A Trans-American Tale

A Trans-American Tail

produced by Steven Spielberg featuring Zoe Taylor as the voice of Foible, the Trans-mouse from Minsk

A girl went to use
a bathroom at McD’s
And then she was beaten
with not so much as if you please
Her only transgression,
I fear I must confess
Is that they assumed she was
a boy in some nice dress

But there is no hate in America
And espech’ly for a tranny
Yes there is no hate in America
Where our tol'rance is uncanny

* * *

A girl in her High School
was elected Queen
She was very sweet,
as sweet as ever been
But her nice coronation
was sadly mixed with fear
As some from the outside
said...she's just some dressed up queer.....

But there is no hate in America
Where you’re always well respected
Yes there is no hate in America
As a T-Girl you’re accepted

* * *

Now there are some people
Who say they understand
They see us as real women
They accept us once again
A tacit patronizing
since they say it every time
While nodding in approval
it feels like such a crime

But there is no hate in America
Please don’t get so quite frenetic
We accept you as a woman
Whether T-Girl or genetic!

Too true! Absolutely all

Too true! Absolutely all too true.

Though I do wonder why you use the term T-girl. Are you unaware of the implications in pornography and prostitution?

I thought my tongue was planted firmly in my cheek just now, LOL. It's merely my way of demonstrating that even some who accept us still make that distinction, don'tcha know???? :D

Genius. I would ask for a dose of whatever you took, Drea, but I just had some Whiskey. That's good enough for me. ^_^

Your ability to take an existing rhyme scheme and turn it into something else that is so meainingful amazes me. I think you and W. S. Gilbert have a lot in common. You make us laugh and cry, but at the same time make us look at ourselves so much more closely. Just remember, there is no hate in America. It's only there if we open our eyes.

I must be getting better I actually read something

I know what you mean as the poem unfolds, we have diversified transgender into all sorts of different acronyms, but no mattter what the acronym hate is still hate.
I am out of the work force and yet I am involved with the VFW, combat Veterans Of Delaware and NAMI. None of them have put me aside because I now present as female. I am the sister in the combat Vets, I am the sister in the VFW and I am Miss Jill In NAMI.
Although places I go I get that look of disdain, but that's there problem not mine.
When someone is hurt that is part of our universe because of hate we need to demand justice.

'Drea says she used me as the 'voice' because she knows how much I love to sing. What made me giggle is that, though I honestly don't remember this, my parents both swear that I drove them crazy singing "Somewhere Out There" when I was a kid. :-) Imagine my surprise when we performed it as part of a homecoming half-time show one year - but I digress!

I'm so sorry for not commenting sooner. I've been on an emotional roller coaster with more twists and hairpin turns than an Ozark mountain backroad. But now that I have read it all I can say is "fantastic"! ^_^

*hugs* Thank you, Aunt 'Drea, for featuring me like that, too. I'm always honored to play some small role in your wonderful craft. It's as beautiful as always :-D
