Time to be me

Printer-friendly version

Its time to be me

Its my hope that you wont be upset
Because of the truth I have said
Hope you will be ok with what I do

Used to hide away every night
Trying to pretend it wasn’t what I’d like
But my story wont be done till I’m true

I want short skirts instead of t-shirts
To be the cheer captain, no longer on the bleachers
Dreaming of the day when I would finally find
Its what I have wanted the whole time

Finally ready to be the real me
She’s been inside all along you see
Its time to be me, its time to be me

Walking down the street its like a dream
I’ve always known its how it aught to be
Laughing at my fear, just being myself
Although it wasn’t easy

Now I’ve got a smile instead of a frown
No more keeping my real self down
I’ll be fine you can count on that
Now that I’ve let this girl in me be free

Wearing my high heels, no more sneakers
Be the Cheer captain and not on the bleachers
No more dreaming of what I would find
Now I am the me I needed to be the whole time

Finally ready to be the real me
She’s been inside all along you see
Its time to be me

Time for me to go out the door
This is what I’ve been waiting for
Yeh, its time to be me, time to be me

I remember I tried so hard to fight
All the time all I did was cry
It was all my hopes and dreams
But now its finally time to be me

Don’t know if anyone understands me
She’s been in me all along see
Now its time to be me, time to be me

Its time to be me
I’m almost ready
Its time to be me
Time to be me

Hi Gram...

Your lovely poem is so universal in that anyone who has ever wanted to be something other than what they are can take hope from you. I believe that balance is everything and without it, we can't truly become who we wish to be.

May You Have The Strength...

Lil' Brat

I love sneaking up behind Gram. :)

Just remember dear, that want

has nothing to do with who you are or need to be. For those of us who have had this girl living inside this deformed body all of our lives, know how much we need to be free and accepted and loved for who we are deep inside this stupid body that society thinks is us. Now while I don't say that being a guy is a bad thing if you are a male, but there are some of us with this stupid male body that just scream because people think that is who we are. And we're not that guy everybody wants us to be, but female in the soul that lives in the damned male body. If only people could see that we are not the preverts, or deranged psychopaths they seem to think we are.

We all need our time to be me. And I never asked to be female, I never asked to be shunned because I am female. But ... I ... am the female that lives inside this vehicle everybody calls a male body. And I will be the best damned female I can be regardless of who says different. Opinions are like butt holes, everybody has one, so just because some bigoted, homophobic jerk who calls him or her self normal says I must be a guy because my body is male, I will make sure that they see me for who I am, and I am a girl, a woman, a female.

I'm sorry I'm rambling on, and this free verse poem does that to me. Anyway "want" has nothing to do with the time to be me. The time to be me is a necessary need, and it is like a drug making us need more and more time to be me, to be the female each of us are in our souls. Even the body we live in has nothing to with who we truly are. Nice writing girlfriend, keep it up.

Dorothy,

Right On, Sista!

Since you're sorta new here, maybe you haven't heard this joke from the early '90s:

Q: What's the difference between a terrorist and a transsexual?

A: You can bargain with a terrorist.

Everyone else can groan, now.

Hugs and Bright Blessings,
