Hello my friends at BC!!

Well, I was given a big shock today. This coming Friday will be my last day at a company where I have worked for 14 years. Basically, it is the economy. Being single. Less money coming into the company, etc, etc. I was told I will receive a full month's pay check at the end of the month. Then another week into November.

The adventure is starting today. I hope to find a job that pays well. If I get less, I hope to find a part time job to fill in the rest. I have to leave emails to friends, school mates and relatives. Of course, I will check into the unemployment payments. I know that will be less.

I will keep in contact from time to time to read some great stories. I did buy a new PC last Saturday. It is a good price. About $430 for a 250 GB Hard-drive PC. It is a XP machine.

Well take care everyone.

Rachel

Good Luck

Bad economic times are sometimes opportunities to explore a new direction in one's life, and in a good way.

Exploring new directions

I couldn't agree more. Having been forced to give up work through illness means I have a lot more time on my hands, and little energy to do much with it.

Since I no longer have to spend most of my time outside pretending to be a stereotype I've been able to explore who and what I am in more detail. I'm a lot more comfortable with myself now, and I have the opportunity to do things I never would have been able to before. Down side is, there's very little money available, so progress is slower than I'd like.

The economic downturn combined with my age means that I'm unlikely to ever hold down a "proper" job again. However, the result is that I've been able to provide your good selves with some of my modest offerings. Before I stopped work it had never occurred to me that I was capable of writing such stuff.

I know most, including myself, would like to be in some kind of employment, but while we're waiting for the perfect job we can afford to take some time to explore what else life has to offer.

Best of Luck,

Penny
