Love and Dysphoria

Copied from Facebook, author unknown

Am I woman enough for you?

My voice
Does it
Calm
Soothe you?
Make you dream of the fields and forest?

Does my hand fit into yours?
Or does it bulge in odd places
Feel uncomfortable
Like my hand was never made to be held
Like shoes never fit my feet

Dresses weren’t meant for my shoulders
But maybe you could still
Hold me
Squeeze me just enough that they shrink
So I could stop being too much

And would you mind
Plastering my hips?
Clay or anything that fits
To pretend my bones grew
The way they were supposed to

Take a chisel
And lament on my face
The jaws, chin, nose, and brow
All out of place
Please?

Do you love me still?
In my patchwork
Or am I okay
Enough
The way I am

Am I woman enough for me?
