Beyond the walls and webbed barriers, there was singing from a voice that barely showed any nervousness, muffled weeping, and the sounds of people trying to break free of the webbing. When Pixeletta walked into the rounded corridor between the stadium and the park, she wasn’t sure what she was expecting to see, but this wasn’t it. If she could somehow read her mother’s facial expression through that mask of hers, she was sure Swan Diva felt the same.

“At least the phone bank went well,” Tiffany said from across the desk. She was trying to cheer me up; in the past that would have been unusual for her but even I could tell that something was different. She was changing, we all were.

“We raised six thousand dollars,” I said, placing the school paper on the desk. “That’s like, what enough to pay rent for a month at Planned Parenthood? Maybe they could buy a box of bandaids. Has Audrey seen this?”

Nicki smiled and said, “I have been reluctant to tell you more, for reasons that are obvious. I am a pre-op trans-sexual woman. I always intended to have the surgery one day in order to form a permanent relationship, but if you think we could go the distance perhaps not for a while.”

I knew the moment the steering on my car went funny that I was done for. It was Christmas Eve and in a moment of extreme foolishness, I’d gone out for a drive.

Bucht followed Dock through the disheveled streets into the Talos district. Nervaeus was last seen in the area.

“What’s the plan?” Bucht asked.

Dock said, “Adamast shouldn’t be far behind us. If we spot Nervaeus, we slow him down if necessary, but wait for her to launch an all-out assault. I’ll scan for any weaknesses, and heal minor injuries, as usual.”

“Works for me. I think we should have packed some water.”

“There should be plenty around this part of town for you to play with.”

“Uhh, okay,” Linnea agreed, not without grave misgivings. She felt that she’d already opened Pandora’s Box. Now, she found that the box was full of smaller boxes, all of them belonging to Pandora, and each one more portentious and potentially dangerous than the one before.

Yes indeed, this is the last part of the Weeping Willow saga. I appreciate everyone's patience and forbearance with me. I know that I included various elements that were controversial and not everyone's cup of tea (like God and religion). The Sex chapter (part 19) was nerve wracking for me because I worried it would be clumsy, stilted, tasteless or boring. (I haven't written many sex scenes, especially one that explicit). Your encouragement and input was precious and life-giving. I love you guys; thank you.
