Chapter 8

I’m still kind of laughing because well…

I just went nuts on somebody and I’ve never gone nuts on someone before in my life. I mean before it was ignore being ignored. Take the looks, take the whispered little comments. Just take it, take it, take it.

But Sammi’s my friend, one of my only friends and I’ll effing die before people get away with treating my friends like dirt! (sob!)

Okay crying now.

I hurt.

Ow, I think I skinned something and my hands hurt from using the crutch.

Sammi comes running out. “Oh fuck! Kayla? Are you okay?”

Part V - At the hospital.

Gloria and Mandy just made it to the hospital as the paramedics were taking Ruth in to the Emergency Room entrance. They parked in the ER parking lot, and went in and talked to the receptionist. They were told to have a seat, because the doctor may want to talk to them.

They sat down in the small waiting area, you so commonly see in Emergency Rooms. It seemed to take forever, but then a young nurse came out and called for "family" of Ruth Watkins.

The pain was the first thing I noticed. I was afraid to open my eyes because the light already hurt, even through my eyelids. I had the most incredible headache, kind of like brain freeze multiplied a hundred times. My tongue tasted kind of like I had spent the night mopping the floor with my tongue, and every sound seemed to make my brain pound. I sort of wanted to puke, and I think every part of me was in pain.

When Nick tries to find a date on the internet he gets more than he bargained for.

Please note that I am writing this as a form of fiction , understand that if some of the things written down here are unrealistic, they are meant to be. Throw away all thoughts of logic because there is no logic to many dating sites, this story will reflect that. Please note that time is illogical on them as well; so too in this story.

One of the final "volunteers" is chosen. Can they all find one another and get used to their new abilities and bodies? Stay tuned folks. It gets bumpy from here.

The chapter deals with Daphne's convalescence and the stay by Shirley and the children for the last week of the Christmas 'hols'.
Dave anbd Blodwen meet an old classmate who proves to be sympathetic to Daphne.

Part IV - After the mall.

After the police left with Roger, Renée started crying. Sandi was the first one to notice this.

This was very hard to write. Been there, done that, but nobody ever found out. At least so far as I know!

Mom, Grandma and I went outside to the backyard, and we walked up to the tree. It was quite large, easily 40 feet tall.

“Okay, now what am I supposed to do with it?” I asked.

“Well, the first thing to do would be to strip the leaves off of it, then remove the branches from the main trunk, stacking them carefully over by the garage for a bonfire Friday night.” Mom said.

“How should I do it? Is there some kind of mental tool I need to use?”

You can blame my grandfather for the fact I know that line. Its from a TV show from the dark ages called “The Six Million Dollar Man.” He likes to tell me he worked on the show.

Over and over again.

Somehow, he ended up with a lot of memorabilia from it too. A whole pile of props, mostly examples of the “bionic” parts. He also has copies of all the scripts, and worst of all, copies of film he er... liberated from the set.
