San Diego Comic Con Founder Dies

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8 / CNS) - The man who founded Comic-Con has died. Shel Dorf died Tuesday at Sharp Hospital after a long illness.
Dorf started the San Diego Comic-Con in 1970 at the U.S. Grant Hotel in downtown San Diego, after moving to San Diego from Detroit.

He spent the next 15 years as a leader of the annual convention, which promotes comics and related popular art forms, including sci-fi movies and animated TV shows.

Dorf was 76 and is survived by his brother. Funeral services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Home of Peace cemetery located at 3668 Imperial Avenue.

Here I am in Wyoming and it is October and I am looking and 45 is just around the corner. I am not complaining I am living a good life in probably one of the most beautiful parts of the country. I live about 50-60 miles east of Yellowstone National Park.
I am a new member here and probably will write a story or 2 here and won't know how long the stories will be.

I was wearing my favorite dangly earrings that looked like a tiny model of the solar system with only 3 planets. I had a three-quarter sleeved top that showed off my breasts that were small and yet seemed to fit my frame. I heard loud voices behind me and turned to see what the commotion was about and saw my mother and sisters coming toward me, shouting and pointing at me. I covered my face and yelled nooooooo.

I was thinking of writing a story for this site, which would be my first ever online for any type of site whatsoever. I have only used the most basic html before, such as italics blah blah blah, and do not know how to format an entire story, even in the most basic form. I looked on the Add a Story page and noticed "< a n g l e s >" (italics?) didn't work and that you had to use &gt and &lt, and then "< ! - - break - - >" after your teaser...

One November First morning the mailman knocked on her door to deliver a package, and the door opened to reveal Mother Hubbard, dangling naked from a rope in the middle of her living room. She hadn't written any kind of suicide note, and the police had noted that it would have been impossible for her to stand on anything that high up. The case remained open, even to this day, as they could not ascertain how anyone could have hung a rope from a fifteen foot high beam.

Well, I was given a big shock today. This coming Friday will be my last day at a company where I have worked for 14 years. Basically, it is the economy. Being single. My sister is starting Basic Training

I just wanted everyone to know my sister (she adopted me when I started to transition) is going to the Army Basic training Tuesday, and while I am terribly proud of her, I am scared and sad at the same time. I have my many ups and downs as we are very close and we have been inseparable for 6 or 7 months. I am amazed at the openness and acceptance of this younger generation. I have received so much support from so many 20-30 year olds, and while females are more quickly to accept me, many 25 - 35 year old men have defended me when others were verbally tearing me down.

Caster Semenya is a woman --- and a man.

SYDNEY (AP) - World 800-meter champion Caster Semenya of South Africa has male and female sexual organs, the Sydney Morning Herald said on Friday, posing an ethical and political quandary for athletics' ruling body.

Semenya's reported condition could have grave medical implications.

The Herald said extensive physical examinations of 18-year-old Semenya ordered by the IAAF have shown she is technically a hermaphrodite.

A little over a year ago, I read a story that captivated me. That story was "Tragedy of the Spirit". The Authoress was a friend whom I met years previous. Mellissa, She was a wonderful friend whom had a demeaner of strength and determination I have only seen a few times in my life. When I read "Tragedy" the first time I was overcome with raw emotion and sadness as to how the human spirit can be wrecked by such sensless acts of violence towards children, let alone human beings. I would never had imagined what Mellissa went through until I read her story.
