I will do almost anything to avoid it. But I suppose he was my best friend. I am not completely selfish.

CHAPTER 41
Cathy turned out to have been absolutely right about the break doing wonders for their exam chances, or else the two girls were ferociously bright. I had guessed that about Cathy on first meeting her, but Nell’s softly-spoken manner hadn’t revealed the true depth of her own intellect. I actually felt a little bit of resentment at their results (all ‘A’ grades!), with a little bit of snarkiness about how two girls from a children’s home had outperformed so many of Daddy’s Little Rich Bitch Princesses, but told myself I was being unfair on girls I had never met.

Chapter 2

While Linda was gone searching for the dreaded heels Victor gave the outfit he was supposed to wear a closer look. Just looking at the pile of pink gave him shivers. He really didn’t want to put any of this outfit on, but it didn’t look like he would have much of a choice. “It’s only fabric, a bitter pill to swallow, but if you put on this dress now and let that horrid Linda snap some pictures, then get elected for the shoot and repeat this all over your troubles will be over.” He tried to motivate himself.

Looking out the window of the batmobile, Bella absentmindedly fiddles with her hair, twirling her finger around her long red locks.

"I just don't get it," Bella says.

"We will catch them," Bruce says, "it will just take time."

"And how many girls will die before then?" Bella says accusatorily, "sorry. It's not your fault. It's just so frustrating."

After flubbing a powerful incantation, meant to give newly coronated Demon Queens the wisdom of their ancestors, Devilla Satanne awakens to memories of her past life as Jacob Divington, a human from Earth. Having gained a new perspective on life, she quickly comes to a rather horrifying conclusion: she's been a complete and utter brat! No wonder everyone hates her!

And then there's the fact that she's apparently been reincarnated as the villainess of Tower Conquest, a lesbian porn game with a surprisingly intricate plot. One in which the Heroine conquers Dimona Tower, turning Devilla's people against her in the process. In victory, the Heroine brings about a glorious age of peace between demons and humans for the first time in millennia. ...Which actually sounds pretty good for her people, come to think of it. Devilla knows her terrible behavior is beyond forgiveness, but maybe she can still make up for her past mistakes? She just needs to make sure the events of the game unfold correctly. Though there is one little detail she'd like to change - the part where Devilla herself is killed or enslaved!

Just then, Taranjit had arrived with a tray that held tea and cups. “The boys call him Gitaz, sir. Because he supplies the melody for their playing” he said, setting them down. “Not any more” I told him “I have been disposed of for a supposedly more authentic and bearded model.”

The Webster and Dorman families were brought together by the rescues first by a Dorman young man of a Webster young girl, then two years later a Webster young man of a Dorman young girl, and ensuing love which led to marriage when they each turned eighteen. Seventeen-year-old Stephen William Webster and his nanny, Better Wilcox, finally blow the whistle after the murder of thirteen-year-old Rachael Dorman because she refused to be forced into a loveless marriage.
