A Christmas Wish
Hohman, Indiana...
Kenny shrugged as he looked upward. He never felt like his prayers would be answered He gazed at the pile of green and red clothing lying in an almost pristine pile on his bed.
He wanted so badly to dress up as a Christmas Elf, but it would never go past his bedroom door. He sighed and looked upward again.
"God?" His pleas rarely went further than unspoken prayers.
"Kenny?" a voice seemed to come from behind. He turned and found himself alone. He stuck his lip out slightly in a disappointed pout.
"Kenny? God hears your prayers,"
"I never said anything," Kenny said,
"He hears every word... even the ones you don't say." The voice sounded sweet and powerful all at once,
"Put on your outfit," The voice said. He felt a strong hand guide him to the bed. He looked down.
"I... I can't," Kenny looked at the Christmas Elf Costume... A Girl Costume.
"Trust me. Put on the clothes. Lie down and go to sleep.
"I... I feel silly."
"Kenny... put on the clothes. Trust me." The voice was insistent but encouraging. Kenny picked up the clothes and held them to his chest.
"So I can get the job at Higbee's?"
"Oh, most definitely,' the voice laughed softly.
"Oh...Okay," Kenny slowly undressed and put on the Elf outfit.
A moment later he was fast asleep on his bed.
The Next Morning
Kenney slowly sat up and stretched out his arms in a waking moment. He rose from the bed and toddled into his bathroom. He looked into the mirror over the sink; expecting the worst. Instead, he was more than pleasantly surprised Looking back at him was a pretty young lady dressed in the Elf costume.
"How did this happen?" Kenny.... had a look on her face that of panic mixed with glee."
"You wanted to be an Elf. You put on the clothes. You're an Elf," The voice materialized; not as a Fairy Godmother but as a motherly Angel"
"I wanted to be an Elf, but..." Kenny....Kendra put her hand before her face; almost embarrassed.
"Remember that I said He hears everything'' including what you said without saying."
"So I get dressed as an Elf and now I'm a girl Elf? How does that work?"
"Well.... to use an old saying? The Lord Elfs those who Elf themselves"
