On the fourth day, wanting to make a different form from my others, I adopted the traditional style of the genie, a spirit which had the upper half of a male human which arose from a cloud. The legless body simply flew or floated instead of walking, and by having only a cloud below the waist, naturally didn’t have sexual organs.

An aunt I scarcely remembered had passed away and I was sole heir of her will. I had just lost my job and was down to my last couple of hundred dollars. I had to travel to Los Angeles to visit the attorney’s offices. I had to be out my rented furnished apartment in a few days and I went down to the local Greyhound Bus office and booked a ticket for the day after tomorrow.

I get up and shake off the shock and grab the skirts of it and I try to run. One of the cops catches up to me and grabs me. I tuck into him and throw him over my shoulder and run in another direction. Or rather I try to run except for this goddamned thing around my legs and of course it fell back down when I flipped the cop.

Two weeks, Marisa! I’m feeling a lot better physically. I have almost no pain now, except when I move around too fast. I can go to the bathroom on my own now (yay!), and therapy is going a lot better. I still have a long way to go, but I think I can see the light at the end of the tunnel.

When Sam woke, she had an inexplicable feeling of joy coursing through her heart. She floated into the bedroom, grabbed some clothes, and went to have a shower and get changed. After she was dressed, she came out and started making breakfast.
