He blinks and extends his hand and I offer mine and he shakes it like I’m a young lady.
“You’d better come inside…”

“Jem.”

“Jem? Like in Jem and The Holograms?”

“How’d you?”

“Come on in and we’ll talk Jem it’ll be safer that way.”

“Yeah the police aren’t here yet.”

Everything was fine with me; just as long as I could take the pills. I knew the little one was safe with Steve and Mary, Steve was like me in his attitude live and let live, we`d served together all over the world and seen just about everything imaginable. Almost every lifestyle possible so Amanda`s problem didn`t bother him one iota.

I knew that I would be just like the girls I knew, excited and proud of my new bumps when they came–and I’d probably a pain in the neck about them, like other girls.
