I'm going to use this as a place to discuss search, how to use it and what people want to use it for.
A few things:
When you use multiple words in a search, the default is to perform an OR search. Searching for curly perm will turn up both curly and perm and will list first results that have both terms.
Searches are case insensitive. Perm, perm and PERM are all the same.
Searches are made for roots, so perm, perms, permed and perming are all the same. But permanent is a different word.
A plus symbol in front of a word in a search means that word is required so curly +perm will return only results that have some form of perm in them and will prefer ones that have curly, also. +curly +perm results must have both words though not necessarily next to each other.
A minus sign means do not include the following word in results so perm -curly would return results that matched perm but would not include ones that also had curly.
Quotes around a phrase will search for an exact match, but will still ignore case. "curly perm" will match Curly perm and lots of variations but both words in that order must be present.
Comments are regarded by search as part of the post.
The sidebars allow you to restrict searches to posts that match various criteria, like type of post, audience rating or authorship. At the top right is a sidebar that allows you to control how the search indexer orders results.
When we upgrade to Drupal 7, this will all change a bit but not drastically.
You can use this thread to ask questions and make comments about search.
In this chapter, Emily finds herself thrust into the cold, unyielding environment of a police station, the weight of her actions pressing down on her with every step. The harsh fluorescent lights and the relentless questions amplify her fear, leaving her wondering what comes next. But just when the walls feel like they’re closing in, Emily’s world takes an unexpected turn.
A suitor and a trip to the doctor's office keep Stevie on edge. Once again, I am
a wordy writer, so only read if words are something you enjoy. Also, if you complain
that you don't understand a character's motivation while also admitting you skipped
parts of the story, then... never mind.
I hope you're all remaining well. These are such stressful times. God bless.

Kelly Girl by Wanda Cunningham is the story of a boy who is too pretty for his own good -- he keeps getting mistaken for a girl! Farce, drama, adventure and romance in almost equal portions. Fate wore a pony tail and a red dress. We were both attending a large group ballroom dancing lesson along with perhaps two hundred other kids our age, all of whom attended schools in town. Our mid-lesson break had just begun when the lovely girl headed my way.
Christina was a very pretty girl with pretty blue eyes and shoulder length, light brown hair. She wore a red, short-sleeve, cotton dress that hung just below her knees and had a sparse floral pattern on it. She wore suntan nylons, and black, leather flats — and she was headed my way.
What had I gotten myself into? The phone was ringing and I knew it was my friend Keri. As usual, I ran down the hall from my bedroom at one end of the house to the phone in the guest bedroom at the other end. The sound of my footfalls was deceptively loud on the oriental “runner” style rug that adorned the dark-stained hardwood floor. I always ran right past my sister Tara’s bedroom door on my way to answer the phone.
She had just picked up a large laundry basket of clothes to take them downstairs to the laundry room. She heard me coming down the hall but misjudged how far away I was and thought she could hurry past before I got to her door. She darted out of her room and I slammed into her, knocking her clear off her feet and sending her basket of clothes all over the place. I decided to help my sister up instead of answering the phone. Keri would have no trouble understanding that decision. I apologized to Tara immediately and profusely, making sure she was all right
and helping her pick up her clothes. Tara was okay, but she had a couple of bruises and was shaken up a bit. She wasn’t angry with me because she knew it had been a silly accident and she knew that she could have waited for me to pass. She even smirked at me. She knew how much I liked Keri and she knew that she had run clear across the house from the living room in front to the kitchen in back to answer the phone for a boy herself.
Everything began during my sister Dierdre’s slumber party one Friday night. My twin sister, Kirsten, was away for the night at a friend’s house. The only other person in the house was my single mom, and she had to leave on business.
Dierdre’s party was fairly small. There were only three other girls there, Alexis, Karen and Caitlin. I could usually find something else to do, but when there were pretty girls in the house they would command my attention and pique my curiosity. I had never spied on my sister before today, but I couldn’t resist. She and her friends were pretty and I always loved to see what they were wearing and how they did their hair.
The girls all arrived around noon. Because my mom had to be away on business that night, my sister had had to negotiate with her to have the slumber party. My mom asked who would be present at the party and when Dierdre listed the names of the three girls that she’d invited, Mom recognized them as good kids, not the trouble making sort at all. Satisfied that they could be trusted, she allowed the party. She asked Dierdre what they would be doing for dinner and she said that Alexis’ mom was picking them up and taking them to dinner. Mom figured that was good; it meant that we’d have adult supervision at least part of the time. She left money so that Dierdre could pay for herself, her friends and me and warned her not to leave me home alone at night or else. She said that if Dierdre would prefer I go to a friend’s for dinner instead of having dinner with the girls then that would be all right too.

"Well, sorry to be nosey," said Dionne very hesitantly," and I didn't really remember everything from the assembly, but do you still have a ...you know what, a thingie.....?"
"A thingie?" I asked.
"Yes you know," she said looking suggestively at the top of my legs.

The salad was brought to the table, although I felt as much like tipping it over Stella as eating it. I was still blushing as she tucked into her Spanish omlette.
"I would aim to relieve you of your purses" said the masked woman.
"And how do you intend to go that young woman?" asked Lord Parsimon.
"It's a matter of your money or your life, as they say in the parlance " was the woman's reply as she cocked her pistol and pressed it against the fat Lord's head.
I had originally planned on publishing this comic on Easter, but my computer burnt out on me before I could post it. I created my latest submission while thinking about what it was like seeing girls wearing pretty Easter dresses and wondering what life might have been like if I had been allowed to wear one too. I hope everyone enjoys my latest submission to this slowly growing series of single panel comics. :)
We got home and were both still buzzing. How could singing a few songs with some old bloke have such an affect on me? His energy was amazing and it seemed to build as he went on, as if he’d absorbed it from the audience.
“So you think…” I couldn’t bring myself to finish saying what I’d intended.
Detective Johnson turned his attention back to the road just as the light changed. As we pulled through the intersection, he muttered, “I knew I shouldn’t have let you go tonight.”
Ignoring his comment I asked, “What about my things? You know, my equipment? And I left my purse on a table in the club.”
Breakfast was a little embarrassing, with Stella and I blushing every time we made eye contact. When she had finished and was going up to dress, I grabbed her and gave her a huge hug. She initially tensed then I felt her body relax. In fact she began to cry.
"Stella we have to get through this, both your ordeal and what happened last night."
Alexandra and Tran face the prejudice and the law in their new lives, but will they have to return to their old lives in order to live their dreams completely?
Murphy understood the law and knew justice. He also knew that the two were often not the same. To catch the bad guy and win a confession you had to be willing to step outside the box and take chances. That’s what made him a great cop. But that didn’t give him the right to take the law in his own hands. All he had to do was have a boy examined to confirm his true gender and now his mistake was going to cost him. Maybe his job? Maybe a demotion?
But then nothing in this case was turning out like it should. He should have seen this coming. He should have known that you can test the odds and you can test your resolve, but never pit your luck against Murphy’s Law.
Because sure as the devil will get his due . . . anything that can go wrong, will go wrong!
