I'm going to use this as a place to discuss search, how to use it and what people want to use it for.
A few things:
When you use multiple words in a search, the default is to perform an OR search. Searching for curly perm will turn up both curly and perm and will list first results that have both terms.
Searches are case insensitive. Perm, perm and PERM are all the same.
Searches are made for roots, so perm, perms, permed and perming are all the same. But permanent is a different word.
A plus symbol in front of a word in a search means that word is required so curly +perm will return only results that have some form of perm in them and will prefer ones that have curly, also. +curly +perm results must have both words though not necessarily next to each other.
A minus sign means do not include the following word in results so perm -curly would return results that matched perm but would not include ones that also had curly.
Quotes around a phrase will search for an exact match, but will still ignore case. "curly perm" will match Curly perm and lots of variations but both words in that order must be present.
Comments are regarded by search as part of the post.
The sidebars allow you to restrict searches to posts that match various criteria, like type of post, audience rating or authorship. At the top right is a sidebar that allows you to control how the search indexer orders results.
When we upgrade to Drupal 7, this will all change a bit but not drastically.
You can use this thread to ask questions and make comments about search.
The transformation is complete and William is headed into the biggest
meeting of his career, wearing a suit that is tailored very differently
than the ones he usually wears. His change in wardrobe and persona force
both William and Kateri to reevaluate everything about themselves and
their relationship.
In this, the story finale, Quinn needs more help than he can imagine and
finds more than he ever expected. I cannot thank you all enough for
sticking with this series. Your comments, emails and general support has
been inspiring. I hope you enjoy this chapter, the series finale.
Vic Peltior and her partner only want to get on with their lives. Unfortunately for them, there are people who want them to do -- or be -- something else.

Sataria’s Encampment, South Pacific Island:
Three shadowy figures use the night to their advantage as they move throughout the night quietly killing people. The people they killed didn’t stand a chance against them. Any magical wards that might have alerted the guards to their presence were deactivated with just a thought.
"Oh, you know you love it!" said his Mother, cheerfully. "Anyway, the doctor says you need to stay here longer than originally planned. The good news is, it's because they think you have powers!"
It’s nearly a week before I see all twenty-five men and hear their cover stories. This is a lot harder than deducing assignments given to Randolf. I’m going to be lucky if I get my roses. They take my deductions and don’t tell me if I’m right or wrong.
They just go off with my answers each time.
I’ve continued to pester Daddy to find out what happened to the TacPzlSolGp but he tells me he’s come up against a stone wall. I still carry that ID and crest in my purse, but I haven’t heard anything about them for some time now.
I looked at him and my legs turned to jelly. I wanted to sit down but I just stood there, staring at those hard eyes and then at the gun that was pointing with alarming stillness at my belly-button...
“I’m sorry Cici … but in the real world you can’t be the little girl you want to be. Yes … you can put your hair up in pig tails and carry Kiwi around and colour till your heart’s content, but we both know that you’ll never wake up and truly be the little girl in body that you are in soul. Just as in the real world … I can never be your Mom … David can never be your Dad and the girls can’t be your sisters. It’s impossible.”
Five for Fifty Chapter Six: B is for Butterfly Nets The Final Chapter
We usually say that all types come clubbing at Grande Illusions. Crossdressers, transgender, gay men, women out for a good time and occasionally a couple looking for a night on the town.
He looked like a lonely businessman in his 50s seated in the area of the club where I served as a waiter...or waitress...depending on your perspective. On nights that I didn't perform, which was most nights, I spent the evening serving the clientele drinks and food.
“Don’t get any ideas, buddy,” I give him a warning look. “Suzie is a friend
of mine and there is no way I’m going to come between you two.”
“See,” he says in exasperation, “You’re taking it all wrong. I won’t say that
you don’t turn me on, but then every cute girl does that to a guy. I just have
this déjá vu feeling like you’re my ‘best bud’. I can’t get romantic with
my ‘best bud’. That’d be too strange.”
I know the feeling, I think to myself. If he only knew–
Mom immediately gets up and crosses the room to pick up the phone on her night stand. In a moment, she’s telling our communications sergeant, “I need to speak with my husband immediately. It’s very important.”
Perhaps a minute goes by before the phone rings back.
“Phillip? … Oh good, how soon? … Yes, I’m nearly ready, but that’s not why I called. Did you know that the Agent who tried to kill Lucy was in your cafeteria today?”
…
“I didn’t think so. Lieutenant Colonel Scott chased him off after he threatened Lucy again. … Phillip, remember your blood pressure. Take a pill. … Yes, as soon as you arrive. … Good. See you then.”
“He’d like to talk with you when he arrives, in about ten minutes. He’s going to arrange to have more security here at the house as well.”
I was silent for a moment. I think everyone in the room knew what had just happened, but I certainly didn't want to talk about it. My dad gave me an expression that seemed to say this was something I should not talk to him about. I would have to talk to Mom later or wait for my next session with Mary.
The Princess and the Plague Part 46 By Anistasia Allread
“Any moment now.” Mr. Martin told Erika as he stood up.
Erika pushed herself to her feet and smoothed down the royal blue, sweater dress she was wearing. Her palms began to sweat with nervousness as she followed her father's lead and ambled to a column about thirty feet from the exit of the security gate.
This isn't really a story. I do a lot of TG modified comics covers (Found at Femur's TGcaps site: http://www.tgcaps.com/caps/) and after reading Pamela Sue's Ladd's Exchange Mall series I created a comic six issue mini-series: Laddie-Gurl Comics: Tales from the Ladd's Exchange Mall (Where boys will be gurls ... whether they like it or not)

Megan is nervous and unsure what to do. She has had a lot of dating fail lately and she really wants Deirdre to like her favorite restaurant. She is nervous and worried and hoping the night ends well.
‘Well, Melanie, it was quite a shock to see the headline this morning…’
It seemed a bit bizarre that I was sitting on the famous Good Morning settee, just ninety minutes after sitting in my nightie reading the trash The Globe had printed about me...
Teacup Roses, Guitars, a Bus Pass and a Mistaken Identity (A Danny Fairchild Story)
by Bobbie Cabot
This little interlude is set somewhere in the middle of the events of Chapter 8 of the still unfinished story, “Danny.” This does not materially contribute to that story, but is more like “a day in the life” type of story of the main character, Danny. This story can stand on its own somewhat, but it would be good to read Danny, unfinished though it is, to get a background on the story and characters (see http://bigclosetr.us/topshelf/book/14774/danny).
"You look really pretty," he whispered, not having a clue that the girl he was leading down the aisle was a boy. But Grace was right, he was pretty good looking, you know in a girl likes a boy kind of way.
Seated a few aisles from the back of the church was Trey and his mother. Trey, well, he looked kind of jealous. I looked back and smiled.
"Who is that?" Tucker asked.
"My boyfriend," I whispered back. "I don't think he's thrilled my arm is around another boy's."

Karen leans close and quietly says, “I’ve been thinking about that story you told me just before we brought Whizz into the group. I’m glad you found your way to teach us.”
I look at her and wonder if she means that she understands. She looks at me and her eyes say, ‘Welcome to the club.’ I start crying again. Not a lot, but enough that tears roll down my face. I take her hand and give it a gentle squeeze of thanks.
A collection of stories with a sporting theme by Angela. Seven of her best tales centered on the worlds of golf, basketball, football and cheerleading, all with plenty more going on outside the sporting action.
Brian never wanted to be a girl, but when you have an actress for an older sister, a HUGE resemblance to her, and then throw in an agent who would do pretty much anything to get a contract — it was better to go with the flow, wasn't it?
"Wh-what?!" said the man, scandalized. "That's outrageous! We're not child stalkers! We're agents of the US government, here looking for known lawbreakers you're sheltering!"
