Ballad of Ted Bandpat
Come listen to my story
About a man named Ted
A poor trans girl
Lived inside his head
Then one day when crying feeling blue
She decided she would stop being a fake dude
Be a girl, that is, both pretty and bold
Be called a “she”
Well the first thing you know
She was out and didn’t care
Even though her friends online
Said “move away from there”
But her family showed their quality
And loved her so she didn’t have to flee
Surprised her, they did
Held her hand, and had her back
She said good-bye to Ted, not gonna be one of the men.
And she would like to thank her folks for dealing with the spin
And if you are ever near to her locality
She’d be glad to show you hospitality
Girly style that is. Pink tablecloth. Perfume in the air
So you all go down there, you hear?

All that's missing
Sitting on the edge of the CEE-ment Pond wearing a bright iridescent Turquoise one-piece bathing suit while drinking a glass of iced tea?

sounds good to me, Drea
watch out, though, one of my huggles may decide to cannonball into the pool!
*clapping and cheering*
Wahoo! I so loved your version of the Beverly Hillbillies song. I'm prolly gonna be grinnin' all day now. Thanks for sharin'! :)
glad I could make you grin

That reminds me
That little ballad makes me think of Jethrine Bodine.

Tune?
Do you have the tune to this?
Who is Jed?
I have to admit, I'm having a little trouble with the rhyme and rhythm. The tune might help.
I just thought of something: a trans Brady Bunch song: "Here's a story, of a lovely ..."

Some of the lines are spoken
So if you tried to sing them it would mess you up.

BTW the show had one joke, that country people are stupid unsophisticated rubes;
and it beat us over the head with it for five seasons or so,
doing for hill folk what Amos & Andy did for black folks....
I did like Dorothy's take on the song though.
~Hugs, Veronica
What borders on stupidity?
Canada and Mexico.
.
they may have been unsophisticated
but they ran rings around Mr. Drysdale every time
Finally one I know!
I'm such an old-school girl, I don't know most of the songs that you parody... but this one I know, and it's brilliant!
Even though I was born in the early 70s, most of the songs that I know are from before I was born. Comes from growing up in rural Nevada!
And yes, even when The Beverly Hillbillies tried to make the Clampetts look like total rubes, it ended up with them looking both smarter and wiser than the sophisticated southern California social elite. That was the point.
Thanks for the awesome song, Dorothy! I love it!
a trans Brady Bunch ?
giggles. that could be fun
The Transgender Bunch!
Here's the story of a lovely lady
Who was bringing up three very lovely boys.
All of them were really trans, like their mother,
And they were all true joys.
Here's the story, of a man named Brady,
Who was busy with three girls of his own,
They were trans too, supporting each other,
Yet they were all alone.
'Till the one day when the lady met this fellow,
And they knew it was much more than a hunch,
These transgender folk could form a family
That's the way we all became the Transgender Bunch.
Transgender Bunch, the Transgender Bunch
That's the way we all became the Transgender Bunch!
Wow!
Thank you!

I decided to play around with some face swapping of the original cast, and came up with the pic below:
The real Jethrine
The lovely Max Baer Jr. played Jethro's sister Jethrine Bodine as you can see here:
Sammy
giggles, he looks cute either way
I bet there were some people who looked at him in envy for looking so good as a girl
Cute Dot
I remember seeing a few episodes of the Beverly Hillbillies and stuff like I Love Lucy on reruns but they were way before my time. I like your take on the song.
*big hugs*
Amethyst
Don't take me too seriously. I'm just kitten around. :3
