I followed her down the stairs, and as I entered the kitchen she showed me a book sitting on the work surface.

“First things first, love. Put that on the table for now, and you do NOT touch it with dirty hands! Get this lot baking, and then I will talk you through it, or at least the appendices. Now, scones of biscuits?”

“Can we do the scones? I like the crumbling bit”

My name is Jenni, and this is my diary. For some reason, I decided to keep track what happens in my life, even though there's nothing special about it. I dreamed that I was with a caravan of performers, and we were taken into custody and brought to a beautiful Arabian nights style palace.

Once there, I told the guard what we were, and then the prince of the kingdom came in.

Beth jumped out of the chair still half asleep and nearly fell of the high wedge sandals. "Mum? What are you doing home?"

"Ben? Why are you dressed in Debbie's clothes? How long have you been doing this? Who did your makeup for you?"

Beth glanced at the clock behind her mum and realised that she had slept for nearly two hours. Her mother looked around the room trying to understand what she had just encountered.

"I'd better go and change, sorry I fell asleep."
