Happy Birthday, Dorothy

Happy Birthday, Dorothy

Author’s note: This is sort of an antidote to my story, “The old man at the window.” Please join me in this little look into a possible future for some old broad named Dorothy Colleen....

It was Dorothy’s birthday, and the whole extended care facility was buzzing with anticipation.

I Been sick!

Sorry, everybody, I've been very sick, and I haven't been online much. I spent today editing Jessica's Journey, Chapter 12 (Sorry!), and now I'm working on the next Wild Magic. Warning-While I was sick, I read a few books on witches, Wicca and Magic, and things will be changing to reflect that. I hope I can surprise some of you!

Once again, I apologize!

The Girl From Ipanema

ipanemagirl_1.jpgThe Girl From Ipanema
By Anon Allsop

I sat alone on a tall stool at the end of the bar and watched the passersby on their way down toward the Ipanema beach. I was barely past my twenty-fifth birthday and on a whim took a trip down to Brazil to contemplate whether I was cut out for the hustle and bustle life that my father wished of me. The Cachaca I was drinking made from fermented cane sugar and lime was smooth yet sweet, and going down way too easily.

I gave the tender a high sign by holding my empty glass into the air, and silently watched the groups on the terrace below me. Wishing desperately I could be more like the man down at the beach side table with the four stunning women seated around him.

To all who called me on my being a drama queen

An apology, to all who called me on my being a drama queen over the incident with my car. I just got off the phone with the insurance company, and it turns out I'm NOT going to have to have a year's worth of coverage up front. Once again, what looked to me like a mountain turns out to be a mole-hill, and boy is my face red over my over-reaction.

Hopefully, this is a lesson I can learn for the next time something happens - dont make more trouble than is actually there, and take it one breath at a time.

Thanks to everyone who puts up with me anyway.

Understanding Rachel, Part 5

Understanding Rachel, Part 5

Rachel looked at her phone in shock as though it was responsible for what just happened. Her best friend Tayna had screamed at her, and then hung up on her.

Rachel began to feel the wetness of tears run down her cheeks, as she replayed the conversation over in her mind, and began to chastise herself for her behavior.

Odyssey III Chapter 10

Chapter 10

The Evans charter boat business and the Grandview B&B were officially absorbed into The Clan Wells Point on Monday. Robert, Kevin, Jane, Kurt, Amanda, Gilligan and Mary Ann went to the local Bank of America office to pay off the mortgage on the B&B and the loan on the boat. Ownership was then transferred to the Clan to create two new divisions of the Clan Wells Point businesses, the CWP Grandview B&B with Kurt and Amanda as the operators and the CWP Charter Boat with Gilligan and Mary Ann as the operators.

Reading Amy's latest story has given me an idea. Most of you know my history, but just imagine what if the doctor who abused me instead helped me? What might have happened? I'm going to noodle that and see where it goes ....

Interesting article at npr.org on children and gender

Interesting article on NPR "Can Children Know, At Age 2, They Were Born The 'Wrong Sex'?"

http://www.npr.org/blogs/13.7/2012/05/24/153285061/can-child...

It refers to a longer article in the washington post on "Transgender at five". That one is a very intersting story that could just as easily show up here. Hope all goes well for the little kid.

Swimming upstream

Every morning, I get up, look at this body of mine, and wonder how I can possibly make being female work. I mean, put it in a suit and have it lose 50 pounds, and it would probably be called "handsome".

And yet here I am, trying to change that, and somehow make this body pass as a woman's.

Its dam hard, and sometimes, it feels like a hopeless task, so why do I bother?

I've never had enough discipline in my life to reach any goal I've set, so why do I think this will be any different than when I tried to become a nurse, or before that a teacher?

Andy's Diary Background

First -- the diary is very autobiographical. My mother ruled the roost with an iron hand and used terror to control me. I was subject to bullying not only at home but from her. She also bullied my father. He was largely absent from my day to day life because he was working as well as attending night school 3 nights a week to get his MBA. He never knew what went on until I was 25 years old, some 12 years later, and by that time I was so deep in my substance abuse that it didn't matter.

UK Dialogue

I've just come up with an attempt at a short (750 words, I think) humorous tale -- probably for Fictioneer, since it's non-TG and there's only been one story posted there by anyone in more than 10 weeks.

But it seems slightly more appropriate for me to set it in England than the U.S. Because of that, I'd appreciate a reader from that side of the pond letting me know if the dialogue is too American. (Now that I think about it, I don't even know if the payoff sentence is used there.)

The First Queen in the Village 13!

The following posting should not be taken seriously! It just reflects my inability to create visual images in electronic form! This is, in fact, a morning's work, creating a map of the Village - now named "MUCH HUMPING IN THE MARSH". The formatting is totally messed and none of the detail is readable. But I thought you all might have a laugh!! What I am to do - without a CD friend with computer art skills, I have no idea!! I'm gonna get back to writing!!!! Love you all! Ginger xx

On a completely lighter note

On a completely lighter note from my last couple of blogs, I have passed the three-year mark here a little while ago, and in celebration of that, I would like to thank all the wonderful people here.

First, Erin and her administrator elves, take a bow. I only wish I could do more than just say how amazing you guys all are.

Secondly, to all the members of "Team Dorothy" who put up with me. You guys rock!

Lastly, but not leastly, to all the people who have left comments on any of my stories, bless you all.

the bad news, and the worse news

Well, finished dealing with the insurance company for the moment, and I got both the bad news and the worse news. The bad news is that due to the non-payment I was cut off as of April 1, and to re-start a policy I'm going to have to pay the yearly cost up front. So somehow over the next little bit I'm going to have to come up with 18,000 $ up front to have coverage for the upcoming year.

I found this article/blog on WOOT earlier about CHILDREN and GENDER EXPRESSION. The resulting forum thread is surprisingly intelligent, well discussed, and seems completely non bigoted.

http://kids.woot.com/Forums/ViewPost.aspx?PostID=5005091 will get you to the forum thread that I was speaking of.

Both the article and the responses are quite interesting food for thought, and there seems to be no biased involved!

Through the years: Two against the world part 11

Sunday had passed without much excitement. The phone was ignored for most of the day, unless William was the one to answer it. Tracy had finished up her cleaning of the house the day before and was at the kitchen table with her mother, going over all the jewelery in her mother's jewelery box. Each piece she pulled out came with the story of how she got it.

“This necklace...I remember this one.” Maggie smiled as she held up a very thin gold chain. “This was the first piece of jewelery that your father gave to me. I think it was at our sixth month anniversary.”

“Really?” Tracy asked as she looked at it.

“Yeah. He was so nervous.” Maggie chuckled. “And this....” She sighed as her hands pulled out a bracelet made with silver chains. “This was one of the pieces he got me on our wedding day.”

Gaby Book 8 Chapter *20* Vows

Chapter *8.20*

Vows

As we approached the doors it was clear that a degree of stage management was going on along with a check that we were on the guest list — how weird is that? The crowd would give the occasional cheer as someone they recognised passed by along with paparazzi camera flashes.

Today could be my worst day

Well, today I have to deal with the insurance company, and to say I'm not looking forward to it is an understatement. This is like going to the principal's office as a kid, only a thousand times worse, because if I walk out of there without coverage I will lose my job, hurt my family, and generally make my life suck for the foreseeable future.

I'm scared, which always brings out the PTSD, so I'm having the shakes so bad its hard to even type.

Looking for a title

It was a several part story. The boy who runs away, has a rich father who has money set aside for when he gets older, and there is a way that only the boy knows to get to the money. In the mean time, the Step mother, or could have been regualr mother, tried to kill the child and if I recall she was french and the boy actually was intersexed.

Turns out the father was loaded and to make things right, she helps out her mothers family.

what was this story?

the dress

2012 copy write post on free sites but leave intact I got bored again here you go another one from me rues comments welcome

I saw the dress on line and had to have it. So I bought it.I had it shipped to a post box and if your wondering yes I love all things feminine.
I have been lucky as no one knows that I dress and have this deep wish to be a woman.
It started early in my life and has been kept a secret.
The dress caught my eye one night last month, no one had bid on it at all so with my shaky hand I hit buy now and got it for a few hundred bucks plus shipping.

With 'Amazon', 'Ma'at' (rewrite and new chapter), four new stories, and the odd editing efforts, Maureen has decided to delve back into my college days for more ideas.

The Asgardian Saga: Prologue

Ragnorak Saga #1: The Gamble
This is a work of fiction. As such, if it represents another’s work or someone’s life, in is pure happenstance. The majority of the names are the Americanized version of the old Norse names. This work is indee my property. Please ask permission before using this story for basis of any others. The reader’s can write about and make their own characters in the Nine Worlds Universe.

Preface

Asgard

The Old Man at the Window

The Old Man at the Window

The old man made his way carefully down the street, cane in one hand. He paused now and again, and looked at the shops along the street, but only stopped for long twice.

The first time was outside a formal dress shop, and he looked at the beautiful dress in the window for quite some time, his expression sad.

When he finally got moving again there were tears in his eyes.

The second time was outside a book shop. In the window was set up with the top five sellers displayed, and in the number one spot was a name he recognized.

Understanding Rachel, Part 4

Understanding Rachel Part 4

Rachel plodded in the door, her eyes still wet from tears. She carelessly threw her coat over a chair, and kicked off her work shoes. Her little dog Snoopy came bounding toward her, wagging her little tail furiously.Rachel picked up the small dog, and went to a couch. She stroked and cuddled with the dog for a few minutes, and then went to grab her phone.

“Gotta call Tayna.”

She let the phone ring, and when Tanya said “hello” she said, “Hey girlfriend" her voice was crackling as she spoke.

Cats- the musical hits home

I have two cats. They are both tabby cats with bushy tails that like to collect things likes stickers and twigs and maybe even small gnomes that aren't fast enough to get away. I got these cats shortly after I got my house because I didn't want to be alone and I knew if I fed them that they would love me unconditionally (on the condition I feed them, so maybe not so unconditionally).

A little story

When I was a very young creature of uncertain gender, my brother began having vision troubles that ended with him having operations and needing to wear glasses. Not long after, I began to complain about my eyes as well, but something funny happened.

Nobody believed me.

They assumed that I was just trying to being like my big brother, and so patted me on the head, and told me to stop being silly.

It took months before my teacher finally told my parents to have my eyes actually checked, and it turned out I did indeed need glasses, and I wear them to this day.

Bob Arnold - Zapped

I really don't know what started this, maybe reading a Julie O story, but I found myself wanting to go back and read "Zapped" by Bob Arnold. The more I thought about it the more I thought I owed it to Bob's memory. It had been a couple years since I read the story from beginning to end, but it is good to go back an re-experience the joy, hurt, sadness and adventure of Jen Stevens life.

Real Life

Hello my lovelies:

I haven't been spending much time on here lately and expect to be here considerably less in the future. It is not that I have become a snob, or that I am depressed, but am just too busy to breathe any more, and I love what I am doing.

In truth, aside from the sadness of my losses once in a while, these are the happiest days of my life and I am pretty glad that I quit sucking on gun barrels.
