This is a story I did a few years ago and posted on Sapphire's. It's an attempt at Science Fiction and Adventure. At the time I wrote it, I had never read any of the Gor books. Now that I have, I'm surprised at some of the similarities.

The story is about Bill, who, through a travesty of justice gets involved with a dying boy. With the help of the boy's late uncle's writings, Bill is pulled into a strange, savage world.

Imagine if you will that the universe and everything in it, everything that has existed, everything that will exist, is all part of an impossibly huge computer program--like "The Matrix," but on a scale unimaginably vast.

We do not know the "programmer"--perhaps a member of a civilization that perished eons ago, perhaps what we know as God.

All programs can be corrupted, either by accident or design. The same holds true for the program known as our universe.

Now suppose a virus has done just that.

I discovered this site very recently, and thought some folks here might be interest: Save the SciFi

According to their blog, they are trying to get the publishing rights to old science fiction novels that are long out of print, with little expectation to be reprinted/published in the future. What's cool, is that people can join their club and get the right to vote on what is published next (in addition to getting a free copy of one book each month in ebook format).

Dead Reckoning by Mercedes Lackey

I've just finished reading Dead Reckoning by Mercedes Lackey. It is a very good book, and the main character is a FtM TV. The book is about zombies in the Wild West (1867). For those familiar with the Deadlands RPG setting, it is much like that without the Ghostrock(?) and physical changes, but with the Magic/Weird Science. For others think Wild Wild West with Magic, that isn't entirely accurate but a decent idea for the setting.

I highly recommend this story along with most of Mercedes Lackey's novels.
