“Now, we have a person in this congregation who identifies as a woman though she was born male. I have met with her, and told her the traditional view I stated above. She chose to not follow that tradition, and continues to present herself as a female.”

She shook her head emphatically. “No! I want to hear where he goes with this.”

Lori requested that both her mom and her had their lunch on the deck while Luke and her dad were at the bike park. The Brat Princess wanted the time with her mom to be somewhere just as special. The seldom used deck was the perfect venue. It was elevated and had an awning for protection from the weather. Being attached to the sunroom made the deck seem bigger than its actual size was to Lori. The deck’s elevation along with their home being on a hilltop gave a great view of the Mon Valley. This vantage point made Lori feel so important on sitting on the deck.

The ring on her finger twisted around as she nudged it from side to side with her other hand. Gemma knew it to be a family heirloom, its sister lost to her family when a group of mages had ransacked their house one night.

“I told you you were different. You have not asked me if my breasts are real, if I still have my penis or how I do sex. Most men have asked those questions hours ago. You haven’t even asked me how old I am. Do you not wish to know before I suggest going to bed?”

At the end, after the word usage notes, is the Poem ‘Taffy was a Welshman’ which is vaguely relevant to the story. I’d had the vague outline of the story in my mind for a few days. Some details were inspired by comments I read on BCTS suggesting Taffy can only be a woman’s name – I assume those comments originated in the US, in the UK it is different. Robin too like a number of other essentially female names in the US is essentially a man’s name here. The highly respected, polite and competent anchorman on the 12/12/19-13/12/19 overnight ‘Election 2019’ BBC program was Welshman Huw Edwards, and watching the election coverage gave me more pieces for the story. Then a friend came over to use my Bridgeport milling machine to remove a broken half inch stud from a casting and the detail was virtually finalised. Taffy is also a chewy toffee or candy in the UK, but that didn’t help me write the story at all.

Needless to say, Ellen was thrilled. It was getting late and they had to pick up Ariel from the sitter. Ellen put her daughter in her car seat, but, rather than heading home, she drove to the mall.

George felt a sinking in his stomach and asked, "What’s up?"

"Dear I am sorry; it appears you are going to have to stay as Heather for a while longer."

"Wait a minute! I said I would help. I never said anything about doing it as Heather."

When I got up that morning things were different. My room, once decorated in brilliant colors, was now drab and dirty. I kept my room spotless. I smiled; someone was playing a trick on me. I sat up and found I was wearing boys’ flannel pajamas. OK, where’s my nighty? I got up to go take care of business in the bathroom. I pulled down my pajama bottom to find not only that I was wearing boys’ underwear, but as I looked down, I saw clearly that I had a penis!
