Quinn It was glaringly obvious that my parents did not want to be there when they first arrived for Sunday dinner, but by the time the evening was over they were much more relaxed. Dad seemed to warm to Tom faster than my mother did. At Sandra’s insistence, they agreed to attend the Wisconsin reception where they ended up getting to meet and visit with Tom’s parents. At the reception, the Judge and his wife apologized to my parents for Tom taking away their daughter-in-law. It took a while, but Mom eventually warmed up to Tom and admitted that my living with Tom and Sandra was probably the better option. She still wanted to keep in touch with me, a contact that I also wanted to, and did, continue.

Chapter 14

The past few days had not been kind to Janey. The spell that she cast on Halloween night in hopes of becoming Bobby's Girl had come with a side effect so horrible it made her flip out + start tearing up her room, convinced there could be nothing worse than this! Then she was hauled off to jail, which in fact was quite a bit worse. But now Janey was reunited with her family + going home, so at least she knew she wasn't destined to end up in a cage in some Freak Zoo. But what kind of life could a girl who didn't quite officially exist + who wasn't completely a girl anymore look forward to? She sure had made a mess of everything with that stupid magic spell!

Takeout boxes stuffed with Thai food caked the tables on either side of the room. Warren alternated between eating his food and examining the bracelet that Trash Knuckle handed him. It was golden with a set of green jewels embedded in it. Their strange had ally found it while raiding one of the last pocket dimensions belonging to a band of evil mystics, which was now powerless. It was strange that they would have had this.

“You said this turns you into a beautiful woman?” Warren asked.

“Lung cancer? Are you sure? But I've never smoked.” Jamie was in denial, a not uncommon reaction to bad news.

Mortar Mage ran into the lab as fast as he could. Someone with both teleportation and super speed couldn’t move fast enough, he thought. If what he feared most was true then there was never such a thing as fast enough.

One of the lab’s rooms was a holding area for a series of freezing tubes. Mortar saw that the tanks were in one piece, and that they continued to hold all of the androids within them, one in each corner of the room. He let out a heavy sigh of relief.

Adele meets the town's hunky sheriff who is one of the few people in town to offer her assistance. He takes her dancing at the Lazy Ace Saloon and afterwards things get hot.

We hit the road again once we were packed up, Dad insisting I drive the van along the back lanes until we hit the A4069, where he took the wheel and, to my surprise, turned north.

“Trying a bit of a different circuit, duck. Seeing as you have paid your respects to the Parsons, and those two men are in it up to their eyeballs, I thought we’d see a bit more of your own country than we normally do. You up for it?”

Outside of the safety barricade around the Paragon Power Plant, news crews gathered at first light; even if that first light was a guard lighting up a cigarette.

They found and practically bombarded Diamond Grace when she arrived on the scene. Their questions were numerous and difficult to pick out, but Diamond Grace answered what she could while making her way to the barricade.

Charlotte’s Place:
Charlotte pulls into her driveway and plugs her motorcycle in. She was feeling a little tired from staying awake all night. It was amazing how similar she and Casey were. She notices when she walks into her place, that someone has been in her place. She pulls her gun out and looks around.

When she gets to her bedroom, she notices her friend Kai was asleep in her bed. She puts her gun back into the holster and takes her gun belt off. She notices that Kai’s knuckles were bruised and that she had a bruised on the side of her face.
