Standing Up to Life

Synopsis

Brandon is a bright boy growing up near Albuquerque, New Mexico. He likes school, soccer, computer games, and playing in the school band. Small for his age and youngest in his class, his size has made him the target of every school bully for years. Each year the verbal and physical abuse increases, finally wearing him down to the point he doesn't know if he can continue. Just as he reaches the end of his rope, he is suddenly befriended by a classmate he least expected. As their friendship grows and deepens, Brandon learns the value of a best friend and finds himself moving down a road he never expected. Over the course of the school year, his friend helps him discover and cope with his feelings, hopes, dreams - and fears.

This is the story of a young person's unusual journey to stand up to the numerous obstacles that life has dealt him - and to become the person he believes himself to be.

The Girl in Me, would like some feedback please?

I would like to know if I am doing something wrong, or doing something right with my story.

I am getting concerned that maybe others are loosing interest in it, and am thinking of possibly pulling the plug on it seems how, The comments on my story, is getting rarer and rarer, and sometimes none at all. examples (13 and 16)

I enjoy writting the story, in fact I was hopeing to contiinue it for a rather long time, its hardly just begun, even where it is now, as I planned to continue wtritting it for many more monthes or even years, like an episode as each instalment.

WOW! This has been so much fun.

Wow! I just realized that I posted my first story here just a little over a year ago. This has been a very enjoyable experience. What really surprised me is that someone is still reading the old stories and actually voting on them. Thank you whoever you are. I am so happy you are enjoying them.

Feminizer Disease Takes My Body Over - Chapter 15

I did put my CD earphones on with the Institute CD playing while I fell asleep. I was so "programmed" to wear the headset at night, listening to their message. I was in heaven it seemed. I was so happy, what was going on in my brain? Should this lifestyle be mine for the rest of my life?

Chapter 15

Changes~42

After congratulating each other on receiving the news that Dawn and her family would be coming to live at the Cove, we grabbed the protesting children from the beach and went to took them to see the cottage where they were soon going to be living. Protests died on their lips as they were as curious as anyone regarding their new home...

Chapter 42

By Susan Brown

Karen_J being kept in hospital a little longer to be safe but is recovering

Karen_J appears on the mend though the doctors are keeping her for observation.

I quote from a message I received today:

>>
Karen is still in the hospital, the doctor wants to keep her another day ...

She says hi and why the hell did I send the first email out? I passed on everybody's comments and a few select ones from Big Closet, some of which amused her. She will likely be out of touch another day or there abouts.
>>

I hope everyone else here is well.

Come back soon, Karen.

Along the Waterfront

"This is pretty captivating, but give over, before someone throws a bucket of water over us."

"All right, but I am full of animal magnetism, aren't I, Jeffrey?"

"There's no doubt about it, Susie," I purred. "Don't be surprised if, one morning, you wake up and find a squirrel stuck to your forehead."

About the Retro Classics

Some people are misunderstanding something here. The Retro Classics are being brought back so you can see what our writers were like in the past and what we have hidden in the author lists. This is not some game about trying to have everything complete - because not everything here can be completed. Some of our authors have died, others... in more trouble than most of us can know. Others decided to stop writing. But what they left behind is a treasure for us to gaze upon. We can learn from what they did and write new things.

Karen_J in hospital, outlook hopeful, well wishes/prayers welcome

Our fellow BC commentor, proofer and writer Karen_J collapsed at work and was taken to a hospital.

From what I was told it sounds similar to a problem she had last year. She is stable and appears to be recovering but will be on the mend for a while.

Like many here she has had more than her share of pain and turmoil in her life but has managed to survive and thrive inspite of the odds.

Thoughts after Southern Comfort

When I arrived in Atlanta for Southern Comfort, I was as nervous as the long tailed cat in the room full of rocking chairs. I wasn't sure what to expect or how I should act. What I didn't expect, was the love, compassion, understanding, and support I received, even being just a first timer.

I received and gave more hugs in one week, than in my entire lifetime. NO one had a bad word to say about ANYONE, and everyone was amazingly open and caring. I talked to more girls in the space of the week, than I ever thought possible, and we had a BALL!!!

It was lovely to be able to forget my problems for a while and dive head first into trying to help others. After a brief stop for drinks, we were off to try to find the ideal home for Dawn and Adrian, not forgetting the headache inducing children...

Thank you

I just wanted to extend my thanks to those who have taken Grover and myself under their wings....(You know who you are). I especially want to thank the girls who went to the Southern Comfort conference for taking such good care of my hubby, and making sure he had a great time.

Oh, thank you Ariel, for the book. I am enjoying it immensely. :-)

I'm glad everyone had a wonderful time, and I'm relieved y'all are home safe and sound!

Smooches,
Paula

Soccer Camp

Tejay and his brother are sent to a Soccer Camp by their mother; but is it really what it appears to be!? I think not! WARNING: This is in "Story Book" format, with relatively large images. If you are on dial-up, prepare to wait for a bit for everything to come through.

Obama and Schools

When I read this, just now, I thoght about how if this bill was to pass, that it would impacr the T.G. community as well. If not directly throgh sons, daughters, or family, then through other workers. This deserves discussion here, and with our family and friends

Plagues

There are recurring stories about plagues or diseases decimating (I use the word in its modern sense, not the Roman one of one in ten) humanity. There has not yet been a disease that took more than one in three of the population, which is not to say that a more virulent disease could not arise in the future.

However, if we experienced now a plague which took one in three, the problems are that first our medical resources would be overburdened to breaking point, and so would all our infrastructure.

Our civilization is now so complex that it could not survive a plague of this magnitude.

Killer Green Tomatoes

It's almost too late in the season here but some of the heirloom varieties ripen late. These are really good and so simple.

Clean and slice several green tomatoes, about 1/3 inch (8 mm) thick, more or less. Salt and pepper them liberally and leave on a cutting board to dry out very slightly while you get everything else ready.

BigCloset Retro-Classics!

I posted a Retro Classic every day this week for the benefit of the Southern Comfort Conference that Cathy, Holly, Gwen, Ariel, and Grover attended. I wanted to show potential readers the best of what BigCloset has in variety, talent, and people. I will resume back to posting them 2 times a week now. I hope that everyone enjoyed the classics that I have pulled out of the closet so far =^.^=

Arachnophobes beware!

Arachnophobes beware! Apparently there are going to be a lot of our 8 legged friends around this autumn (well, in the UK at least)!

Conservationists say there could be more spiders and daddy longlegs than usual this autumn because of favourable breeding conditions. Researchers at insect charity, Buglife, said last year's wet autumn meant the larvae of daddy longlegs had plenty of decaying plant matter to eat. Experts also said this year's temperate summer had been good for spiders.

What a Day!!!!!

Andrea_blog_photo.jpgMy sweet counselor is such a dear. With everything going on, she's been such an encouragement, and today proved to me just how much God loves me through her, through you, my dear sisters and brothers and through my new dear friends whom I treasure just as much as my characters love and accept each other. She is Jewish, which gives us a commonality with somewhat but wonderfully different perspectives while still trusting God.

Focal Point - Chapter 19

Focal Point
CHAPTER 19

By Alyssa Plant

Michael Cohen's dream was to protect and serve as a police officer.... That job didn't satisfy him until one day, when people without names came to visit. He wanted to make a difference, but he didn't expect it to make a difference to him, too...

John W. TGIFridays

John of course I know what TGIFridays means: Transgendered Influenced Fridays. At my school it was like Mixed up Mondays, which was a little hard to swallow in the Bible thumping deep south. It was started after the cheerleaders kicked the Butt of the school football team at flag football 31-12 (our football team won three games in six years. Unfortunately this is true.). The coach actually tried to recruit the cheerleaders, they refused to play for such a sorry team. Anyways for the rest of the year the football team had to wear dresses to school on Friday.

The Journey is the Destination
Chapter 15

By poetheather

The fallout of the evenings activities are quite unexpected and both Kuno and Ukyo find themselves in uncomfortable situations.

Sadly, Charlene

While going through a pile of condolences I received after my mother died in January 2008, I discovered an envelope that had an order for six ebooks and a money order for the cost plus an anount for postage.

This is multiply sad because these are ebooks, I can't mail them. And no email address was included so I can't provide them through email, either, nor was the name given traceable through BCs membership list.

Charlene, if you're still out there, I can give you a hatbox membership so you can download these items, please contact me via email or PM.

Gratefulness

I wanted to thank everyone who has been praying for me and loving me and encouraging me. I found out that my doctor's practice is going to accept my insurance coverage without expecting my share of the cost of my testing. I will also be blessed with my counselor's sage advice and encouragement next week, as well as EEG Biofeedback, which is expected to significantly reduce my tremors and brand new speech problem...I do an excellent imitation of Jeff Goldbloom in Jurassic Park. I "came out" in a manner of speaking to my counselor yesterday.
