“If no get hand where need go I slapping you.” Malachai stated to the worker she had been assigned to work with.

Or at least that’s what she hoped she had said to him. Learning a new language was always tough. At least this manner of speech seemed easier to learn than Americanized English had been. She was also having a much easier time of it than Felix was, much to her companions consternation.

Bev returns to Earth to discover problems in the family she has reluctantly re-connected to.

Chapter 1

I had, I think, the best job in the world. Most people look at an airline pilot and think, “Overpaid layabout, sitting in an armchair surrounded by beautiful air hostesses while a computer takes the controls.”

Frederick was 25 years old. He was married, and he and his wife, Wilhelmina, had a pair of twins named Bernard and Elizabeth. The reader should note that their last name was neither Flintstone nor Rubble, however. Frederick and Wilhelmina simply found it amusing that the shortened forms of their names were identical to those of a certain modern, stone age family. Thus, naming their kids after Fred and Wilma's best friends was a stroke of humor-related genius.

The Prince of the two Kingdoms

Chapter 1

“What was that shit you were saying, calling me a bitch?” I demanded.

The shower took about ten minutes longer than it would have, and thirty minutes longer than his normal showering routine, because he broke down halfway through and huddled in the floor of the shower, unable to look at Dakota’s body or touch it, turning the temperature and pressure up as high as he could stand it as though it would wash off this soft feminine shell and leave the real him.

The party was sprawling down the lawn towards the harbor, splashes of bright colors against blue skies, scudding white clouds and a crystal clear view of the Boston skyline. It reminded me of the dream I had taken across the threshold into morning. It had been years since I had seen that dreamscape, but there it was, whole and healed and perfect: me, making a graceful dive from a wooden pier into a deep, pristine lake, surrounded by snow-capped mountains, pine forests and the clearest air in the world. Wearing a lime-green one-piece and curves that were, finally, all my own.
