Twelve Days to Christmas - Day 2

460454876.jpg

Have ourselves a merry little Christmas?
Do the best we can…
Maybe this is the year
we come out to our family as trans?
Have ourselves a merry little Christmas?
What’s the worst to fear…
That we put it off
to some indefinite far-off year?

Here we are as in olden days
un-emboldened days of yore
with some friends who might fear for us
as we retreat to the closet once more

Through the years I hope we’re not together
If I don’t come out
No reason we should both be filled with fear and doubt…
At least YOU should have yourself a merry little Christmas now

I think that's about the saddest Christmas song I ever heard.

As much as this is part of the repertoire

... of Christmas carols, in the context of the movie, Meet Me In St. Louis, it is a very sad song. I don't believe most people who listen to it understand what it's about.

Dearest Andrea, it's a part of our condition. Most of us are in the same boat and I'll share it with you this Christmas and probably for a long time to come. You are not alone love.

Crying...

Crying very quietly right now, so no one else will notice.

Because this may just be the last Christmas I have with my wife, my life companion for over 25 years.
I came out, and she won't handle it.
